Dungeon from the Void - Book 4 - Chapter 4 - A Waste of Time

                                                                                           Fenrir

A little over one day later

As soon as I feel my mana reach full capacity again, I end my cultivation session and turn my attention towards the eighth and ninth floors of my dungeon. I had done them over the various breaks I took during the past month or so, and they are both a little bit of a change of pace from my usual floors.

The eighth floor uses the scythian wolves that I had created as the main monster throughout the floor, and it focuses mostly on puzzles, with another labyrinth layout similar to the second floor. Except larger, and with more traps and different types of rooms.

As for the ninth floor? I decided to go really simple for that one, seeing as it's the last floor of the Tier 1 floors before the boss floor, so I made it similar to the first floor. Just a simple battle through the rooms, with no confusing paths or puzzles. Nothing but a bunch of monsters and traps.

However, now that I have plenty of time to work, and the ability to make Tier 2 monsters, I'm gonna go all out with the tenth floor.

I turn my attention towards Dawn for a second to find her still with Fang before I focus on the area near my core room on the ninth floor. I then begin digging down at a breakneck pace until I reach the point where my instincts tell me is deep enough for the next floor at which point I begin expanding outwards to make a large cavern.

At some point during the process, I lose track of time. It isn't until I hear Dawn ask me something that I break out of my reverie and realize that I had spent several hours just clearing out enormous caverns.

"Hello? Did you hear me?" Dawn asks before repeating her question. "I asked what you are planning on doing about the party of intruders that are still camping on the first room of the dungeon!"

Wait.... what?

I turn my attention towards the first room to find a group of intruders - the same ones from a day ago - lazing around in the room.

The hell are they doing?

'Why are you here if you aren't fighting?' I bluntly ask the strongest member of their party, which happens to be the first one I identified yesterday. An Elf named Orion.

The Elf had had their eyes closed but they open them after hearing my voice in their head. Meanwhile a grin begins to stretch across their face.

"To speak with you," the Elf says, his voice sounding almost song-like in its flow, making me glance at the instrument in his hand.

Is this guy a bard or something? Who brings an instrument into a dungeon?

'You could have just tried asking,' I respond back to him, my core flaring slightly in my irritation.

Orion looks at the other intruders around him - each one of them being an elf - before he focuses on the ceiling and says, "That may be true, but this place was peaceful and quiet. And I knew that you would speak to me eventually if I stayed here, but I wasn't sure if you would speak if I tried speaking to you first."

"So he just stayed there to annoy you into speaking..." I hear Dawn mutter from the side with a strange mixture of irritation and amusement.

I ignore her as I ask, 'What do you want?'

The Elf hums for a few seconds before saying, "Oh, we just want to see if you can fix something for us."

They want me to... fix something?

'What do you want me to fix?' I ask, my voice slightly less harsh this time.

Orion purses his lips for grinning again as he says, "Nothing for now."

My irritation begins to come back with a vengeance. Meanwhile, I hear Dawn beginning to giggle from her place near Fang.

'Then why exactly did you come here and bother me?' I repeat my question from earlier, briefly noting how all of them are starting to get up from their places on the floor.

Orion spreads his arms out before bringing them in again as he calmly says, "To see if I thought you could repair the item when you reach a higher Tier."

'And?' I ask, my patience beginning to run thin at his way of forcing me to ask more and more questions without giving me any explicit answers. 'Do you think I can?'

The Elf opens his eyes again with a smile and says, "Yes. I do. So we will come back in the future with the item. Both my master and I."

Right as I am about to ask him what the item is again, he and his entire party all vanish without a trace, leaving me frustrated. Meanwhile, Dawn doesn't seem to want to stop giggling.

I glance at her as a tint of red covers my core's color, displaying my irritation, before returning my focus to the tenth floor that I was building.

Well, that was a complete waste of my damn time.

In a small cabin located on another continent

"So?" a woman wearing a fancy looking red robe asks. She has her blazing red hair tied back out of her way as she stares up at the Elves standing in front of her with her crimson eyes. "Did you confirm if the rumors were true or not?"

Orion kneels in front of the woman, accompanied by all of the other Elves around him as he answers, "Yes, master. I have indeed confirmed the rumors."

The woman's eyes grow sharper at the confirmation before she turns to look out the window of the cabin at the strange red rain falling outside of the cabin.

"So, his last message wasn't a falsehood," the woman - a blood elf - mutters to herself, "that old wolf actually managed to find a void element dungeon core before he died..."

The gathered Elves all continue kneeling without a word around her until the woman turns back to Orion and says, "Make sure those bloodsuckers don't cause any problems for the core."

She then waves her hand, causing all of the Elves to disappear in a faint splash of blood as they all teleport away from her.
