Weenie Surgery

Weenie had surgery yesterday and we, Danny and I, were a total wreck! (Yes we both cried) She’s our baby and at 17 years old, a surgery is risky. But the vet was very kind and understanding. They did a ton of tests and blood work to make sure she could go under anesthesia safely. They said she is unusually healthy for a dog her age (I attribute it to us making her food daily from real veggies and meat. Plus the weekly acupuncture. )
The surgery took almost all day for prep and aftercare and Danny and I stayed at the hospital most of the day. We even brought the staff donuts in hopes “spreading the positivity” as Danny said.
Weenie was a champ and got through the surgery with flying colors! She cried when she saw me and insisted on both Danny and I being around her for the rest of the day. She didn’t sleep too well and was whinning a bit, but to be expected.
This morning she up and barking at everything. She ate food, did her morning rounds securing the property and is ready for a walk. She’s our little TANK!
Just wanted to keep you updated since you all love our baby.
(Side note: Since everyone always asks about prices in Thailand, the cost of the blood work, tests, medicine and surgery was just under $200usd)

Just to see if my dog had a tumor was around $2,000. Which is why when I saw the price of the bloodwork in Thailand I’m like omg thats actually a lot cheaper 😩😩😢

Felix is only 10, but suffured a back trauma and was hospitalized for an entire month. He used a wheelchair, physical therapy and acupuncture and made a remarkable recovery. I'm so glad that Weenie is doing well. Dachshunds are tough!
