Because the 2 most powerful people on the planet suddenly getting overtaken by the successors, including a visibly traumatized child that won't talk to ANYONE is gonna be rough for them, the fact that all their other kids CBA with them unless forced is also NOT good PR. Edit: I've seen families like this before, the eldest having an entire manifesto on the situation prepared in case of interference/ as a "If you interfere with me saving [youngest brother] I will drag ALL your closet skeletons out in court" measure is pretty likely
