I hardly ever go to the Movie Theater to watch a Film, but Wicked I actually watched 3 times already and I don't regret it at all. I cannot wait for your first time and to watch it together with us

2024-12-21 12:37:46 +0000 UTCI CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR REACT TO THIS MOVIE. It came some weeks ago in France, and I still cannot get ovet it. Hope it came sooner on demand for U.S. viewers. Best 😊🇨🇵

2024-12-16 18:22:51 +0000 UTCI said it on YouTube and I'll say it again here... I suspect that this is going to be in theatres for AGES, so if it becomes available for streaming while it's also showing in theatres, you can stream your first watch and then go enjoy it on the BIG screen. 🤞🏻

2024-12-16 17:41:02 +0000 UTCI’m with you as far as being in 2 minds about when you should watch it. In a very selfish way I would much prefer you watch it with us because as a viewer I don’t get as much from just a review or a rewatch. However I also think that if you really do want to experience it in cinema then you absolutely should because it is a great experience. I would say go with your gut and what’s going to please you the most 🤷🏻♀️

2024-12-12 19:35:23 +0000 UTCIt was amazingly epic in the theatre, especially Defying gravity you need to see it. I was lucky and saw the theatrical production on Broadway it was so good the movie is on a whole new level.

2024-12-11 03:24:14 +0000 UTCYou need to go see it already!!! It's everything and so much more!!!! Love everything you do xxxxx

2024-12-10 04:50:40 +0000 UTCAudrey you are so sweet wherever you choose maybe you can do both watch on stream and at theaters. Why not? I will just say that at the end I was so overhills that I just started sobbing and didn't stop until the end phrase on the screen, and even though had finished I needed a moment to process all the emotions..... Cynthia was so Powerful I just can't find words. And, I definitely want to watch it again because WELL I LOVE IT, ITS MY NEW HIPERFIXATION SJAK and, because I feel like my brain couldn't process all of it jskja like I passed out jskka. The part of where you are not sure about his breathing ... Cynthia said in a bts that for that scene she had to change the place of where she was seating the notes like instead of her chest because she needed stability while doing the acrobats which is wiild because GET IT GIRL! You indeed defying gravity. Yes she did her own stanceees

2024-12-09 07:18:35 +0000 UTCNo go see on IMAX!!!
Laura Mowle
2024-12-08 21:44:40 +0000 UTCPlease go see this in IMAX and don’t wait for it to stream. I’d rather have your review versus reaction. You deserve to feel this as part of the movie theater experience. We love that you would be willing to wait, but don’t! It will soon not be available in premium formats anymore.
William Jones
2024-12-07 15:17:41 +0000 UTCIf you are feeling Defying Gravity from the soundtrack then wait until you see it in the movie where they don’t edit it and you can see the narrative play out.
William Jones
2024-12-07 15:15:49 +0000 UTCI would like to see your reaction. I saw it standard since I don’t have an IMAX near me and I wasn’t blown away sound wise

2024-12-07 11:08:32 +0000 UTCAll of the effects happening with her on her broom on top of this phenomenal singing production..... I think I held my breath the whole entire part! It was soooo beautiful.

2024-12-07 09:42:21 +0000 UTCYou HAVE to see this at the Cinema!!! def IMAX as well!!
Gigi
2024-12-07 07:17:52 +0000 UTCYou HAVE to see this in the theaters. HAVE to. It's a requirement of life...like food and shelter, lol!
Diana
2024-12-07 04:28:36 +0000 UTCThe music at the end, I think, is from the Ozdust ball scene - one of the most sob-worthy moments (the most for me) of the whole movie.
Diana
2024-12-07 04:26:15 +0000 UTCHonestly, seeing your reaction to Defying Gravity made me feel so ALIVE. I’ve listened to it so many times already, to the point where I’ve kinda just gotten used to it, but watching this was like hearing it again for the first time. It was an INCREDIBLE movie to experience in Dolby. Definitely wear your good headphones when you watch the movie, you’ll be just as captivated! Edit: That being said, you definitely SHOULD see it in theaters! We can always have a rewatch with you when it comes out. Don’t deprive yourself of one of the greatest musical film experiences!!!

2024-12-07 03:44:23 +0000 UTCFor parts of Defying Gravity she was also doing acrobats, in addition to singing in a corset and a harness. 🤯 Her voice teacher taught her how to “find the ground in the air” in order to belt. Birds had built nests in the attic scene (Defying Gravity) and would sometimes sing with her. They did sing in the studio before the movie began. They just didn’t use that version so the lip syncing didn’t take away from their acting choices. Both actresses in many interviews said something to the effect of, “if Broadway actresses have to sing daily 8 shows a week, we need to do it too.” The stage has 25-ish piece orchestra, movie has 75-ish piece orchestra. More fun facts. 💚 Quoting an article below. The link to the full piece is at the bottom. As for how Hayes captured all that singing, for most shots, each actor had three microphones: a boom mic above their head and two lavalier mics on their body, the location depending on their costume. For Grande’s Glinda, whose costumes were many times low cut in front, that meant having a mic on the left-front and right-front of her costumes, ensuring she could turn her head without losing the vocals (Hayes clearly learned a trick or two from Singing in the Rain). Erivo’s Elphaba, on the other hand, often had a uniquely perfect spot to affix a mic: the brim of her iconic witch hat. “The hat is only one inch above her eyebrows, so that is a really close personal mic,” Hayes explains. “And when she turns her head, the hat mic goes with her, as if it’s a miniature boom.” Erivo would also get more lavalier mics for when she wasn’t wearing a hat or wanted to take it off. The actors also got state-of-the-art in-ear monitors, or IEMs. That allowed them to hear their accompaniment tracks without them getting caught on their vocal mics. Hayes says he had to collaborate with costume designer Paul Tazewell on how to hide the IEM cords, and sometimes the mics, too. The IEMs, for instance, were custom painted to match the actors’ exact skin tone. But, Hayes admits, there was also some amount of digital removal of IEMs and lavalier mics from the finished cut of the film. Live singing also freed the actors from being restricted to a pre-determined tempo. “When we were getting emotional moments and weren’t in a dance, we would use a live keyboard in the IEM, allowing the performance to take the priority and drive the music rather than the music driving the performance,” Hayes says. “Then as we started approaching the driving bass, the rhythmic DNA of Wicked, we would seamlessly cross over from the live keyboard into the pre-recorded music track that was expertly produced.” The latter was, of course, important to ensure that the various camera angles wouldn’t all have different tempos when stitching everything together. Beyond the actors, Wicked’s London-based crew also had the challenge of eliminating background noise, so Hayes could get the cast’s singing recorded in as close to isolation as possible. And background noise, it turns out, can come from a lot of different directions. Hayes says that outdoor film shoots usually require multiple, very large electrical generators to keep things looking like sunshine all day—and they can be quite noisy. “We had four electrical generators, one on each corner of the football pitch-sized Shiz University set,” says Hayes. “We had to put every generator at least 100 yards away from the edge of the set so that we couldn’t hear them on set.” One of the unique challenges in terms of background noise on Wicked was how often there was wind on set. Wind, Hayes says, is the enemy of sound capture—even when they're piping it in via movie magic (as they often were on Wicked). And Elphaba can’t fly high singing “Defying Gravity” without wind in her magically gigantic cape, after all! “We developed a technique with the special effects department for silent wind,” Hayes says. “We would leave the machinery that creates the wind outside of the studio and pipe it in using flexible tubes, a little bit like air conditioning ducts but flexible.” That setup allowed technicians to get all the wind they want without sending any to the actors’ mics. Even a little error there, Hayes says, and the vocal would have to be re-recorded in a studio, which both he and Chu wanted to avoid at all costs. Hayes can’t say the exact percentage of what you hear in Wicked’s final soundtrack comes from the live capture and how much ended up needed a studio re-record, but he’s unequivocal that the latter was minimal (excluding the chorus vocals, which comes from an offscreen ensemble that included lots of Wicked stage alum). For the soloists, Hayes says: “All I can tell you is that Ari and Cynthia and Johnny and Jeff [Goldblum, the film’s Wizard] sang everything possible live on set. Every single time we sang live." Of all the background noises Hayes had to tackle, there was one that stood out for how unusual it was: birds. Wicked was the very first movie to shoot in London’s Sky Studios Elstree. Since the interior of the stages had been exposed to the elements during construction, the Wicked team found some unwelcome squatters when they started building the movie’s sets. A legion of London pigeons had nested in the studio’s ceiling. Hayes didn’t want to hurt them, but also didn’t want their cooing ruining takes. Luckily, an assistant, Robin Johnson, had an excellent idea. “Robin said, ‘Let’s just play them the sound of a hawk,’” Hayes remembers. “We played back a YouTube recording of some hawks hunting, and suddenly we didn’t have pigeon problems anymore. They flew out of the studio doors and went and lived their lives in happiness and didn’t have to listen to any hawks in the studio.” Of course, as we pointed out to Hayes, that did also mean they missed out on hearing Erivo and Grande’s thrillifying vocals. “They can go to the cinema and buy a ticket,” Hayes said laughing. Surely Universal would be only too thrilled to add even more to Wicked’s box office bonanza. https://playbill.com/article/how-sound-mixer-simon-hayes-captured-the-wicked-movies-live-singing

2024-12-07 02:46:57 +0000 UTCDefinitely follow your heart! I’d love to see your reaction to the movie, but it’s also a beautiful film in theaters. So I totally understand if you want that experience. I’m hoping they’ll bring it back to theaters next year when part 2 comes out 🤞🏽
Noelle
2024-12-07 00:47:51 +0000 UTCYou should definitely go watch this in IMAX or Dolby / RPX asap. I know you want to wait but it looks and sounds beautiful on the big screen.

2024-12-06 23:38:52 +0000 UTCThere are multiple parts to cry to, but yeah the entire scene of defying gravity is TOO MUCH 😭😭😭😭😭😭

2024-12-06 21:36:10 +0000 UTCTo be honest… seeing it in the theaters is hit or miss. I unfortunately saw it in standard for the first time and it was very upsetting that the audio was not set up for this movie… I couldn’t hear any of the background singers! So then I saw it again in imax and it was a ton better. I want to go again lol

2024-12-06 21:13:05 +0000 UTCTo your question at the end of Defying Gravity, Cynthia has said in interviews that this is not the hardest song she’s ever sung. It was “Im Here” from The Color Purple so I bet she may have been able to hit Elphaba’s war cry without being fully supported just because of how bad*ss she is as a vocalist!
Jonah
2024-12-06 20:55:02 +0000 UTCI can’t wait for you to see the movie! I was blown away! And the end is just phenomenal!

2024-12-06 19:26:02 +0000 UTCI saw this movie in IMAX and the part of Defying Gravity where Audrey said that Elphaba was using her full voice, that was where it felt like i was on a Rollercoaster

2024-12-06 18:41:34 +0000 UTCThe Ozdust Duet is on YouTube!! Really gives you context for the bonus track on the soundtrack

2024-12-06 18:27:19 +0000 UTCAudrey go see it! You NEED to this is theaters! I’d be upset if you didn’t see in on the screen. It’s an experience you shouldn’t miss!

2024-12-06 16:26:38 +0000 UTCI agree! Go see this in theaters, Audrey!
Tema Krempley
2024-12-06 16:23:40 +0000 UTCyou should absolutely go and see it in theaters. don't give us too much power and control over what you do or don't see in theaters first time watcher or 2-3 time watching doesn't make too much difference as there are still things you will see/hear the second or third time around that you didn't see/hear the fist time.
Ricky Peck
2024-12-06 16:20:15 +0000 UTCI always skipped One Short Day because it bothered me... I absolutely adore this version.

2024-12-06 16:13:05 +0000 UTCIMAX is incredible ESPECIALLY because of the practical sets. Though I really can't wait for streaming so i can back up/replay/watch it 5000 times for free. The theatre won't let me do that for some reason.
Wulfin
2024-12-06 16:12:18 +0000 UTCIm gunna be so honest but if you plan on reacting to the movie anyway I would say don’t see it in theaters as a first watch. As someone who’s been in the reaction circle for about 6/7 years now (as a consumer and friend of creators) its hard to find an audience that is going to want to watch something with you that you’ve already watched. Especially in such a short amount of time in between. Obvi you have dedicated fans that will watch anything but I can’t tell you the amount of videos I have clicked off of because someone has said they’ve already watched or listened. Idk that’s my HONEST opinion. Like ya it’s good in theaters but like it’s still going to be amazing on a big tv. It’s really not going to hinder your experience. And like I said in my previous comment. They are probably going to re release in theaters and do a double feature with part 2.
Liv Heskett
2024-12-06 16:06:07 +0000 UTCNow you need to show defying gravity to Danny!!
Katelyn Miller
2024-12-06 15:11:26 +0000 UTCWe won’t be mad if you go see the movie!! It’s magical in theaters ❤️ I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity!

2024-12-06 14:59:44 +0000 UTCThis was amazing to watch! I feel like I’ve rarely seen you speechless 😂 I cried so much in theaters! The emotions at the end were so overwhelming

2024-12-06 14:53:32 +0000 UTCIt was incredible in theatres. We were fighting for breath it was so overwhelming and emotional all at once out of left field

2024-12-06 10:08:52 +0000 UTCHere's my opinion. Obviously watching it for the first time “with us” is the best choice for content, AND I feel like there’s a good chance they will replay part 1 in theaters next year when part 2 comes out, so you could still experience it in theaters at some point just not for the first watch 🤷🏽♀️
Kenyatta (KD) Smith
2024-12-06 09:52:49 +0000 UTCAlready got tickets for my 4th viewing!! Please go see it in IMAX, it deserves that type of viewing.

2024-12-06 09:11:35 +0000 UTCAfter watching this movie, I think she may be the best elphaba ever. When I heard defying gravity at the end, I basically couldn’t speak. I never thought it would be that good. Also, I’ve been looking forward to seeing this reaction because of how good it is.
Aidan Terry
2024-12-06 08:22:56 +0000 UTCAlso there’s a small lyric change that somehow makes a huge difference to the tone. In the original stage version the guards sing, “Look at her, she’s wicked! Get her!” In the movie they’ve changed it to “Look at her, shes wicked. Kill her” which is a lot darker
Shani Gribben
2024-12-06 07:56:20 +0000 UTCI know Danny said he wanted to watch the movie as well so reacting together would be great!

2024-12-06 07:41:58 +0000 UTCThis movie made me actually like “A Sentimental Man”
Shani Gribben
2024-12-06 07:41:14 +0000 UTCselfishly i would want you to watch it with us just cause i’d love to see your first reaction 😭 but i also wouldn’t want you to not watch something when you want on account of us

2024-12-06 07:12:50 +0000 UTCDefying gravity definitely had me sobbing at the end. I saw it with a friend who knew nothing about wicked, so when we left the theater I'm sniffling and wiping my tears and he's like "That was a lot better than I thought it was going to be". It's absolutely the most powerful part of an already amazing movie. The ozdust duet is an interlude in Dancing Through Life (which is why it contains that motif) and I believe the official?? youtube just released a video of just that part of the scene. Which is also a tearjerker. On whether or not to see it in theaters my opinion is you should make a choice you won't regret. It's obviously an amazing experience in a theater, but I'm of the personal opinion it can be just as amazing anywhere. It sounds like you really want to watch it with your fans, and if you won't regret not seeing in theaters I say wait. But if you think waiting will leave you feeling like you missed out, I wouldn't wait. As much as I (and many others) would love to watch it with you for the first time, I think we'd all rather you have your own preferred experience, whether that's in a theater or with your fans.
Anna Stachia
2024-12-06 07:12:13 +0000 UTCi can’t wait for you to watch this!!! if you are feeling emotional from just hearing defying gravity you would lose it when seeing it it was so powerful

2024-12-06 06:56:13 +0000 UTCI loved the soundtrack! I loved watching your reaction to it! I still haven't been able to see the film yet! The part in Defying Gravity that made me cry just from listening to the audio as I haven't seen the film yet, is where she says "No, leave her alone! She hasn't done anything wrong! I'm the one you want, I'm the one you want! It's me!" the emotion in her voice in the moment makes me emotional and then pretty much everything after I'm a mess!
Josh Middleton
2024-12-06 06:23:38 +0000 UTCDefinitely go see it at the theater
PamRenea
2024-12-06 05:11:10 +0000 UTCI actually agree. The “ahhh” after the “unlimited” lowkey caught me off guard for the first couple of times and it would probably be my only complaint. But I’m kinda used to it now so it’s whatever I guess 😭
Alana
2024-12-06 05:04:03 +0000 UTCDuring the movie, I cried during the Ozdust Duet scene and obviously Defying Gravity
Alana
2024-12-06 05:01:09 +0000 UTCDefiying gravity was the best 13 minutes of the movie, Audrey you need to see it before the watch party with us honestly is to much the Wait to see it streaming, Ozdust Duet is when you are going to cry. Today is suppose to came out the original band soundtrack
Jackson Nevarez
2024-12-06 05:00:49 +0000 UTCIn my point of view, you should not experience it the first time with your fans. This is just too big an experience for that. You will want to see this many times, and still it will feel brand new. It’s one of those films where I’d have regretted not experiencing it in theaters.
Matthew Hines
2024-12-06 04:51:21 +0000 UTCI really really urge you to see it in theatres. I've seen it twice now and I HATE going to the theatre, because I know watching it at home, even with nice headphones, will not be the same.
Adam Parnell
2024-12-06 04:48:37 +0000 UTCAubrey! Hearing you talk about how her throat works when taking that breath at the end…. You have to go watch the clips they put out with John Chu talking about filming Defying Gravity. It shows a clip of Cynthia in the harness. Not only was she straining her breath support by taking that breath, she was also in a harness floating without any ground to support her diaphragm.
Ben
2024-12-06 04:43:08 +0000 UTCI can’t wait for the movie to come out so we can watch together

2024-12-06 04:36:05 +0000 UTCWhen they sing For Good, I'm going to be broken as a human for at least a month

2024-12-06 04:28:47 +0000 UTCOh friendo 💔 you have nothing to apologize for. I know personally how much the thyroid BS can affect absolutely everything. Rest as much as you need to and enjoy your fabulous new house! Obnoxious amount of insomnia fueled comments here: I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is being driven bonkers by the issues in the soundtrack. I really hope they do a studio version because my brain won't let me enjoy it the way it is 😭. Weird fun trivia thing, I met the people who took Jeff Goldblum bigfoot hunting for a TV spot and they said he is just as delightfully bonkers as you would imagine. Singing, dancing, making fun of Tom Cruise every 10 minutes. The producers warned them beforehand that they would have trouble getting him to focus 🤣. He was really good casting for this. I saw the movie last week and if I'm remembering correctly you are absolutely nailing Cynthia's acting choices from her vocals. I can be a judgemental butthead, so I made the conscious choice to let my inner preteen theatre kid watch the film. She absolutely loved it. The ending was incredible and I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. Personally, it wouldn't break my heart if you went and saw it, but I would most definitely enjoy a reaction from you if you did wait. So I guess I'm not much help 😅
Van Evans
2024-12-06 04:20:35 +0000 UTCIt’s even ten times better seeing it in theaters. Watching her fly and sing at the same time blew me away.
Matthew Hines
2024-12-06 04:18:50 +0000 UTCI wanna start off with I think the soundtrack did what it needed to do. Most everyone sounds amazing (most importantly the two leads) and their choices were unique to them and I appreciate that. If I had to change ANYTHING and only one thing is that I’m not a huge fan of that added aaaa after unlimited into “and nobody” idk it felt a little messy. Not even Cynthia’s fault either. It’s an orchestration and arrangement issue. And maybe I can’t remember how it sounded in theaters cause I was so captivated. But it stands out on the recording and it throws me off. Everything else is pretty much perfect on this track and I love how you can hear the shift in both of their characters. Elphaba starts off really meek and not as confident . Whereas galinda has that confidence. But in this song it completely shifts and switches. I LOVE it.
Liv Heskett
2024-12-06 04:16:02 +0000 UTCThe film makes Defying Gravity the most epic twenty minutes of film making ever. They let the song breathe and build up to the end.
Matthew Hines
2024-12-06 04:10:20 +0000 UTCI love your reaction to just hearing Defying Gravity!! It was amazing in the theater!! You can feel the intensity, everyone was speechless!!
Ariana Moody
2024-12-06 04:08:10 +0000 UTCOne thing that broke me even more and i don't know if thats how those lyrics are meant to be delivered even before this movie and i dont even know if that was even intentional at all i just havent heard anyone mentioning it: When Elphaba asks Glinda "are you coming?" she replies "i hope you are happy. Now (!) that you you are choosing this" But the "Nooooow" to me at first sound like a No, very dissapointed and embarrased sounding that then turns into the "now that you are choosing this" Like as in being too ashamed of your decision, which is, no. so turning it around saying now that YOU are choosing this again maybe this is a known thing but it was the first thing i noticed and i wonder if that was intentional or if i'm just reading too much into that Its tragic eitherway but i guess i had to make it even sadder for myself lol

2024-12-06 04:06:48 +0000 UTCgenuinely the best scene it brought me to tears so beautiful
Ava
2024-12-06 04:01:35 +0000 UTCYes, omg, defying gravity really had me in tears everytime! even when she said, "I'm the one you want; its me," that song in general gives you chills; you can FEEL the emotions on it!

2024-12-06 03:51:40 +0000 UTCI can almost guarantee they will put it back in theaters when part 2 comes out. Yes it’s great in theaters but I think it will be just as amazing at home.
