Dungeon from the Void - Book 4 - Chapter 6 - Revelation

                                                                                          Leon

A couple of days later

I am interrupted from my cultivation as a knock sounds from my bedroom door. Soon after the knock, before I can even put my helmet on to hide my ears, the door to my room opens and Ari barges right on in while closing the door behind her.

"Seriously?" I mutter with a frown as I climb to my feet. "You know that you're supposed to wait for a response after you knock, right?"

Ari nods her head and says, "Yeah, of course. But you're my brother, so it's fine."

My frown deepens further at her comment before I sigh.

"It's not fine," I say while moving over across the floor of my room to the safe behind my bookshelf so that I can store the orb I was using to cultivate. "Why are you here anyways?"

Ari moves up to me as I finish entering in the combination to my safe before briefly hugging me and heading over to one of the chairs spread about the room.

"Do I have to have a reason to visit my brother?" she asks as I hear her sitting down.

I place the orb into the safe before closing it again and locking it while retorting, "When you barge into my room while I'm cultivating, you do need a reason."

Although I would prefer she not just barge into my room whenever she wants with or without a reason.

When I turn around, I find her lounging on one of the chairs with her feet resting on the table placed next to it.

I take the time to check my status as I'm waiting for her response.

Hmm, not too bad. At the rate I'm going now, thanks to the orbs, I should be able to reach Tier 2 within the next several months. Which is a pretty good time, even for a noble at my age.

My thoughts are driven back to the topic at hand as Ari finally says, "Fine, I am here to tell you something from dad."

"Dad?" I mutter, turning towards her before looking for a chair near her.

"He says that the Raizel Empire is going to be butting into the war going on between the Orcs and Humans," she continues, not really surprising me in the slightest.

After all, dad - nice as he is towards me and Ari - is an opportunist through an through. If he sees a way to improve the Raizel Empire, he's gonna take it no matter what, with the only exclusion being if it costs me or Ari.

It's probably one of the reasons why so many people tend to be afraid of him, aside from his Tier 8 power as a cultivator of course.

"I figured as much," I say as I sit down on the opposite side of the table from her, "but thanks for the heads-up nonetheless."

Surprisingly, Ari doesn't move from her chair and actually fidgets a few times.

Wait, she is fidgeting? The hell?

"Is there something else?" I ask with a frown.

"Yeeeaaah..." Ari begins, raising my curiosity even higher, "he also told me that he will be working with a third party, uninvolved directly with the war so that he can join in."

I raise an eyebrow slightly at that.

A third party? That's interesting, but not all that surprising.

"This third party," I begin while reaching for a wine bottle that was left by one of the housekeepers earlier today on the table between us, "do you know who they are?"

"They're a Tier 5 individual from The Drezar Kingdom, and an old acquaintance of our father's," she continues, still fidgeting a little bit with her hands as I grab a wine glass from near the bottle.

"That makes sense," I state while pouring the wine into the glass, "otherwise he might not be able to politically put himself into the two Lord's conflict."

"Yeah," Ari says, catching my attention due to the almost rushed manner she said it, "but the person he is going to be working with..."

I raise my glass of wine to my lips before taking a sip of the red liquid right as she finishes...

"...is your birth mother." she finishes quickly, causing me to cough on the wine as it goes down the wrong pipe.

"What *cough* the what?!" I shout in between coughs as I shoot up to my feet.

"My mother?!?" I shout after taking another sip of wine to ease my throat from the coughing fit. "She is a Lady living in The Drezar Kingdom?!"

But the only damned Tier 5 woman in The Drezar Kingdom is...

That can't be!

"What the hell, dad?!" I shout. "She is my mother?!"

Ari looks surprised for a second before realization dawns on her face and she looks away as she stops fidgeting. "I forgot that you have already been in contact with her."

A knock sounds from my bedroom door, followed by one of the maids asking, "Are you alright in there, City Lord?"

I force myself to calm down before calling out, "Yes, I'm fine."

After my response, I hear footsteps moving away from the door, signaling the maid's exit from the area.

A few minutes pass in silence before I sigh.

At least this explains why she was perfectly fine with giving me so much just for a simple embassy...

I stare at the now-empty glass in my hand before sitting back down on the chair and refilling the glass.

Which also makes that idiot Arthur my half-brother...

Although that doesn't mean that I'm going to care about him at all...

My thoughts trail off as I realize that Ari is still fidgeting.

"I don't care if you're only my half-sister, you're still my only sibling in my eyes," I tell her with a smile, deciding to ignore this new information.

I never cared much about figuring out who my mother was anyways.

Surprisingly, Ari actually starts crying before she disappears from the chair, and I feel her hugging me.

I awkwardly pat her back to console her.
