Cassandra
Year 820 | Month 9 | Day 18

My eyes open rather slowly to find myself staring at a rather luxurious bed’s canopy above my head. With curtains on all sides of me that are closed, and a very comfortable bed that I’m currently lying on. Along with a blanked and numerous pillows.

Something about this feels familiar to me, and it doesn’t take long to click in my head as it’s the same type of bedding that I would wake up in back at the castle in Liathtria.

The treatment of a princess.

So… why am I here? How am I here?

Numerous possibilities flash through my mind as I try to remember the last things that happened before I passed out. Only for my eyes to widen at the memory of the Demon King standing in front of me looking down at me while I was losing consciousness.

Does that mean I’m in his castle? I would normally wonder if that was a bad thing and he was going to harm me, but if he was going to do anything, he probably wouldn’t have put me in such a luxurious bed.

I sit up and move to the edge of the bed before peeking through the curtains at the very large and luxurious room around me.

He also wouldn’t have put me up in such a luxurious room.

My eyes glance at a bell on a nightstand next to the bed. One that I’m guessing probably summons servants or something.

After that I glance down at myself to find that I’m wearing a nightgown instead of my armor.

A brief flash of panic runs through me as I wonder where the hell my armor and other gear are, only to calm down again when I find them all hung up on stands and hangers next to the bed. Without a single piece missing.

Okay, now there’s very little doubt that they’re not going to harm me at least. But there’s still the question of why I’m here in such a comfortable room.

From what I can guess, there are two possible reasons.

Either they realized I’m Wrath, or it’s because I saved that archdemon. Who I’m guessing is rather important from the mere fact that they’re, well, an archdemon.

A young one too judging by their Tier.

Maybe he’s that Demon Prince I heard about?

Considering that I remember those rebels mentioning a plan to kidnap him before, I’m guessing he must’ve been the Demon Prince. Especially since the Demon King himself arrived to save him.

That’s probably why the System gave me a mission to save him.

I climb out of bed and hurriedly change out of the nightgown to put on my armor and other equipment. Finishing it all up with my mask as always. Then I look around the room for a bit before moving towards the balcony connected to the room.

As I walk, my mind goes at a rapid pace as I think about everything that happened during the battle. About the Flame of Wrath that I still feel merging with my body. About The Calling of Wrath’s level maxing out during the battle. And about the Demon Prince and Demon King.

But when I reach the balcony and step outside, I find those thoughts immediately wiped from my mind at the sight that I’m greeted with.

The sight of a bright and full blood moon shining down on a barren wasteland and the castle itself. With my room seemingly being close to the top of said castle.

I glance at the balcony’s edge before reaching out to touch a faintly glowing crimson barrier around it. One that blocks anyone from getting in or out.

Guess they don’t want me leaving without saying anything to them.

Which makes sense.

Most people don’t want their captives to run away after all.

Then again, I probably wouldn’t get very far anyways even if I did get out. Not when the Demon King himself is Tier 8, and the other archdemons are mostly Tier 7.

I’d be caught within the hour.

Maybe within a few minutes.

My thoughts are interrupted when a knock sounds from my door and a woman’s voice asks, “Esteemed Lady Wrath, are you awake and presentable?”

Guess they do know that I’m Wrath. And they at least seem to be treating me respectfully, considering the whole ‘esteemed lady’ thing.

I glance at the curtains before looking at the double doors of the room. Then I let out a sigh and walk back inside while answering, “Yes.”

Let’s see what they want.

“Then pardon me, Esteemed Lady Wrath,” the voice comes again before the doors open to reveal four female demons, all of whom are wearing maid outfits. And all of whom are high demons as well. “We have come to prepare you for the evening’s dinner with His Majesty and His Highness.”

I frown a little at that.

Not even going to explain anything?

“My apologies, Esteemed Lady Wrath, but His Majesty wishes to explain everything to you in detail over dinner,” the maid says while bowing low to the ground. Then she stands up straight again and finally looks me in the eye for the first time since entering the room.

I blink at the slight look of fanaticism in her gaze. Like she’s looking at a god or something.

That look… doesn’t sit well with me.

Looks like one of my guesses a while back was correct. They may very well start treating me as some sort of god now that they know I’m Wrath.

Great.

Just great.

I let out a sigh as the maid asks, “Will you be wearing your equipment to dinner?”

That surprises me a little. The fact that they aren’t causing a fuss to get me in some dress or something.

Then again, maybe that’s just my world.

Or it’s because they’re treating me as a god of sorts and not a princess.

Whatever.

“I will be,” I answer with a nod while slowly walking back over to the bed.

“Then allow us to prepare you for tonight’s meal,” she says with a bow before clapping her hands, making more maids appear.

That’s a lot of maids.
