Cassandra
Year 820 | Month 9 | Day 18

“To begin, Wrath is not the only Sin energy with its own plane,” the Demon King states, surprising me even more. “It is merely the last Sin plane to be destroyed and abandoned by the System. But it is by no means the only one to exist.”

My mouth parts open as I stare at him without saying a word.

He continues without missing a beat, “The Flame of Wrath. The Bolt of Pride. The Poison of Envy. The Void of Gluttony. The Steel of Greed. The Mist of Lust. And the Dream of Sloth. They are all the pieces that must be obtained by each of the Seven Deadly Sins if they wish to advance in Tier to Tier 5.”

That’s… a lot to take in.

Although it does make sense when I think about it. After all, why would only Wrath have a plane for itself?

“All of this is second-hand information told to me by the previous ruler of Hell, so take it with a grain of salt, but I was told that these Symbols of Sin are all the remains of the Protectors of the Planes of Sin,” the Demon King continues, surprising me even more. “The only one I am absolutely sure about is the Flame of Wrath as I was there when the Protector of the Plane of Hell passed away, leaving behind nothing but the Flame of Wrath.”

Huh.

I’ll have to thank Sylvester the next time I see him for killing the Protector of this plane and making it so I can get that Flame of Wrath.

“Then are you really alright with me taking the Flame of Wrath if it’s the remains of your predecessor?” I ask with a frown and a slight tilt of my head as I eat the food in front of me, finally feeling a bit more comfortable. Enough to eat at least.

The Demon King nods his head and answers, “Of course. It was His Former Majesty’s last wish. For the Flame of Wrath to be given to Wrath should they ever enter our plane.”

Huh. Now I feel bad for feeling happy about this guy’s death.

The former Demon King sounds like a nice guy. Ignoring the title that makes him sound evil, of course.

“From what he told me, the seven Protectors of the Sin Planes are supposed to be the guardians of their Symbols,” the Demon King continues. “They are to protect the Symbols from others till their dying breath. And should they ever die, releasing their Symbol, they are to make sure it ends up in the hands of their Sin’s Embodiment.”

Now I kind of want to meet this guy.

Too bad he’s dead.

I purse my lips at that thought before mentally shaking my head.

No, if he wasn’t dead then I’d be dead. Since I wouldn’t have gotten the Flame of Wrath and wouldn’t have gotten the boost in power I needed to kill the elite salamander.

“The Flame of Wrath is considered your Symbol,” the Demon King moves on to talking about the Flame itself. “Without it, you would be like an empty vessel. One without the thing necessary to prove your very identity to the universe and therefore without the means to ascend higher than Tier 4.” He leans across the table a little bit. “It is why the Flame of Wrath is capable of temporarily granting demons the ability to manipulate Wrath energy directly without any skills, and why it is so coveted by the demons.”

That would explain why the royal family can directly manipulate Wrath energy. They must’ve been tapping into the Flame of Wrath or something.

Although…

“Doesn’t that mean your family…” I start with a slight frown on my face.

He nods his head and answers my unfinished question, “Yes. My son and I will no longer be able to directly manipulate Wrath energy anymore.”

And he’s… still willing to let me have it without any fuss? Even seems happy to…

Is this really the tyrant I’ve heard so much about? From the demons and the rebels alike?

Or is he just treating me this way because I’m Wrath?

I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case.

“Don’t feel bad for us, Wrath,” the Demon King says with the flames in his eyes flaring and a rather intimidating aura leaving his body. “Flame of Wrath or not, I am still the Demon King. And I am close to reaching Tier 9.”

Oh. Yeah, he’s not going to have any issue keeping his power over Hell even if he loses his direct manipulation of Wrath energy.

I have to wonder though… would the other Sin Planes’ leaders hand their Symbol over so quietly? Or is it just Wrath?

Something tells me Greed or Envy’s planes wouldn’t just hand it over without a fuss.

It kind of makes me feel like I have it easy compared to some of the other Sins.

Well, whatever. Doesn’t matter at the end of the day.

“I believe you must be on your Tier Breach Mission as well?” the Demon King half states, half asks. But before I can answer, he adds, “Oh, and please call me by my name. Val.”

That makes things easier.

“Yes, Val, I am almost finished with my Tier Breach Mission,” I answer with a nod of my head. “I doubt it’ll take even a couple months to complete.”

The Demon King nods his head and somehow gives off the vibe of him being pleased despite not having a face as he says, “Good! Good! Please feel free to stay in my castle for as long as you’d like!”

“It’s appreciated,” I tell him with a faint smile on my face. “Do you know of any abandoned locations that won’t have anyone going near them?”

That question gives him pause for a moment before he answers, “Yes, I do. I will have a guide bring you to the locations after our meal.”

I nod my head again in a form of thank you.

While I should still keep my guard up, I think this arrangement could work very nicely.

And I doubt it’ll take long to reach Tier 5. What with my Wrath Transformation being the only thing left needing increasing.

I can also continue learning to perform my other skills through Wrath energy manipulation alone for that optional objective while I’m here.

With that thought in mind, I grab the wine in front of me before drinking it with a smile.

Time for some training.

Then I can go back to Midgard.
