Assimilator of Chaos - Book 1 - Q&A 2

This is another Q&A for another milestone, except it's also not. Because I technically haven't hit that milestone yet, but the current chapter of the story makes a perfect spot to put a Q&A, and I'm very close to the milestone, so I'm doing the Q&A now instead of when I hit the 150k words milestone.

Anyways, all that aside, it's a Q&A. Ask any question you want about the story.

And if you ask questions about me personally, I'll probably answer them, but this is about the story, so I may not answer them depending on the question.

PS: No, book 1 isn't complete yet still.

Also, enjoy the wallpaper art. I'm using this for my laptop's background myself :)

Comments

Nope. Unless it is directly stated in the synopsis of a story, I do not connect any of my universes. And of my current ongoing stories, none of them are nor will ever be connected in any way.

WolfShine

First and foremost, I want to let you know that this is currently in my top 3 favorite stories! My questionis kind of about all your stories, including this one. Are they in any way connected? Will we be able to see characters from one fiction in any of the others? For example: will Ashley ever cameo in Reaper's Resurgence? Sorry for triple question. Keep up the fantastic work!

Riley, Glutton of All the Foods

Actually, only half of my male lead stores have an adopted daughter in them. The ones you quoted in this comment. That aside, no, there won't be a way to level skills. If she wants a higher level of a certain skill, she'll have to search for a monster or user with that same skill but at a higher level and take it from them.

WolfShine

Will there be a way for her to level up her skills? I know it’s stated that that’s the cost of her skill but I would like to see if there is a way for her to sacrifice unneeded skill trees to level up some of her favorites. Also are you going to add an adorable comic relief companion or is chaos taking that roll in this series? I’ve noticed in most of the books I’ve read from you there is at least one character that falls into that category (even if it’s one that actually has substance in the story I.e winter wolf and wolf of the blood moon) or adopted daughter (all male stories I.e. winter wolf and eternal winter )

zombies wolking

The target keeps their skills. This has already been shown and directly stated in System Forums posts and in intermission chapters.

WolfShine

For the skill trees she gets when in an event and the target gets respawned, does the target keep their skills, or are they lost to assimilate?

Pete's Place Garage

I don't really have any questions- or rather, I know that the questions I do have will be answered in the future as I read on- but I just wanted to say that this is an incredibly fun series to read! Since I'm all caught up on this already, I'll have to browse your other stories again haha!

Memhotep

She will never make up with her parents.

WolfShine

Will you have Ashley understand her parents and have some sort of relationship with them or will she be antagonistic towards them

Jalil Hayes

Yes, she will. But she will also eventually fight Unique Monsters in Official System Events as well in the very distant future.

WolfShine

How do you always somehow manage to post assimilator chapters right after I go to sleep? Do I just have really bad luck? ;-; also my question is whether your planning for Ashley to fight more unique monsters in the future, I mean the ones that have escaped from their domains and are now running wild in the universe

Zuuuuuri

No, they aren't special. There are plenty of monsters throughout the universe with multiple different root skills amongst their species. However, the Tutorial was set up so that only those types of monsters were in it.

WolfShine

Are the monsters of the tutorial special because they are the only ones we have seen that have different root skills for the same root skill tree while the other monsters only have the one?

KhaosForChaos

The target has to experience death. That's it. It doesn't matter if they're brought back to life afterwards or not.

WolfShine

What are the conditions for Assimilate to trigger? We know it doesn't require actual death (as seen with the Prince) but is a simulated death required, or just a nominal defeat of a target? If the latter, it opens an exploit where people can basically gift their skill tree... and Ashley with a set of Perfect Mana Manipulation skills would be VERY scary. Which could happen if her foster-ex-mother decides to stick an oar in.

Ronny Cook

They disappear.

WolfShine

We can see that Ashley can delete skill trees. If she deletes skill trees she's invested skill points into, do those disappear or are they refunded?

SDCard

Only that element. Not sure why a Perfect Spatial Mana Manipulation skill would have anything to do with any other element other than Spatial Mana. That said, she is given runes and can make runes of that element with a Perfect manipulation. So if she has Perfect manipulations of more than one element, she can mix runes between the two to make a spell mixing the two elements. But only if she has the elemental manipulation skills of both.

WolfShine

do perfect mana control skills only allow you to create new spells of that element or all. With that being said if Ashley were to gain multiple of them could she make composite spells of muliple elements.

FanObooks

Maybe. Haven't decided.

WolfShine

No. All Skill Trees have just one root skill in them no matter what.

WolfShine

Will we see the Group of high schoolers again from the first Phase of the Tutorial or some other people from the Tutorial ?

Endoles

Is it possible for a specific skill tree to have two or more separate root skills? For example, eclipse magic. Hypothetically speaking, if that were an existing skill tree, would Ashley get two root skills (E.G. creation and destruction) or would the overall principle of the root skill 'fuse' into one?

LightSpeed8282

They're overwritten. More advanced and basic skills of the same type do not stack at all. So a low destruction resistance and a high destruction resistance will have the low resistance being a dead skill that does nothing while the high resistance just does what it would normally do.

WolfShine

How do skill effects stack/do they stack at all or just get overwritten? Multiplicative, additive, or diminishing returns? Thinking about stuff like all the destruction mana resistance skills she has, or all the mana control skills offensively.

NaiculS

Eyes of Destruction.

WolfShine

What’s the “skill” that you most look forward to giving her, or your favorite that you already have?😁

DreadHawk666 Aron

I'll just copy paste one of the previous answers I've given to this question. It would depend on whether or not they're both root skills or not. If they're both root skills from the same skill tree, then the higher level one will just merge into the lower level one and she'll get the higher level one. If they are not both root skills from the same tree, then she will just end up with two of the same skill. She will continue to have the lower level skill until she goes and unlocks the higher level one in the other Skill Tree.

WolfShine

She will be able to shapeshift later on.

WolfShine

As a tiny side note, yeah. But she won't ever be Lucy's owner.

WolfShine

any plans for Ashley and Lucy to meet?

dtape467

Will she be able to turn into bird at some point in the story?

J Fall

What happens if Ashley assimilates two different skill trees that share a (non-root) skill? Can she unlock the skill through both trees then? If she unlocks it in one tree then is it also unlocked in the other?
