I open my status with a slightly disgusted look on my face at the flavor of the slightly charred direwolf meat I’m eating.

Okay, so at this point I think I should start saving up my EXP to focus on leveling up after completing the mission.
I look over my stats for a few seconds before checking on my skills next.

From what I’ve been able to figure out from leveling, the amount of EXP a skill takes to level-up is dependent on the maximum level the skill can reach.
So The Calling of Wrath costs 10000 EXP to level up from level 1 to level 2, while Claws of Wrath and Fangs of Wrath cost 1000 EXP to reach level 2 and 10000 to reach level 3. Meanwhile, the Class skills have so far both been skills with a maximum level of 30 and have both cost the same price for each level, with the price always being double the price for the last level-up.
My grimace deepens as I swallow the meat.
What I wouldn’t do right now for some nice bread or cheese.
A snarl suddenly comes from the other side of the small clearing I’m in, so I jump to my feet while swiping my arm through the System note to close it and turning to look at the sound, only to find a direwolf entering the clearing.
My eyebrows raise in surprise.
So there are still direwolves around here?
I was starting to wonder if they were all killed or not during the initial release of those other monsters.
Right as I’m about to deal with the little guy, I pause at the sight of its level.
It’s… level 10?
That’s not normal for a direwolf.
I stare at it for a few seconds, only moving to the side as the direwolf leaps at me.
Guess it probably had to get stronger to survive the other monsters.
But doesn’t that mean that as the monsters lower in numbers, they’re also going to be getting stronger personally?
I purse my lips at the thought before sprinting towards the direwolf right as it lands on the ground where I was just standing. It tries to turn around to face me, but I quickly zip in and drag my claws along its side before spinning out of its attack range.
The direwolf lets out a yelp as I feel the familiar warmth from my life steal fill my body, only for me to ignore the feeling and grab ahold of the direwolf’s tail.
It obviously doesn’t like it and turns in on its body in an attempt to bite me, but I don’t let it and instead begin swinging it around before smashing it into a nearby tree.
While it’s still dazed from the impact, I rush in and finish it off by clawing out its throat.
Once the ‘+20 EXP’ note appears on the corner of my vision, I turn back to the small fire I have burning before sitting down again.
I feel like my stats are getting reversed from when the System first initialized…
At the beginning, my highest stat was clearly DEX, with INT and WIS being close seconds. But now, thanks to my Class, STR is skyrocketing when compared to the other stats, and INT is starting to lag behind a bit.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s certainly different from how my body was before this all started…
Not to mention that it means I have to change my fighting style – which was meant for a female fighter with more agility than physical strength – to match it.
I glance at my claws next before leaning back to look at the moon.
Fortunately, due to the lack of weapons capable of holding the full force of a royal family member, we’re generally required to learn unarmed combat as a large focus in our training. So the claws being my focus in combat might not be such a bad thing.
My thoughts are interrupted as an incredibly loud screech echoes through the night, making me wince as it hurts my ears a little.
What the hell was that?
I turn to look at the direction the sound came from, only to see some smoke rising from the trees nearly a kilometer away from my current position.
Hmm, should I check it out, or should I go with the safe option of not going towards the powerful sounding monster…
I really want to see what it is, but it would probably be better if I didn’t-
As if making the decision for me, nearly two dozen vethrokin suddenly charge into the clearing, making me jump to my feet. Without any hesitation, I immediately begin running away from the mob of insects as they continue chasing after me towards the direction of the loud screech.
Shit. Guess I don’t have a choice after all.
And was that screech a call for help or something?
I send a hurried glance behind me, just to see all of the vethrokin still charging behind me without any signs of stopping.
Well, this probably won’t end very well for me.
Turning my head again to face forwards, I continue sprinting through the forest without bothering with the sticks and occasional branches whacking me in the face and shoulders until I eventually find myself breaking through the foliage into a large clearing.
And what I find in the clearing has my jaw dropping out of fear.
Are you kidding me?
Two higher Tier monsters?! At once?! In a single clearing!!!
Fortunately for me, neither of them takes their focus off of the other, so I just glance behind myself at the monsters that have been running behind me before making a beeline for the small pond at the edge of the clearing. I then take in a deep breath and jump straight in right as the vethrokin break into the clearing and begin swimming down a little bit to hide.
Once I reach the bottom of the two to three meter or so deep water, I turn back around to look out at the surface through the slightly murky water, only to find a few vethrokin sniffing around at the shore of the pond.
I wait for what must be an eternity with my need for air slowly building stronger and stronger before the vethrokin finally begin to leave the area.
After waiting for several more seconds just in case, I finally swim to the surface of the water before gasping once I break through.
Taking on a few of those vethrokin at once is hard enough and taking on over half a dozen is possible if I drag it out and take advantage of my life steal. But taking on two dozen at once is not something I can do. Not without using The Calling of Wrath.
I rub my eyes to clear them of water before focusing on the two higher Tier monsters fighting in the clearing.
