"FEARLESS" ALBUM - TAYLOR SWIFT (PART 1)

Comment below with what I weas supposed to tag in this post. I totally forgot hahah!

Comments

The way I loved you is definitely my favorite re recording!! Her og version is not even close. Her vocals ARE FIRE!!! In the og she struggled a lot with those notes high notes and lows My favorite song so far from this album

Airyne Alavata

Most ironic part of the song fifteen? She’s now the one who ended up dating a football guy in her middle 30s🤣🤣 She sang this live in Singapore and when she sang blushing HARD knowing the irony behind it🤣🤣

Yay, Fearless reaction. White Horse, You’re Not Sorry, and That’s the Way I Loved You are some of my favorite Taylor songs so Taste lol. It’s crazy to see how talented a storyteller she was even this young. What you call the TS twist is something she picked up from classic county music storytelling. Things like the twists are reminders of her musical roots.

Oh absolutely sorry didn’t meant that to sound like I was saying your opinion is wrong in any way. Think my opinion is just coming more from a nostalgic and sentimental pov and not how good or bad the song actually is 😂

It makes sense then why she would go with him as her record label and leave the other one even though it was more established by far. She clearly wanted more control over her own music and writing. That’s such a strong woman at her young age!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Aw thank you!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Hate is a strong word. I wouldn’t say “Hate” but yes I didn’t like it. Remember this is my first time hearing it and I’ve only heard more recent music by Taylor so yes I’m going to have a high expectation of her music.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Oooh this makes me want to compare the two even more now

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Yes I keep bugging him for this

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Wow! That’s so young to already have your music in the Olympics!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Debut songs were written at 12?? Wow! Yea I would enjoy pointing out the difference between the old vs new recordings

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

It’s truthfully difficult for me to not compare it because I was not raised with her music. It’s not nostalgic for me. I can only truly go with what I feel at that time and that’s all directly connected to hearing FIRST her new versions of the songs.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I’ll try

While I would love to see a reaction to the OG recordings, I would request that it could be from the angle of listening for the value and appeal of them as opposed to it being just “wow this is so much worse than Taylor’s version” because to me that starts to get a bit old, and misses what makes them special which in my opinion is how raw the emotion was back then. Yeah the technique and vocal development won’t be as good but that’s kind of a given.

Taylor has always written her own songs. She does have other people with co writing credits on all her albums except Speak Now. However many of those who have credits have often talked about her not really needing them there. This album was written when Taylor was primarily 16 & 17 years old and I think most of Fearless songs are very advanced. Are there some more juvenile songs of course she was still young. I think you will find the same thing once you get to Debut album many advanced songs for the age and some that show her age. I mean some songs on debut were written as young as 12. I personally love the Best day for its sweet simplicity. I would never claim that it’s my favorite but I appreciate that it is a lovely message about mainly her relationship with her mom. While yes I agree this was not a song necessarily for the fans I think so many fans like myself can relate to it. I was bullied as a child and the only person I had to lean on was my mom who was my best friend. I love the idea of a series comparing original songs to Taylor version it would be epic and so much fun. Love your reactions 💗

Change was written after winning a Horizon Award at the a Country Music Association Awards. It was also used as the promoting track on the AT&T Team USA Soundtrack for the USA Team for the 2008 Olympics. She’s written all of her albums. She just had co writers for both albums. Until Speak Now because they didn’t believe that she could actually write. That said it must be others.

Danny needs to watch Folklore Longpond studio version! I’d also love you guys to watch Sweeney Todd together!

I remember the first time I heard “loml” it reminded me of White Horse. Maybe cause they’re both simple melodies and simple instrumental

Shani Gribben

She did say that she wanted the re-recording to sound as close to the original as possible. Also it was after she released Fearless the first time that she started working with a vocal coach to improve her technique

As a best day stan I agree with everything you just said! This song hit my 14-year old self so hard when I got bullied in school and my mom was my rock and best friend (and I even have an amazing little brother). The lyrics didn’t need more depth or complexity than they had for me to feel that this was written for me and my mom as well - to me this is every mother/daughters song (not just for Taylor and her mom). And the lyrics about her brother I interpreted exactly as you said 🙏🏼 I played it for my mom all the time and even edited it with home videos for mothers day just like Taylor 😄

You are right haha. I wrote my comment when I was about to fall asleep, so I mixed it up 😂 Yes, exactly! That is a good point; it could definitely be that she was just very good at getting people to agree with her songwriting choices haha. Either way, it’s interesting how they allowed her certain things, and seemed to leave her alone in terms of her writing, but were fairly hands on in other ways. It sounds like 1989 was the first album with serious contention, which is also interesting because of how established she already was by then. You’d think that would have reared its head when she was younger and just getting started! The “Our Song” talent show story is one of my favorites.

You mean teardrops on my guitar? I don’t think Drew is mentioned in Our Song. I also htink its interesting her early control with Big Machine, I have to think that because of her early songwriting deal with Sony that, i wouldn’t say gave her at 15 any leverage, but may have given Scott belief in her enough to give her more songwriting control than maybe he would have normally given a 15 yr old. Or maybe she is just a good arguer. The story about Our Song and how she wrote it for her 9th grade talent show and of course everyone loved it but Scott and the other BMR execs said no to the song, stating that was not how they chose songs to go on albums (whether or not kids liked a song at a talent show…. Wow that concept didn’t age well). I’m glad she won that argument, even at her age she knew more than the label executives. Our Song was her first #1 song and a classic.

Starbuck1234!

Wow the hate for the best day threw me lol. It’s not the most complex song ever but it’s one of my favourites because the lyrics are more child like and more like a love letter to her Mum. Maybe for me I just really relate to how close she is with her parents and sibling. I also think saying her brother is better than her inside and out isn’t so much about her but about how much she admires him and how pure of a person he is.

Taylor Swift has actually always written her songs, including both Debut and Fearless! She did solo wrote the entirety of Speak Now to prove a point, but it’s funny because she was actually solo writing on both previous albums. In fact, 7 out of the initial 13 songs on Fearless, including Love Story, were solo written by TS. Her and Liz Rose, who has acknowledged that she collaborated minimally with melodies and mostly helped edit lyrics, wrote 4 of the remaining 6. TS maintained a lot of control, which was unusual for an artist her age and something that she prioritized when she walked out on her deal with Sony and decided to sign with Big Machine. For example, executives wanted her to change “Drew” to “you” in “Our Song” to make it more generic, but she was able to decline their changes and stick to her original lyrics. It’s interesting to think about what she was and was not able to control with Big Machine, the actual process of her writing seemingly being one of the things she had a lot of control over.
