The Rise of the Winter Wolf - Book 4 - Chapter 9 -
Added 2022-07-16 21:17:47 +0000 UTCAlrighty, a couple of announcements.
For one, book 2 of The Rise of the Winter Wolf has come out, and it is doing a lot better than I originally expected it to!

Now, the next thing I would like to mention is the poll I posted.
This poll is to help me decide if I should try a different POV for my next possible story or even try writing my next story with a female main protagonist instead.
What's actually rather surprising, is that right now (as of posting this chapter) me writing my next story with a female main protagonist from a first person POV is currently winning the poll, and has been since the poll first started! Which will be something I've never tried before, to be frank with you all.
Anyways, if anyone is interested in voting on it, I posted the link. Just click on the word poll a few paragraphs above this.
Oh, and I can't remember if I mentioned this or not, but I'll be doing a poll for deciding which of the various stories I've started on my Patreon will be the next story I start on Royal Road. At some point I decided to do this instead of just going ahead and committing to Tower of Origin.

Wolf
My eyes narrow as I read further into the first thread I can find that actually has the answers I’m looking for.
The Golem of the Molten Abyss species is a unique combination of two different souls.
One of these souls controls the body of the golem itself, while the other controls a secondary body that consists of a large face that can generate extremely weak, but nearly unlimited amounts of magma slimes.
The golem body has very little speed, but despite that, it can take an extremely large amount of damage without much issue. It can also deal damage with the magma element through physical contact.
Meanwhile, the secondary body is extremely weak, but has an extremely fast and powerful regeneration, allowing it to regenerate from almost any wound.
However, despite these extremely powerful characteristics, The Golem of the Molten Abyss does have a few weaknesses.
These weaknesses include – but are not limited to – the face’s tongue, the golem’s eyes, and the creature’s stamina.
The creature’s tongue cannot regenerate, and when it is destroyed, the golem loses over half of its durability. At the same time, when the golem’s eyes are destroyed, the face loses all of its ability to regenerate.
Lastly, the only other known weakness of the creature is to just continue destroying its face until it runs out of the stamina it needs to regenerate itself.
As I’m reading the thread, I continue casually running around the platform to avoid the annoying golem, all while Sapphire slaughters the slimes.
And apparently the golem doesn’t like that, considering the footsteps made up of melted platform that its leaving behind, but it’s fine.
I close out of the forums after finishing reading everything before raising my head towards the face, only to frown at the vast distance between myself and it.
If I can’t reach the face without difficulties…
I turn my focus back onto the golem as I finally stop moving away from it.
…then I’ll have to deal with the golem first.
The golem pauses for a moment – likely surprised by my sudden stop – before it continues lumbering towards me. At the same time, I begin to move my ice element towards it as a test, only for the ice element to be wiped away by the heat of the magma radiating from the creature’s body.
Hmm… looks like I’ll need a bit more force than that.
I repeat the process with a lot more ice element this time while backing away a little bit, allowing the ice element to at least touch its… skin? Outer layer? Shell? Whatever it is, before it almost immediately dissipates afterwards from the magma flowing over parts of its surface.
Okay, well what about this?
Repeating the process one last time, I send a large amount of ice element in the form of spikes straight towards its eyes, but they only manage to pierce a tiny bit into them before melting.
My frown grows deeper at this before I finally lose my patience, pulling my fist back while leaping straight towards it and launching my gauntleted fist straight into its face.
Once my fist makes contact, I hear several cracking sounds come from the bones in my hands, along with faint sizzling sounds. But at the same time, the golem begins to fall over, with a large dent caving into its face, causing its molten eyes to pop like a balloon and spread even more magma over my fist.
“Ouch,” I mutter while pulling my fist back and shaking my hand to get the magma off.
Pain resistance is a very nice skill to have.
My thoughts are driven away from the cracking sounds of my hand beginning to heal itself as the face high above me lets out a really loud shriek.
I raise my head to look, only to find a lot more slimes beginning to fall out of its now wide-open mouth onto the platform.
Guess it’s not happy to have lost its regeneration.
Anyways, I glance back down at the golem, only to find it surprisingly trying to get back up but having a lot of difficulty doing so.
I think I overestimated how powerful this golem actually is.
It might just be the weakest boss I’ve fought so far, despite its fire abilities.
I watch it struggle to get up for a few seconds before turning my gaze to the face on the ceiling.
Now to deal with you…

Arcadian Live
“That…” Mikaela starts, only to pause with his eyes slightly widened from surprise, “is probably not how that monster is supposed to be battled when it’s at a higher level than its opponent…”
Laughter spreads throughout the stadium as the audience watches Wolf crouch before jumping straight towards the face while expelling a large amount of ice element in the form of ice-water beneath him for propulsion. The man then wastes no time ripping straight into the large face with his claws.
Meanwhile, on one of the other screens, a man can be seen floating in the middle of an enormous ocean on the sixty-second floor. The man is wearing what looks like a cowboy’s hat from the planet Earth, with a drenched, brown trench coat, and a pair of steel boots, and can be seen swimming away from a large fish with a wide grin on his face.
Niklai lets out a faint sigh as he shakes his head and mutters, “This guy might actually be getting into more troublesome situations than Wolf is…”
More laughter echoes from the viewers currently focused on the smaller screen displaying Techral’s current actions.
Right as the large fish is about to reach the man, an even larger wave comes by and sweeps the fish away. The man then turns around with another bout of laughter while raising his hand and firing out a beam of pure light at the creature, who is currently being carried away by the wave. The light pierces straight through any of the water in its path before going into the fishes body, leaving a small, burnt hole in its wake.
Techral then proceeds to fire more and more beams of light until the fish finally stops struggling against the waves and begins to sink into the ocean, dead.
“I’m starting to wonder who would win between him and Wolf,” Niklai says with a short chuckle, only to shake his head and think. ‘Not like that would ever happen though. Neither of them is the type to get into a fight for no reason.’
The commentator watches the screen silently for a few seconds before shaking his head at the sight of the Competitor laughing, only to end up coughing out a mouthful of water that happened to splash into his face.
