This is the 2nd least watched episode for me (after The Quarterback) because it makes me too emotional. But Back to Black is definitely one of Santana/Naya's best solos of the show!

2025-04-15 09:02:22 +0000 UTCWow, that’s so true! Why did I not notice that Rachel didn’t move either? Haha

2025-04-15 09:01:48 +0000 UTCI really feel like Mercedes, Rachel, and Santana all did amazing but in totally different ways. But I do agree with you on Mercedes picking a song that is pretty old for her. That’s the trouble of being young is that a lot of the epic songs really aren’t relatable just yet because we don’t have a life experience.

2025-04-15 09:00:58 +0000 UTCOh my God, she named her baby after her! That’s so sweet. I didn’t know that.

2025-04-15 08:59:19 +0000 UTCI’m so sorry, sweetie. But it sounds like maybe it was a good release for you. Sometimes it’s nice to have a good cry to let go of What has been building up again. Hugs!

2025-04-15 08:57:17 +0000 UTCYep, I fully agree! Hands down some of my favorite performances in this episode

2025-04-15 08:55:55 +0000 UTCI really love all of her insults. I know that they could be pretty messed up sometimes but as long as they’re funny, then I can remember that it’s just a TV show.

2025-04-15 08:55:06 +0000 UTC12:46 I never noticed that Chris Colfer has a prominent widow's peak. Combined with the "Frankenteen" of Finn, that was one of Sue's more creative insults.

2025-04-14 07:22:44 +0000 UTCthis episode is definitely one of my favorites. Santanas rendition of back to black is one of my favorite solos of hers and Kurt and Mercedes solos are great too. Rachel's "my man" performance is many peoples favorite solo of hers and while I totally agree nothing for me tops "who are you now?" in season 5 it makes me nearly cry every time. I love the funeral so much and how it showcases the beauty and creativity of someone who was viewed different their whole life., its so heartbreaking but lovely especially knowing about the actresses real health struggles that prompted this plot. This episode provides so much depth for sues character too which I really enjoy. pure imagination is one of my favorites.

2025-04-14 03:10:05 +0000 UTCRobin Trocki (Jean Sylvester) didn’t pass away until Dec 2019 from Alzheimer’s disease. Most likely she had gotten to the point were she wasn’t able to work any more. Sue’s baby is named after her.

2025-04-13 08:28:12 +0000 UTCThis episode was always a stand out to me, for the exact reasons you’ve said! Especially now in my slow, millionth rewatch and I’m seeing things with fresh eyes. If I had to rank the 4 solos: Mercedes, then Rachel, then Santana, and Kurt last. But only because I don’t love his song choice as much as the others. I really like how they were complimenting each other at the end. Especially from Rachel because she doesn’t compliment other people’s talent that often. I agree that not thinking you need to rehearse is t a good mindset to have not you can’t argue with the results! And while they didn’t choose a winner, Rachel kind of did win because she still sings the duet at Nationals. Santana gets some of the group number but Kurt and Mercedes get nothing as usual. 🙄Also, why was Mercedes and Quinn in Easter-like outfits for a funeral? Never made sense. Some fun facts that we didn’t get to: Jean was written out of the show because her actress’s health got so bad that she could act anymore.☹️ The dress that Rachel is wearing in My Man was from Leas personal closet because she was so excited to do that song.

2025-04-13 05:24:31 +0000 UTCOmg I forgot what happened in this episode this episode hit me so fucking hard for context I lost my mum 3 moths ago the day after my 22 birthday this made me sob to the point that my man woke up beside me and was so concerned after he saw what it was he just cuddled me until I calmed down also my dog olive jumped on my knee and was licking away m tears wow that was unexpected the rollercoaster of greaf I guess

2025-04-12 22:49:59 +0000 UTCAlso the actress that played Jean died in real life which is why this plot line was happening at the same time as prep for nationals and why so many other characters have no lines this episode always gets me

2025-04-12 22:34:14 +0000 UTCPersonally Rachel had the best cover with Santana as second then Kurt then Mercedes I’m sorry but this is my least favorite Mercedes moment. I think it would sound better if she were older at this point some of her notes could be a bit messy for ME personally. Jesse was being biased but he really snapped you back into reality about flaws but he did go too far. Rachel sang her song like it was written for her she always excels at Barbra songs this is one of her best vocal moments of not her very best period. I prefer it over rain on my parade (I prefer Santana’s lol) Santana did amazing that’s why she got to do Valerie from that same song

2025-04-12 22:24:51 +0000 UTCI love how Jesse's comments are reflections of reality judges, but turned up to eleven. Such a Glee move.

2025-04-12 17:02:25 +0000 UTCJesse ripping into Mercedes for no choreography is RICH giving that Rachel literally just stands there. This episode hits me harder now as an adult than it did when it aired and I was a teen. From 2020 until now my family has lost more than 30 people we care about - friends, family, colleagues, ranging in age from 15-94. So the funeral scene itself just really gets to me now. Also, I can't believe Finn actually dumped Quinn after the funeral in the parking lot. It's fine that he wanted to end things but at least wait until the next day.

2025-04-12 07:45:36 +0000 UTCThis episode always hits me hard cause my little cousin passed away not long before I watched it for the first time. I think ofnhim every time I watch it and so it's become a favourite episode of mine. Plus getting to hear more kurt and Santana songs always makes me happy.
