I was never a really big taylor swift fan, but I did buy this album when it originally came out and tiktok has shown me how it has a very emo core, which is probably why I liked it but also.... DamnThis album is self written, and the melodies are strong. I don't really care a lot about the topic of the song speak now, but that melody on that chorus is great

I'm a little late to this party but will chime in with my two cents on your "mistake" anyways - I loved watching that part! I think it actually gives you even more credibility (if that's possible) in your reactions, especially comparing old/new Taylor. It would have been worse if you found all sorts of differences between the two same versions that didn't exist. Instead you basically identified that it was the same track without even knowing it - well done!

I like to think of tv as the healed reminiscing of the og almost angsty version. its so different because she's like 10-15 years removed from those feelings

Hi! I actually LOVE this reaction.
I, to be honest, feel like the stolen version of Speak Now is "focused" on emotions in her voice and the Taylor's Version ist more focused on a "storytelling" vocal position

i loved this!!! the difference in emotion was the very first thing I noticed when listening to taylor's version. the original album was released so long ago that taylor doesn't relate to those emotions anymore. she's matured and moved past it all and it's hard to sing with emotion you don't feel anymore. your little mistake was pretty funny, but an honest mistake! i'm glad you were able to go back and hear the actual original version. i'm so excited to see more reactions to these songs, especially last kiss bc it's my favorite!

I love that you left the Speak Now snafu in for Patreon. It was funny and human, we all make mistakes.
I enjoy both the original and Taylor’s versions. I find both versions of the songs to have emotional weight and impact however they are not necessarily in the same moments throughout the songs.
It’s funny watching you do this comparison I thought I was going to like the originals more because I have this memory of them built up in my head but maybe it’s because I don’t listen to them anymore and only stream the Taylor’s version but I actually enjoyed the Taylor’s version more. Like I mentioned earlier I still feel the emotion, yes it’s different but it’s still there for me, and I can’t deny the quality of the vocals.
She does pay tribute to the originals certainly but a times she does choose to change elements of the production. Not 100% sure why but from what I have seen speculated is some of the final production choices on the originals weren’t always exactly what she wanted when she didn’t have complete control. I don’t know how true that is.

I think it is important to note that when she wrote those original songs she was experiencing that at the time, when she had rewritten for Taylor versions she has long healed

So you screwed up and made a mistake???

Taylor just laughs at her mistakes, forgiving herself for them occurring in front of record setting crowds. Give yourself the same grace.

Honesty overcomes majority of our mistakes 😀
If you were perfect, we'd envy you, so it was 'nice' of you to stay down-to-earth with the rest of us mortals! 😉

I SO appreciate and respect you!! Haven’t heard the first songs yet, but just heard your explainer at the top. Have been checking back for this post, and totally get it. 🫶🏾
One of my favorite things about Taylor is that she makes me feel ok about my imperfections, or times when I feel awkward, or make mistakes—because she sets the example of it being cool to be yourself and vulnerable in her music and in how she moves through the world. Your decision here really reminds me of that. And while I know it’s super scary, I really appreciate your openness and honesty (and you keeping it in here). I’m sure it’ll help us all give ourselves some grace in life! So, thank you!! (And hey…they tried to cancel Taylor, and look at her now! 💁🏽♀️)
Excited to listen! 🫶🏾🫶🏾

I can’t tell you how vindicated I feel by this reaction lol because I feel EXACTLY THE SAME WAY!!!! When I heard TV of Sparks Fly for the first time I literally thought they had slowed down the tempo because it was missing so much energy for me! I think I’m noticing watching this that I think Baby Taylor knew she had issues with tension in her vocals and while she was definitely getting training to help with that, I think she also chose to use it to her advantage for expression. Now it seems like Taylor has gotten rid of those habits so completely that she doesn’t want to add tension at all even if that would help with the emotion.
I also think some of the expression she does put in is muted by the effects and mixing they add these days to make it sound more polished. The moments where her new vocals could shine and add so much to the songs gets muted because they place her vocals so much further back in the mix that they don’t hit as much which is maybe the most disappointing thing for me. Speak Now was my ride or die album and since I listen predominantly on Spotify, I’ve sort of had to morn the OG version in favor of supporting her ownership.
Also love the format you chose for this video! I think it might help a little to let it play more instead of skipping around to hear certain parts but I also get this was super long already so that’s up to you.
I think the extra songs you were referring to on the original are the acoustic versions of Haunted and Back to December! This were on the deluxe version of the original but were not included in Taylor’s Version. I would love to hear your thoughts on them though, especially Haunted!!
Also the Speak Now snafu was honestly hilarious and a super honest mistake because I think on the Taylor’s version of that one she’s specifically trying to sound younger and maybe even put effects on to help that. It kind of gives me an uncanny valley feeling when I hear it. I wouldn’t be too embarrassed or ashamed of it, it just happened! No big deal, and if Swifties have made you that nervous about that kind of thing that’s really on us and I’m so sorry you’re in that spot because that’s not any fun at all.
