                                          Year 819 | Month 2 | Day 17

After spending a large chunk of my EXP, I look over my skills with a satisfied smile on my face.

Very nice. Although there’s just one more that I need to level up…

With that thought in mind, I select the plus next to Claws of Wrath before assigning 10,000 EXP and leveling it to level 3.

Congratulations! Your racial skill ‘Claws of Wrath’ has reached level 3!

Your claws grow sharper and can even cut through ethereal creatures!

My eyes widen at that for a moment before the smile on my face grows wider.

Now that’s what I needed. Even if there aren’t very many ethereal beings around the World Tree Vein for some reason.

Actually…

I glance back at the Ichor for a moment before looking at the Vein.

Maybe the ethereal beings can’t actually consume the Ichor? I’ve never actually tried watching one drink something before.

After thinking about it for a few seconds, I shake my head and focus on my skills again.

Most of them had the same improvements as the last time I leveled them, but once Wrath Shock reached level 5, it decreased the amount of Wrath I need for each bolt of Wrath lightning. So that’s a plus.

Wrathful Aura on the other hand just increased the radius that I could expand my aura, with that same decrease in amount of Wrath needed at its level 5 as Shock had.

And even with all of these skill level-ups, I should still have enough for one and a half levels after reaching Tier 3. Although the amount the levels cost is going to get extremely expensive in the later levels if it keeps raising its price at the same rate…

Especially considering the ten million EXP it costs to level The Calling of Wrath to level 3…

My thoughts come to a halt as a loud shattering sound, similar to that of the one I heard while in the dungeon, echoes from the direction of where the dungeon was.

Oh, looks like it’s time to go to the vein.

Otherwise, I might not be able to take advantage of that distraction.

With that thought in mind, I quickly begin making my way towards the Vein, all while repeatedly glancing over at the flashes of red light that begin to appear above the trees around the dungeon area.

Not too long after that, I begin to hear the familiar – and annoying – sound of monkeys shouting, followed almost immediately by the loud roar of what I recognize as the ape.

My eyes narrow slightly at the sounds, and I begin to run faster towards the Vein, all while the various other monsters nearby start to make their own calls.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It takes me several hours before I reach the clearing around the World Tree Vein thanks to constantly having to avoid the other monsters currently rushing over towards the monkeys, but once I do, I find it with quite a lot less monsters than there was the first time I saw it from my position on the cliff a while back.

And just like before, the vein is constantly changing appearance. Although now I can see that there is actually a bit of space beneath the vein that I couldn’t see before.

My mouth drops open slightly at the sight of a red liquid pouring out a tiny bit in various locations on the vein. It’s very thick, almost to the level of blood, and almost immediately disappears once it touches the ground, causing a red wave to pass through the ground before fading a few seconds later. Additionally, the red liquid is also letting off that same red mist that is filling up the forest above, except that it vanishes once it gets a few feet away from the liquid, only to reappear again above the canyon.

Wait… is that Ichor as well?

But if that’s the case, then what does that mean about the Ichor I’ve been drinking?

I stare out at the vein for a few seconds, only to be woken up from my stupor by the clashing of another pair of Tier 3 monsters fighting over one of the tiny fountains of red liquid coming out of the vein.

Okaaay… so should I just try to run past, or should I go ahead and grab a quick sip of that liquid? Because, based off how the only monsters that are fighting for it are Tier 3, it’s probably pretty damn important. And everything I’ve heard about the World Tree Vein is that it’s where the Ichor is.

I narrow my eyes at it for a few seconds, but before I can get any stupid ideas, another Tier 3 monster is suddenly thrown to the side, completely destroying the clearing around it for dozens of meters and crushing a couple of weaker Tier 2 monsters that were hiding behind it – likely being its subordinates.

Yeah, it’s probably for the best that I don’t try that until I actually reach Tier 3.

Actually, now that I think about it…

Okay, so that might actually be possible. Maybe.

I look around at the nine Tier 3 monsters in the area before looking back at the mission again.

Yeah, that really might work. Although not until after I wait out the cooldown on The Calling of Wrath.

But before I even consider that, I need to get to the other side of the vein.
