Oh yeah! I found plenty of men attractive, but when they open their mouth and start talking, they suddenly are super ugly

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Absolutely valid! It seems like this TV show is constantly bombarded with lack of communication. If they would all be mature adults and sit down and talk about things then they’re probably wouldn’t be a problem! However, then we wouldn’t have a very entertaining TV show.

I don't agree with Ross, but I understand his thinking. Friends is based on the culture of the 90s and back then it was normal for men to think that just because they had a girlfriend or a wife meant that they owned her and that they should be part of every aspect of her life. This is different from how we think now. Now we know that women are free to have their own jobs and achieve their own things without being in the shadow of a man. Leaving this element aside, we also know that to have a healthy relationship we don't just need to be hobbies but we must to have our own hobbies and do things for ourselves from time to time. What I agree with Ross about is the issue of lack of time, because they really needed to find a middle ground to have time together and maintain the relationship. There is no way you can sustain a relationship if both of you don't have the time to maintain the relationship. Dialogue is essential and finding a middle ground is also essential. Even though I see that Ross is being a little sexist and dependent, he is saying what a good part of the men in that decade thought. It doesn't justify it but we can take a lesson from it. In the sense of, what you shouldn't ask to a partner or say it.

I honestly think Ross gets too much of the hate and Rachel not enough. Ross has only ever been in one other really serious relationship besides Rachel (Julie wasn't that serious) and that ended with Carol cheating on him to be with a "friend" that Ross trusted her with. She pulled away and he got burned, now he's feeling like Rachel is pulling away too. He has told her multiple times that he has insecurities and issues and we don't really see Rachel actually help him through that. Rachel was dismissive of his fears about Mark, she hugged Mark first when he told her that she got the job, she didn't talk to Ross about going to prep for the interview she just told him she was going to do it, and we only see her flaking on their plans last minute and not actually rescheduling them. Rachel had her own insecurities; she wanted Ross to not be jealous of Mark but she got jealous of Ross making a play date with the stripper. And honestly Monica isn't blameless. She knows everything her brother has been through and in a way makes it worse by talking about how hot Mark is. Yes Monica had a point when she told Ross that even if Mark had a crush on Rachel that doesn't mean anything is going to happen, but she was super aggressive about it. She yelled at him to "grow up" rather than talk to him. No one is really talking to Ross and he obviously has a hard time opening up about things himself. This is one of those times where I think "everyone sucks " a because it could be handled much better but for the sake of the plot people get vilified at different times, and to different degrees. Is Ross being somewhat controlling? Yes, but I don't think he is doing it intentionally or maliciously. Is Rachel a little oblivious? Yes, but again, I don't think it's coming from a bad place. I just don't think this issue is one sided.

Oh thanks I don't know why I thought otherwise 😂

I agree with you about the Ross and Rachel thing. My red alerts go up whenever a guy shows any bit of controlling behavior and this is definitely bugging me (way more than I remembered). Also, I think the Ginger she is referring to is the character from Giligan’s Island (tv show from the 60s)? Cause of the theme song, she sings “the movie star” and the rest of the song goes “the professor and Mary Anne, here on giligian’s isle” lol. I watched it a ton at my grandmas house when I was a kid.

I'd have no issue dating someone with more than 2 nipples. It's their personality that counts in the end. Like your body could have a normal amount of everything it's supposed to have, but if our personalities don't mesh together well then it's not going to work.

Azure Rickers

Well.. you have something to look forward to in the next few episodes... then i make a concrete statement about it, but i agree with you

Tereza

Totally agree with the Ross behavior. I don’t like how he’s turning out with her.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Whaaaat! That’s cool! Haha!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

i have four nipples lmao but the extra two don't have sensitivity 🤷🏼‍♂️

Gavin DeFazio-Devine

Yes I would date someone with 3 nipples. Or 4! Harry Styles has 4 and I would definitely date him 😍 But ugh Ross is so frustrating in these episodes. It's not just a co-dependency thing, it's a controlling thing. I can understand feeling like your significant other is slipping away but his jealousy is HIS problem and it’s HIS responsibility to fix it. His behaviour implies that for a woman to have a career or a male friend is somehow akin to a betrayal and I really hate how much the show wants us to empathise with him. It really does seem like he preferred it when she was a waitress because it was easier for him, regardless of how unfulfilled she was. The thing is, he looked down on her for her job back then, but now that she has one that makes her seem more like an equal, he feels threatened by it. It’s just really selfish and manipulative behaviour. Fun fact: Leslie, Phoebe's ex-partner, is played by Elizabeth Daily (often credited as E. G. Daily), sang in the dub over Lisa Kudrow in the Smelly Cat music video back in 2x17. Btw, the Ginger "movie star" Monica mentioned is Ginger Rogers. She and Fred Astaire were dance partners in a total of 10 movies.

Heida

Yes I would! It would not bother me atall
