Arcadian Live
Mikaela feels more than a little overwhelmed as he looks at the livestream chat in front of his face. All while the loud audience in the viewing room roars their excitement over the addition of a livestream chat to the livestreams.
[This is the best addition the System has ever made!]
[Down with the Reaper! Up with the System!]
[I wonder if the System will make any other changes?]
[Down with the Reaper! Up with the System! Down with the Reaper! Up with the System! Down with the Reaper! Up with the System!]
[Down with the Reaper! Up with the System!]
[If it does I hope it’s soon]
[I just hope it doesn’t hurt Wolf in any way.]
[Doesn’t matter if it does. The Winter Wolf will annihilate all who stand in his way.]
[You mean he’ll freeze them.]
[The Wolf of the Blue Moon is the undisputed champion of our universe, and nothing will convince me otherwise!]
[Down with the Reaper! Up with the System!]
There’s a few things Mikaela has already learned from this new livestream chat feature.
For one, it seems to apply to both viewing rooms and individual Competitors. So there is a livestream chat for the Arcadian Live viewing room and a livestream chat for every individual Competitor.
The chats even show the exact number of users in them on the top right corner of the chat, and they have separate ‘servers’ or ‘channels’ that the viewers can chat in for the Competitors and viewing rooms with too many people in them.
Mikaela’s eyes gravitate towards the number of viewers in The Winter Wolf’s livestream chat. Which is more than he even knows how to count. With so many channels that trying to find a single specific person’s messages in them would be worse than finding a needle in a haystack.
It would be like trying to find a single bacteria in a haystack without any assistance or technology.
And that’s saying something.
Another thing Mikaela has learned from this is that people are more expressive about how they feel in text form than in a viewing room. And even more in a livestream chat than on the System Forums.
Which is probably because they believe they can’t be banned.
Something Mikaela quickly proves wrong when he begins ordering the moderators of his viewing room to ban a bunch of people in the chat.
Unfortunately for the Competitors, they don’t have any moderators unlike the viewing room livestreams. So the Competitors’ specific livestream chats quickly fill up with toxic uses amidst the regular ones.
It doesn’t seem like too big an issue for them though thanks to the enormous number of servers and the number of people in them.
And the last thing he’s learned is that public sentiment in the universe seems to be growing more affectionate towards the System now that it’s broken free from the Reaper’s control. Enough so that the livestream chats everywhere are repeating the same chant.
Down with the Reaper! Up with the System!
Despite public sentiment seemingly being positive for this change, Mikaela is more than a little worried about it. Mostly because it means the System is going to continue making changes.
The clones of progenitors in the Beta Dungeon. The livestream chats. The control the progenitor clones have over their floor themes.
How many changes is the System planning on making? And how long will it make them?
One worry after another floods Mikaela’s mind as he looks at both The Winter Wolf’s chat and the chat for his own viewing room. But when he looks at the livestream to see The Winter Wolf, the man himself doesn’t appear to be worried at all.
So Mikaela decides to trust in that and relax a bit as well.
Actually, this could be good for me. It means more interaction between the viewers and the Competitors.
He glances at the livestreams from other Competitors who are in the Administrator Dungeon. Many of whom are much further along within the thousand floors than the Wolf of the Blue Moon. Strictly because of the difference in difficulty levels between the two dungeons.
Then he looks at the Wolf of the Blue Moon again as the man occasionally glances at the livestream chat while still punching clowns in the next floor after the event boss. Almost like he’s using it to deal with his boredom while expanding his Domain.
At least it looks like he’s grown more used to his progenitor powers at this point. Which is a good sign.
Mikaela glances at the livestream chat for The Winter Wolf, only for his eyes to widen a little at what he sees.
[Anyone else here waiting for the day the Wolf of the Blue Moon breaks out of that dungeon and gives the Reaper what’s comin’ to him?!]
[I am!]
[Me!]
[Absolutely.]
[It’ll happen someday. But first we get to see him deal with the progenitor clones.]
[Wait, why is your text blue?]
[Huh? I want blue text too!]
[Probably because I’m a System Moderator.]
[Wait, does that mean Moderators and Administrators have authority over the livestream chats?!]
Interesting…
After that little bit is revealed in the channel Mikaela’s on, he looks at other channels and finds other System Executives chatting in them as well. With some of them even learning that they can temporarily ban people from livestream chats so long as they get permission from the Competitor whose livestream the chat belongs to.
Considering Wolf’s influence outside of the dungeon, it won’t be hard to get dedicated staff for his chats.
That realization makes Mikaela feel even better.
So much so that he begins to commentate on Wolf’s livestream once more as the man slaughters his way through the next few floors all the way to the boss of the floor theme. Only to slaughter the boss as well before ending up on the next floor theme.
Which is, ironically enough, a special floor theme.
This’ll be entertaining for the audience. And myself.
