The Calling of Wrath - Chapter 30 - Tier 2

                                                                           Cassandra
                                                            Year 819 | Month 1 | Day 20

I slowly open my eyes to immediately feel an immense amount of pain radiating from all over my body, with a specific focus on my legs.

When I try to sit up, the pain magnifies even more, and I find myself quickly falling back to the ground with a gasp that immediately sends some tears down my face.

Damn, what hap-

My thoughts cut off as I realize that I’m inside of my cave, behind the barrier.

Right next to the greater abomination’s no-longer-beating heart.

My face twists slightly in disgust as I realize that I’ve been sleeping with it half on top of me before I carefully push it off of me, causing the pain in my body to flare up in the process.

I let out a grunt of pain when I fall back onto my back, only to barely lift my head to finally get a look at my body’s condition.

And it’s not good.

Both of my legs are clearly broken, with the bone of my right shin sticking clear out of my leg, and the bone around my left thigh doing the same thing straight through the muscle. Meanwhile, the rest of my body doesn’t seem to have any external injuries, considering the lack of bleeding. But if I were to guess based off of the pain I’m feeling, there’s probably a decent amount of internal injuries. Especially in my side.

I carefully lower my head to the ground before looking straight up at the ceiling.

So it might have been a little stupid to think I could actually kill a Tier 2 monster without any consequences, but at least I managed to do it.

Even if the vethrokin queen stuck her nose into the battle and helped me finish it off while nearly killing me in the process. And I’m pretty sure that if I hadn’t been thrown into the cave where the vethrokin’s hearing can’t hear me, then I’d probably be dead.

Several seconds pass in the silence of the cave as I stare up at the ceiling with my face contorted in pain.

But what am I gonna do now?

It’s not likely that I’ll be able to get up and find something to heal myself off of. Assuming I even could heal from broken bones sticking straight out of my body.

My eyes stray to a flashing symbol on the side of my vision that I hadn’t noticed before. The symbol is right next to the missions list and is basically the same as the mission list’s symbol, except with a check mark over the entire thing.

I select it, because why not, and a note appears in my vision.

Oh yeah, that’s right. The Tier Breach Mission was completed.

The mission clear note disappears and is replaced by another one, also in black.

Back to… top physical form?

So… it’ll heal me.

I blink twice at that before a smile sneaks its way through the pain onto my face.

Right as I’m about to open my status though, the Random Item Draw note appears, asking me if I want to draw for the item now or later.

I quickly select later before trying to-

Another note appears in my vision this time, with a purple coloring to it.

Yes, yes, that’s really good, now can I please open my fucking status and get healed already!

The note disappears and is replaced with my status as if the System were listening to me.

I ignore that to immediately click the plus next to my species.

Only to get another note asking me to confirm my choice.

I grit my teeth while calmly selecting yes before another note appears in its place. At the same time, all of the pain within my body comes to a sudden halt, making me let out a gasp at the suddenness of it.

As I’m reading the note, I lose all feeling in my entire body and am left simply staring up at the ceiling, hearing several unnatural sounding noises coming from my own body. All while a bright, red and gold light shines from my body, with a hint of black mixed in.

After the noises and lights eventually go away, I begin to regain my feeling again before sitting up.

Holy shit…

Unlike just minutes ago, my legs are now perfectly fine without even a single scratch on them.

I life my hands and raise them to my face before looking them over, followed by the rest of my body and finding not a single scratch what-so-ever, despite the completely ruined state of my clothes. Which I quickly fix with a little bit of MP.

After that, I glance at the heart sitting next to me before grimacing slightly.

How on Midgard did I not notice that disgusting smell earlier?

It’s terrible!

Was my pain just so bad that I didn’t pay even a single ounce of attention to the smell? Or was I just not able to smell it until now?

I ponder on that for a moment before shaking my head and dumping the heart into my spatial pouch.

Because it might be useful in the future.

It is from a Tier 2 greater abomination after all.

Now then…

I glance towards the barrier at the entrance, only to turn towards the bed.

First up, sleep.

Then I can finally leave the forest’s center in the morning.
