Within the Blue Moon National Broadcasting Station
“Is that right? The Winter Wolf has really always been like this?” the host, Adrieles, asks with a surprised look on his face. “I didn’t expect that.”
“He really has always been a bit of a ‘short path’ taker,” Katie says with a smile on her face as she sits on the other side of the set from the host of this particular variety TV show. One centered solely on The Winter Wolf. The prince of this nation. “Whenever he could, he would always just rush to take the shortest route possible. And while he would say it was also the simplest route, most of the time it was not actually the simplest. Or at least, not for most people.”
“That’s actually good to hear,” Adrieles says with a smile. “It’s nice to know The Winter Wolf hasn’t changed much from the dungeons. A lot of Competitors end up mentally breaking, or at least having major changes occur in their personality over time. So some people across the forums were assuming The Winter Wolf was the same.”
“Nah, my brother just does what he wants when he wants, and normally that means taking whatever route seems simplest to him,” Katie says, correcting those many people in the process. “He’s also very smart. He did end up in a pretty high class university in a difficult degree before our world entered the System after all.”
“Oh, really?” Adrieles asks with a slight tilt of his head. Then he glances at the screen behind both Adrieles and Katie. One showing The Winter Wolf on the current floor of the Beta Dungeon, where he’s completely frozen the other contestants so that they can’t answer as he looks up the answers on the System Forums. “He’s very smart?”
Katie feels some warmth coming to her cheeks as she blushes at her brother’s actions, which don’t really back up what she’s saying.
“Yes, but remember what I said before?” Katie asks, trying to hurry and cover up what her brother is currently doing. “He likes to take the simplest route possible. And the simplest route in a quiz show would obviously be to stop the other participants from answering at all to let him take his time.”
Ignoring the fact that most people wouldn’t think of that or even allow that in a quiz show.
“Right…” Adrieles mutters, only to shake his head and regain some of his enthusiasm as he continues, “Right, it’s only normal for a Beta Tester to not know that much about the Competitors of the Administrator Dungeon and their particular runs. So this route is obvious.”
Katie feels her blush growing even redder at that statement.
He doesn’t really think it’s obvious.
She turns her head to look at the screen.
Damn it, why did you have to do this while I’m doing this interview?!
Katie completely ignores the fact that he doesn’t even know she’s doing an interview about him and would probably be irritated if he found out. She also ignores the fact that it’s her own fault for signing up for so many interviews and not considering what floors he may be on during those interviews.
Because none of it is her fault.
It’s all her brother’s fault.
Right.
After convincing herself of that fact, she continues speaking, “Wolf is the type of person who goes and does whatever feels right to him. He moves on instinct. Along with his whims. He’s done this for as long as I can remember, and it always just seems to work out for him.”
“So you’re saying his instincts are incredible?” Adrieles asks while tilting his head, only to glance at the screen and wryly add, “Well, I guess that much is obvious from how far he’s come in the dungeons. Even becoming a Progenitor himself. A feat no one has ever been able to manage before. Not to mention slaying the copy of a Progenitor within the Beta Dungeon.”
Katie feels pride at the compliments sent her brother’s way. Even though she was just insulting him mere moments ago in her mind.
Then she opens her mouth to continue speaking, only to pause when a specific question appears on the screen directed at Wolf. And the host of the show she’s on pauses as well.
Because the question is a simple one.
What was the first monster The Winter Wolf fought from a dungeon?
“Oh, this is an easy one,” Katie finds herself saying with a smile on her face.
“Wasn’t it a skeleton? On the first floor of the Administrator Dungeon,” Adrieles asks with a slight furrow of his brows. Only for Katie to shake her head.
“Nope,” Katie says mere moments before The Winter Wolf answers the question.
“Unnamed wolves,” Wolf answers without any hesitation, following which a green light shines from his podium.
Adrieles blinks in confusion as he asks, “Wolves? But there aren’t any…” A look of realization spreads across his face as he no doubt rereads the question. “It says from a dungeon. Not in a dungeon. And it doesn’t specify the Administrator Dungeon.” He turns to Katie and asks, “So he killed some wolve from a dungeon before entering the Administrator Dungeon?”
Katie nods her head and says, “Yeah. We all killed them together after the Initialization began.”
“The other Competitors probably wouldn’t have gotten it right either, so it didn’t even matter that they’re frozen this time around,” Adrieles says while tilting his head a little. Only to ask, “I wonder what the System has planned for this variety show that it mentioned would be their punishment for losing?”
“Not sure, but I am sure that Wolf will probably tune in to check it out,” Katie says, feeling amused at the thought.
“It’s a first by the System, so I’m sure a lot of people will,” Adrieles agrees, albeit for a different reason.
Nah, Wolf will tune in just to see Crystal, who was messing with him not long ago in the chat, squirm from having to deal with a variety show.
She doesn’t say that out loud though, instead just continuing on with the interview.
