This pisses me off so much. She says that she grew up on insults and that it wasn’t until kindergarten that she learned her name wasn’t “Garbage Face”. Sounds like the opposite of a warm and nurturing environment to grow up and thrive in. Yes, she was angry and bitchy towards people because she was scared of what would happen when they found out about her sexuality, but that was only fueled by the most important people in her life tearing her down before she even learned to talk. She had to learn to protect herself at such a young age and she actually doesn’t seek out trouble very often, as most of her insults and fights are reactions to others and threats to her precious image that she so carefully curated to protect her soft and vulnerable true self. Even once she is out and proud, she still doesn’t seek out fights and still only reacts when others say negative things to her, which is completely normal.

Why, I mean really, why doesn't anyone question why Santana is so closed off and defensive, why she tears people down (it's more than just tearing herself down ... someone TAUGHT her to tear herself down, someone taught her she wasn't good enough, instilled in her those insecurities, paid for and signed off on a 16 year old getting a boob job). Seems like all they see is a bitch and don't care about the why. Which, I sort of get; they're all teenagers dealing with their own crap. This, however, isn't the first indication we've gotten that Santana may have not exactly had a sunshine and puppies upbringing. Glee seriously effed this up.
