I totally agree with you.

2024-12-12 02:54:22 +0000 UTCYeah I’m with you on this. His rejection of religion, which has historically rejected queer people is completely understandable; and the message seems to be it’s ok to pressure people with religion when they have already made their beliefs/wishes clear. This episode has always gotten under my skin personally- one of the many instances where the show hasn’t aged well I guess 😆

2024-12-08 11:06:02 +0000 UTCThis episode is definitely a tear jerker! The scene were Burt wakes is a top 8 most powerful moment in the whole show! Chris’s acting is phenomenal and it’s a crime that he never won an Emmy. The ability to switch between cry-singing and goofing off as the camera moves angles alone is very impressive. I totally agree with your closing remarks. By the end, Kurt even acknowledged that his friends were just trying out help yet the others didn’t acknowledge how uncomfortable they were making him? Seems a bit biased from the writers room.

2024-12-08 08:01:47 +0000 UTCFirst! I recommend listening to the full version of One of Us, because they sang the whole thing and it features a verse of Kurt and Quinn together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSfZq8UC25g&ab_channel=musicfromgleeVEVO When it comes to the religion stuff, it's something I've struggled with a lot over the years. My childhood best friend and her family were Christians, her dad was a pastor, and they were very firm on their beliefs. Then I have my immediate family, none of whom believe in any type of god. When I'd go to my friends place, I'd say grace with them, I'd go to their church group on Sunday mornings if I'd slept over, but as I got older and realized I was gay, and my depression also set it, I had the same thoughts of Kurt. Like, if there's a god out there, why would he do this? I tried reading the bible to understand something, anything, but in the end I just couldn't believe. All of that said, I fully believe that everyone has the right to believe in a god. The only time I don't support it is when people use their religion as a way to be bigoted or try to force others to believe what they do. When bad things happen and people say they're praying for me, it warms my heart because it means they care. I don't think prayer works, but it's the thought behind it that holds the meaning for me. It's those warm, healing thoughts being sent that make me feel some peace. Since all of that, my friend and her family have moved away from the church, but she still believes in God, and I support that wholeheartedly, because at the end of the day we're all just trying to find something to hold on to that gets us through. Fully episode centric thoughts: The idea that Finn kept that sandwich in there, brought it to school, etc, and then STILL ATE IT makes my stomach churn. He even said he put his shoes in the sandwich maker, like buddy, please do not eat that thing. And I think that everyone should have done what they wanted and needed religion wise on their own, the minute Kurt said he didn't believe, that should have been it, end of story. Aaaaaaaand my semi-related note, I always find it neat watching Dianna (Quinn) in episodes where there's focus on religion, because in real life she's Jewish, whereas Quinn is a Christian, and IMO, she plays it well based on all the people I know who are Christian. Dianna's said before about one of her post-glee roles where she played a catholic nun that she was interested in taking on characters like that and exploring faith and spirituality that exist outside of her own experiences in life. And if you ever catch up on her current stuff, she plays a lot of primarily Jewish roles now, and I love that for her.

It also has an amazing cast for what is probably considered a low budget film. There’s also an accompanying book, which is amazing. The audio version of the book is the best since Chris reads it himself. The scar on the left side of Chris Colfer’s neck is from lymph node surgery he had done when he was a child.

2024-12-07 23:39:54 +0000 UTCI've had to set very firm boundaries with my religious friends. My mom survived a ruptured brain aneurysm and when she was in the hospital I told everyone to pray on their own but leave me out of it and don't talk to me about God. Some listened and the ones who didn't were removed from my life for a while.

2024-12-07 17:48:52 +0000 UTCI shouldn't try to watch episodes that I know are going to make me cry when trying to get ready for work. I was fighting a struggle against messing up my makeup or accidentally poking myself in the eye with mascara lol

2024-12-07 11:12:45 +0000 UTCI think Brittany was actually the most supportive of Kurt. She gave him research she had done on heart attacks as well as as a card. She didn’t push or even share her own beliefs about religion onto him, only stated that when she prays she falls asleep so that we know she doesn’t rely on prayer. She just gave him the quiet support of a friend.
