Wolf
This is getting annoying.
Very annoying.
I frown as the illusions keep breaking apart, reforming, growing, and changing. All as I destroy them, devour them, and straight up shatter them with my fists.
But there are so many illusions that I have trouble discerning what on this floor is even real. Despite my incredible senses.
And that in and of itself is disturbing.
I grit my teeth as I continue killing the monsters. Or trying to, at least.
The main problem is that half of these monsters just don’t want to die.
Some of them I even learn aren’t monsters but nothing more than illusions. As in, the entire monster in those cases.
So I don’t get any EXP at all for killing them. Nor do I get any strength from devouring them.
It’s ridiculous.
And then there’s the terrain illusions. Illusions that are confusing the hell out of me as I don’t even know what my surroundings actually look like.
Overall, this floor is confusing every last sense I have.
I continue attacking the monster illusions and even the terrain illusions over and over again. But as time goes on and I kill fewer monsters than I would’ve liked, I eventually lose my patience and expand my Domain outwards to cover entire kilometers around me.
Devouring every single illusion with a large amount of energy while also freezing what is left behind.
My eyes narrow at the sight of what the floor actually looks like as the illusions begin unraveling.
Instead of anything I was expecting, the floor turns out to literally just be a plain looking floor with some sort of hologram-like state to it. With floating blocks all over the place that look holographic but are actually solid.
Almost like I’m in some sort of virtual world.
Although now said blocks are coated in ice thanks to my Domain.
I fly through the floor while spreading my Domain as I go. Devouring everything with abandon everywhere around me.
Interestingly enough though, whenever my Domain no longer covers an area, the illusion element floating around said area begins to settle in. Changing everything again and covering the area in illusions galore once more.
Which pretty much just makes my Domain a safe sanctuary away from the illusions.
This Progenitor’s element is a major pain to deal with…
I can understand why the other Progenitors all don’t even bother fighting with Loki. Especially since this is just the residual elemental energy generated by his mere presence.
It’s not even part of his Domain.
I honestly can’t imagine what his Domain will be like.
At this point I’ve learned that the only way to really deal with his illusions is to straight up devour the elemental energy in them. Since no matter how many of the illusions I break and smash apart, more continue forming. And I can’t find the real monster behind illusions since some of them straight up don’t even have any monsters behind them.
What’s even worse about Loki is that there aren’t that many elements that can straight up devour elemental energy.
Void element can do it. My lunar ice element can do it. And that’s pretty much all.
There are other elements that can devour magic, but they target the effects of the elemental energy. Not the elemental energy itself.
Like the fire element for example.
Although my research says that the chaos element can alter other elemental energies. Turning them into other elements in the process and screwing with whoever is using the element as they lose control of it.
So this method of facing Loki’s illusion variant element is one only me and Grim can do. Although I’m probably only capable of devouring elemental energy because the void element had a hand in forming my element in the first place.
And when either void element or lunar ice element is used against Loki, it literally turns into a battle of attrition.
Whoever has more energy wins.
Which is ironic considering all the energy restoratives Loki has been giving me as rewards.
Or I guess not so ironic since he probably gave those to me for this very reason.
I have to wonder though…
Did Loki enter the Beta Dungeon just to mess around? Or does he have an actual reason?
I purse my lips at the thought as I continue moving through the floor, devouring the illusion element as I go with my Domain. Pretty much using that as a way to try and find that temple thing.
Fortunately it’s a lot easier this time around than it was against Beelzebub’s floor.
After all, my Domain is far larger now. And my energy tank is larger as well.
Although it’s also a little harder. Considering what element it is I’m fighting.
Beelzebub’s variant curse element didn’t do anything to me that normal curse element wouldn’t already do. So it was easier in that sense.
Unlike this illusion variant that is a massive pain to deal with.
I continue going around the floor searching for the temple for quite a while. Slaughtering monsters and devouring elemental energy along the way.
Until I eventually find the temple located on one of those massive holographic blocks.
That said, the temple itself seems to be in the form of just a large gate. One emitting so much illusion elemental energy that it’s trying to push back against my Domain. Even if it’s not really getting anywhere.
I frown at the temple before deciding to try it later.
After I’ve grown stronger and expanded my Domain a bit.
Then I’ll rest a bit to fully recover my energy tank before finally entering the temple.
I take a deep breath at that thought, only to continue hunting monsters and devouring elemental energy. Gradually increasing my physical strength in the process.
To my surprise though, I find myself pausing at some point in my hunt when a System Message appears in my vision.
One I absolutely was not expecting.
Huh…
