2025-09-04 07:14:41 +0000 UTCI did have an experience with a job and it was working at a McDonald’s in my home state and I’ve actually been going to that McDonald’s since I was a kid because it’s like right by my house and I actually got the job because the manager knew me and said you know what we’re having a training on Saturday for new hires just go ahead and show up… That should’ve been my first clue. but the thing that made me really not like working there and realized that like that was not where I wanted to work was actually not a customer situation or anything it actually just had to do with one of the managers in my job. So I was still fairly new so I was working the front register and we weren’t busy and so my manager came over and told me you know when we’re not busy maybe go like grab some trays and clean them like wipe them down and you can also just check and see if the drink station is clean and if there’s cups and straws and napkins and everything that they need which I was totally fine with us was like OK will do, but while they were talking to me, I had been not really leaning, but like standing against the wall and so my manager starts getting an attitude with me and it’s all of a sudden like oh, and you really shouldn’t be leaning against the wall. And I didn’t say it, but like I was like first of all I wasn’t leaning and secondly, I was just standing here listening to you give me directions like would you rather me be busy doing something while you’re talking to me so then it looks like I’m not paying attention? And then like a couple weeks later I was set to leave and they instead were like well. We still need you so can you just do a few minutes in the back like I know you don’t like that station but you won’t be there for long so I’m like OK fine sure But when it was time to go, of course I had to wait for the next person to come in to cover and so I was really annoyed and yes, I might’ve had a bit of attitude myself just due to the situation and dealing with this manager, but because I got a little bit of an attitude, they decided to write me up. But the person who hired me who was the general manager, saw that and came to me and was like hey you know what happened what’s going on and I told the story and they’re like OK well, I’m not gonna put this down as an official mark or anything like that I’ll just basically tear up the paper and throw it out. I think I worked there for five months before I finally turned in my two week notice but as a last thing that definitely made me positive that I left for good reason was even though I put in my two weeks I mistakenly thought that my job would keep track of when those two weeks were up so they wouldn’t put me on the schedule. However, I come in one day cause I was on the schedule and the managers like what are you doing here? It’s been two weeks and I’m like oh OK well then can I leave and they’re like no we need you so I end up having to work like an extra day, which isn’t that bad but I’m still just like what the heck man. And to this day, the manager that got on to me about leaning against the wall, if she sees me will give me the dirtiest look, and like even my mother has seen it.

Totally agree about Monica, I'm the same way which is why I could never be in such a management position. The staff at the restaurant irritated me so much and a part of me wanted her to fire them all. Phoebe's song is a Christmas classic for me at this point and Rachel & Chandler is such an underrated duo!

I managed it ok for a year or so but by the end of it I ended up having a mental breakdown in the middle of a shift during our christmas sale period told my manager to fuck off and left it was awful.

2025-09-03 18:16:40 +0000 UTCI worked in a sandwich shop up the road from where I lived when I was 16 and honestly I quit on first day I hated it. The first thing they got me to do was mix the tuna mayonnaise and I hated tuna - it really made me gag ( even now I cannot stand it) and I immediately thought shit what have I done. But they could see I was struggling and said are you sure you want to be here, I said I feel I have made a mistake but il be here until end of the day which they appreciated, but understood it was not for everyone.
