The Rise of the Winter Wolf - Book 5 - Chapter 45 - Turnaround

Wolf

I grin as I continue nullifying my own ice element and combatting the void energy around the spider’s body with my own void energy. Even if I’m not able to directly control the void energy personally.

The very idea of a creature that could nullify every single element in existence made absolutely no sense to me. Not with the balancing act that the universe plays on every single creature, along with the balancing factor for every species. Except apparently the progenitors.

It just didn’t line up with how reality works.

And while the fact that it is a void creature could’ve explained some of that away, I highly doubt the void creatures are somehow special just for being born from the void.

All the void is at the end of the day is another realm that happens to make up the body of The Reaper, Grim.

So why would they be special?

“That’s one ironic weakness…” Sapphire mutters, making me nod my head as the two of us watch the strange form of void energy covering the arachnid’s body imploding after attempting to absorb the void energy.

“It sure is,” I mutter in response while still making more voided eternal winter element, sending it at the mini boss, and nullifying the ice element within it. All in a single move.

The irony of a void creature being weak to the void is rather amusing, to say the least.

Although even with this weakness, I only have so much void energy within my voided eternal winter element to use. Since most of the element is made up of ice element.

It’s a massive waste of stamina.

I begin sweating as my stamina, which had already grown stretched at the fighting we’ve been doing with the mini boss up till now, gets dangerously low. So I quickly grab a stamina potion from my storage ring and down the thing.

The arachnid begins to screech in anger as cracks begin to appear across its exoskeleton beneath the creature’s hair. And soon after that, a very small amount of elements begin to leak out from those cracks.

I narrow my eyes as the leaking quickly comes to a stop after only several seconds, the creature seemingly running out of elements to leak again.

My stamina continues to drain while I push more and more void element at the mini boss. But even after all of the void element I’ve thrown at it, the spider finally manages to recover, straightening up and showing a rather hate-filled look directed right at me. Then it lets out a loud screech and begins flying through space towards me and Sapphire, who are both in front of the spaceship.

Even though its void armor is still imploding throughout the process.

I grimace and move to the side, having to stop my attack in the process since I’m still not used to nullifying elements enough to do it while moving.

The spider ends up slamming into the spaceship without dealing it any damage before immediately raising its head to glare at me again, apparently choosing to ignore Sapphire who ended up fleeing in a different direction.

But despite its anger, I can’t help but narrow my eyes slightly at the ship beneath it. Or rather, at the lack of any damage on it.

Interesting.

I stretch my claws slightly and rush straight towards the arachnid again while coating my fist in voided eternal winter before slamming my fist into an oncoming claw from the spider. Only for this clash to end up just like all of my other clashes with it.

With me being sent flying through space while coughing up a little bit of blood.

I quickly stop myself in space by shooting out a jet of ice element behind me. Then I heal my wounds again and use the distance I’ve gotten away to begin attacking it with void element again.

The spider resumes its previous screeching before rushing at me again, pushing through it in the process.

Something unexpected happens in the middle of its flight though.

The implosions come to a sudden halt as the arachnid seems to run out of the strange energy coating its hair. And immediately after that, my void element begins to push it backwards thanks to the spider’s confusion.

It doesn’t take long to regain its bearings though, the spider quickly beginning to push back again.

But now it’s not taking any damage.

Guess it’s just the strange energy coating the corrupted arachnids’ bodies that’s weak to the void element.

Which makes sense, considering that they are still void creatures.

Well, that energy was also what was absorbing the other elements.

So in that case…

A grin stretches across my face, and I release all of the ice within my body, filling the void of space with rapidly freezing chunks of ice and snow. Then I raise my hand and direct it straight towards the corrupted greater arachnid, making the ice crash into it.

And not so much as scratch the thing.

Seriously?

I sigh and snap my fingers, controlling the ice to instead just freeze it solid.

The spider somehow still manages to screech out its anger as it’s stuck in a large iceberg, making its anger clear for all nearby to know. But I just walk up to the iceberg and control the ice to attempt piercing into the mini boss.

I frown when even at point-blank-range, the ice spears still don’t pierce through its already-cracked chitin.

Seriously?

Just how tough is this thing?

Silence fills the space with the only sound being that of the angry screeching spider. Then I glance at Sapphire, who just looks tired, then the spaceships around us. And finally back at the spider again.

Hmm. Okay, that could potentially work.

The ships seem to be indestructible after all.

I glance between two of the ships before nodding my head.

Wouldn’t hurt to try.

Not like the spider can move after all.

I glance back at the spider to find some of the ice holding it in place slowly beginning to vanish every time a small flicker of the creature’s energy returns to its hair.

Guess it can move.

Either way, it won’t be moving any time soon.

I immediately begin moving towards one of the spaceships.

Let’s just hope this works.
