Gerald HD at the Competition Pool 1
Added 2020-03-15 18:44:49 +0000 UTCI've spent the past week experimenting with the new workstation and checking render times plus a lot of new software. These first ones are HD but simple compositions and fast renders. In the future I will do the usual more complex sets but at better resolution.
The new workstation allows much faster renders so I can now produce more complex scenes or better resolution images. If you download these, into slide viewed you can use the magnify function to see amazing detail that wasn't really possible before.
Gerald is my first character created on the new computer, #674a. The background is an HDRI that I created (8000 x 4000 pixels, 17 hours render time!) again as a first attempt at creating an HDRI on this machine. These images are pretty simple, at around 1600-2000 pixels they render in about 5-6 minutes, even at HD; previously, my images were generally 1000 pixels so medium resolution.
The image sets here are far higher resolution that my previous images; if you download them, you'll notice that the file sizes are 3 to 4 times larger than before.

Hi terry! The Portugal news is a pretty good source for expats here. The corona hysteria is here of course and the Portuguese love to agonise over health and suchlike...drama queens! I expect a shutdown but no great epidemic. My thoughts are with you guys in Trumpland because I really think that US will be the worst hit of all because of the lack of a national health system and the failure of the WH leadership. Maybe Trump will let the adults to speak. I just watched a news conference and Trump looked like a bizarre glove puppet whilst the grown-ups explained the situation correctly. Keep safe and well!

Portugal gets no coverage here in US, but i have checked https://www.theportugalnews.com/news and see that COVID-19 has not spared Algarve has not been spared. (and I'm sure that neither president* Rump, his minions, nor supporters could locate it even if the map were only of Portugal and Spain.
