Space not far from Arran
Not long before the General’s Arrival on the planet

General Edward North, the strongest and most influential person within the entire Empire beside the emperor himself, repeatedly taps his foot while standing behind a large chair in which his brother-in-law, the emperor, is sitting. Meanwhile small bits of steam occasionally shoot out from his pores as the temperature around him gradually rises far higher than the cold temperature throughout the rest of the ship.

Ever since the ship left the capital, the general has felt restless. Not being able to do a single thing while being left waiting in the ship for them to reach Arran. The world where both his son and his niece are.

And that restlessness has emerged in the form of the heat that many of the crew within the bridge including the emperor himself are enjoying as the best heater on the ship.

No one would ever say that to the general’s face though.

But when the ship begins to get within sight of Arran itself, something strange happens. A powerful wave of Eternal Winter rushes across the entire planet, blocking out the work of the Sun God entirely.

“Edward,” the emperor states.

“It looks like the Vanguard is on the move,” Edward states without showing any expression on his face, even if he continues to tap his foot on the ground. “We might’ve arrived just on time.”

“Seems that way,” the emperor agrees.

The flagship rapidly approaches the planet before slowing down right outside of its atmosphere. Only for the general to be informed by his own mutated terminal that the communications are back up with the other terminals.

So without any hesitation, he states out loud, “Access the direct link between Second Lieutenant Alexander North and myself.”

|Error. User designated as Second Lieutenant Alexander North has been promoted since the loss of communications. Would the user General Edward North like to contact Frozen Consultant Alexander North instead?|

The general raises a brow at that but nods his head and says, “Affirmative,” anyways. Without any questions asked.

Because he can just ask his son when the call begins.

It only takes a few seconds for the call to connect. At which point a screen appears in the corner of the general’s vision with live footage of his son on it. Meanwhile the general hears the emperor next to him beginning to speak as if talking to someone, most likely in a call now with his daughter.

But the general ignores the emperor to walk away from his chair and focus on the call.

Only to suddenly freeze when his son changes the angle of the video to show a Tier 5 frozen one.

To show the Vanguard responsible for what’s happening.

Rage fills the general’s mind immediately upon seeing the Vanguard who is clearly threatening his son. And without saying a word to the emperor or anyone on the ship, a wave of heat energy surges forth from the general before he moves in a blur out of the ship through a hatch in the bridge. Then he floats straight down to the atmosphere by shooting out heat energy from behind him, following which he begins to expand the air around him once he reaches the atmosphere in order to fly.

All the way until he slams his heat energy-coated fist into the face of the Vanguard right when it begins to turn towards him. Cracking the ice covering the creature’s face as it flies to crash straight into the ground of the planet.

Edward quickly turns his attention to his son as he begins to inspect him, first poking at his face, then his arms, legs, and anything he can see even the slightest bit of damage on. Completely ignoring the changes in his appearance overall such as his wings and eyes as he does so.

And after determining that his son is okay, he pulls him into a hug as the boy returns the hug, having clearly been slightly exasperated by his father’s actions.

Several seconds pass as the father simply holds his son. With armored soldiers slowly floating down to the surface of the planet with cold and heat energy fueled full-body suits and energy rifles in their hands. Some cold energy empowered and others heat energy empowered.

The general only lets go of his son when the sound of shifting rubble can be head from the direction of where he sent the Vanguard flying.

He feels more than a little proud of the fact that his son is already Tier 4, but he glances at the Vanguard as the creature begins to float out of the large cloud of dust, ice, and snow that he had made. With the Vanguard having a rather displeased expression on his face as he says without breaking eye contact with the general, “Destroyer.”

The general tells his son, “Let me handle this one.”

Alex nods his head with a smile on his face. A rare occasion for him since the boy had largely stop smiling anywhere near as much ever since they lost Alex’s mother.

Then the general focuses all of his attention on the Vanguard, only to glance to the side when he notices some of the Tier 4 Frozen Lords of the world rushing over to help their Vanguard. Meanwhile his son looks down at the hive below, where the general now sees some strange sort of bug that’s had its wings clipped.

“While you do that, I’m going to finish what I started here,” Alex states in a cold tone of voice before the boy flies down into the large pit.

Edward lets his son go and instead rushes to appear right behind Alex when the Vanguard moves to capture him. Capturing the Vanguard’s wrist and throwing him back to the ground again.

“Go ahead,” Edward states when Alex sends a brief glance behind himself. “I’ll deal with this pest.”

The Vanguard emerges from the dust he once again finds himself in before spitting out a bit of glowing blue blood.

Let’s teach it a lesson first though.
