The Calling of Wrath - Chapter 41 - Another Tier Breach Mission

                                                          Cassandra
                                        Year 819 | Month 2 | Day 12

Everyone in my vicinity – including myself, the two Tier 2 monkeys in front of me, and the five Tier 1s behind them – all freeze up at the sound of an incredibly loud roar coming from the large mountain next to this one. I don’t stay frozen for long through before I quickly take advantage of the Tier 2 monkey’s hesitation to draw a large amount of Wrath into myself and sprint up to it. The creature manages to let out a short cry, only for it to be cut off almost immediately as my claws tear out its throat entirely, making it fall to the ground while gurgling on its own blood.

This shocks the other monkeys out of their stupor, but by then, I’m already moving to the next Tier 2 and making fast work of the slightly trembling level 14 monkey.

After that, I glance towards the Tier 1 monkeys – who are already running for their lives – before turning to look towards the mountain that the roar came from.

It’s that place again…

Even from here, I can see the enormous, four-to-five-meter-tall ape standing at the peak of the mountain, roaring its little heart out while beating its chest with abandon.

I turn away from the fiendish ape’s mountain to continue making my way up the one I’m on right now while pulling up the dungeon mission to see my progress, only to frown at the sight of it.

Still about seven thousand more Tier 1s to go…

It’s already been a week and a half since I entered this place, and I’m still not even halfway done with the mission!

It also doesn’t help that the monkeys are starting to get smarter and attack me in groups instead of random ones finding me and immediately attacking.

I stop walking as the sounds of several monkeys screaming enter my ears again.

Guess it’s time to slaughter some more monkeys.

                                                    A few hours later

If I didn’t know how long it took to gather this much EXP, I’d probably be very happy with it…

I shake my head at the thought before leaning back and resting against the wall of the cave.

All of this planning involved with getting EXP and assigning it to things makes me wonder if the citizens of the other two continents can manage on their own… because I’m pretty sure the nobles there won’t be offering them any assistance. And their educations are dirt-poor, so they likely won’t be able to work the System all that well.

Although it’s also possible that – depending on how their situations are with the invaders – a lot of the citizens of the other nations might start migrating to Liathtria, adding on to those that were already doing so.

I look up at the ceiling for a few minutes before shaking my head and selecting the plus to level myself up.

The amount I have now should be enough to last me for a while, so the decrease in EXP gained here should be rather insignificant compared to how fast I’ll be able to clear out these monkeys if I were to reach Tier 3. Assuming the Tier Breach Mission is even possible to do in this dungeon.

Just like usual, the warmth from stat growth spreads throughout my body with each level-up, making a smile stretch across my face. However, the smile goes away as some sort of chime echoes in my head and the Tier Breach Mission appears in my vision.

Okay, I should stop underestimating these Tier Breach Missions…

The first objective is reachable rather easily, as long as I’m willing to spend all of the EXP I had saved up to level the skill once. But the second objective will take some time to complete. Probably several weeks at the minimum, unless I can manage to find a thousand Tier 1 monsters grouped together.

Although maybe leveling The Calling of Wrath might increase the amount of time I can remain a beast?

I tilt my head against the cave wall at the thought before focusing on the third objective.

This one doesn’t make… wait, I’m guessing Wrathful Aura was probably the level 20 skill I just got.

Which means I’ll see it in a few minutes, when I go to check the skill.

As for the fourth objective? That… isn’t possible with my current skills and their levels.

I think I’d probably have to level Wrathful Infusion a bit more, because even at level 5, the skill only lets me take in the Wrath of 5 individuals.

Right as I’m about to ignore the optional objective, my thoughts come to a halt, and I turn my head to look in the direction of the Tier 3 ape’s mountain.

Hmm…

I focus on the optional objective for a few seconds before closing out of the mission and opening my skills.

This optional objective might be a little tricky, but it could be possible, with a much lower level of direct risk towards me. But for now, I should table it till I complete the other objectives. Or at least the more difficult objectives out of the others.

When my skills appear, I immediately select to expand the new skill, Wrathful Aura.

So, it’s a perception skill?

It’s not exactly the Wrath storage skill I was hoping for, but I’ll take it anyways.

After all, more information before fighting something is always useful.

Anyways, while it’s probably possible to reach Tier 3 before leaving this place, it’ll take months at the very least to do it. And I don’t have that time. Not with the invaders still in the plane; not with my duties as a princess; and not with how the dungeon monsters seem to be getting smarter and smarter as time goes on.

Who knows? The Tier 3 might even try going after me at some point. And there would be no way I could survive that.

A grimace surfaces on my face at the thought, but I close out of the note and glance at the entrance of the cave to make sure it’s still sealed off. After seeing that it is, I slowly close my eyes and begin drifting off to sleep.
