"Before you do that," Lord Gray suddenly interjects, stopping me from introducing my entourage, "do you perhaps know if my son is anywhere nearby? Assuming, of course, that he is here right now?"
I turn to the man in surprise before shaking my head and saying, "I'm sorry, Lord Gray, but I do not know your son's current whereabouts."
A small look of disappointment crosses the man's face before vanishing again.
"Although, he lives in my manor with the rest of my party, so he might be there," I offer before turning back to the people behind me after seeing his nod of appreciation.
First up, I wave my hand towards Damien as I say, "This is Damien Hunter, the Guildmaster for the Wolfdenn Mercenary Guild branch."
I then continue on, introducing the other members of my entourage until everyone has been thoroughly introduced, at which point I offer to host everyone within my manor.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our group makes a bit of a sight to see as we walk down the main road towards my manor, but no one dares to approach us with the double sets of guards watching us.
Meanwhile, on the way to my manor, Uncle White for some reason decided that it was a good time to regale me with stories from Kat's childhood, to her embarrassment.
At least her reactions are rather amusing.
Embarrassing stories aside, once we reach the manor, I send someone to find Pallus before having us all go into the meeting room. Without the guards, because that would just be too crowded.
Right as we are about to begin our discussions, we all stop as a very loud mixture of a roar and a howl echoes throughout the area.
"What the hell?" I mutter while turning to look at Damien, who is still perfectly calm, and even has a smile on his face.
"It looks like," he begins before Uncle White finishes for him, "your dungeon neighbor has just created its first Tier 2 boss."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fenrir
Almost a day prior to the roar
I think that's enough of watching intruders for now.
It's time to promote Fang!
Although, before I do that...
I quickly create another monster to replace Fang on the third floor.
Okay, now it should be good.
I open my status before ordering Fang to head towards the tenth floor.

Good. I'm at my maximum mana capacity.
As soon as Fang steps out of the floor, a notification appears in my vision.
<------------------------>
Dungeon Notification:
Your third-floor mini boss has left its floor.
If mini boss 'Fang' does not return to the third floor within one hour, then he will cease to be the mini boss of the third floor.
<------------------------>
Okay, now I just have to wait for him to reach the tenth floor.
Which could take a while. Even with him going through the secret tunnels to avoid intruders.
As Fang is traveling, I switch my focus to see what Dawn is up to before finding her fighting with intruders on the fourth floor in the body of a direwolf.
Huh, I don't catch her as she's fighting very often.
Might as well watch as I wait.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am interrupted from watching Dawn as a notification appears in my vision.
<------------------------>
Dungeon Notification:
Your third-floor mini boss has been demoted from its status as a mini boss for leaving its floor for an hour.
<------------------------>
It's about time...
I glance at Fang, quickly finding it on the ninth floor, before I turn my attention towards the replacement I made for him.
Let's turn you into the new third-floor mini boss before I turn Fang into a boss. After all, it would suck to have a group of intruders reach the third floor without a mini boss being there.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After I deal with making a new third-floor mini boss, I turn my attention back towards Fang to finally find him on the tenth floor, heading the last stretches of the way towards the unfinished boss room.
The boss room of which I can complete later. After I make my first Tier 2 boss.
Ignoring that for now, I watch Fang enter the boss room before focusing on his body, and his pattern.
Let's see about forcefully leveling you up... I have only done this once before, so it might take a few tries.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several minutes later
Huh, that didn't take as long as I was expecting it to...
To forcefully level a monster, I just have to forcefully inject mana into its pattern, making it stronger and more rich in mana while also using my mana to reinforce and keep together the edges of the pattern.
Doing this only lets me raise the creature's level to my own level, and it takes a lot of mana, but it works nonetheless.
It just isn't worth it to do thanks to the massive amount of mana that is wasted during the process.
Which I didn't really factor in when I was considering my mana costs...

So... I guess I'm going to be waiting again for my mana to regenerate...
Forcefully leveling a monster by even just six or so levels is extremely expensive... although some of that was also from making a new mini boss for the third floor to replace Fang.
Either way, at least it worked.
I identify Fang to look at its status.

Name: Fang
Race: Void Direwolf

EXP Level: 10
EXP: 0/110
Mana: 200/200

Huh, that's a lot more mana than I was expecting...
Actually, nevermind. I guess he is technically a Tier 2 monster now, even if he isn't a mini boss right now.
Well, time to go back to watching the intruders until my mana fully regenerates.

That was already fixed earlier, possibly while you were reading this chapter.
