I will say that Dancing through life was one of my least favorite songs until I saw the movie. Its magical.

2024-12-18 13:55:57 +0000 UTCMy cousin is one of the very small ensemble. They did studio recording for the ensemble and it’s AMAZING. Her name is Meg Doherty and she’s also in the broadway production. She’s posted some amazing crap on insta!

2024-12-12 16:00:33 +0000 UTCThere is a wonderful interview Cynthia did explaining blending and overpowering your partner. Then they asked her about saying I'm Here was harder to sing than Defying Gravity. She broke down botha songs so exquisitly I thought of you

2024-12-10 02:44:55 +0000 UTCTimeline matches where this is right after Dorothy defeated the Wicked Witch. Not everyone, especially those not in Shiz, would have known they were friends. And then those that did know, could have very easily been persuaded that they weren't friends when the Wizard and Morrible made Elphaba into the Wicked Witch and Glinda the Good Witch

2024-12-09 06:51:55 +0000 UTCAlthough Idina’s voice is not always perfect, her voice is very recognizable and she is an amazing storyteller simply by listening. There is no one else like her.

2024-12-08 19:41:35 +0000 UTCAudrey nasnkas I promise the off blending makes sense in the movie ajksjka they did that on purpose. It's like a tribute moment to them so like Kristine goes insane and Idina says the AAAAAAh sooo off out of nowhere that is sooo funny. but is intentional jskas

2024-12-07 08:47:25 +0000 UTCDefinitely in the minority but respect your opinion.
William Jones
2024-12-07 05:36:41 +0000 UTCThe background vocals are studio recording but the main singing was live on set and the soundtrack is from that.
William Jones
2024-12-07 05:33:42 +0000 UTCShe is amazing in the role, though. Not every person in this role on stage is a great singer. When they get to the Emerald City and Michelle makes that switch you definitely see why she was casted.
William Jones
2024-12-07 05:31:57 +0000 UTCI so want you to see the movie. Jonathan Bailey singing Dancing Through Life while dancing and even hanging upside down adds even more to the vocal performance!

2024-12-07 05:29:21 +0000 UTCRegarding Idina's voice, I tend to agree it seemed off in Wicked, but check her out in the If/Then musical - I think it much better suits her voice. Example: https://youtu.be/pQM2qZQ-y_w?si=oMnj3NjR34sqZiv7

2024-12-06 07:44:34 +0000 UTCThe part where Indian and Kristen are singing is essentially the story of how the wizard came to oz and faked that he could read the grimmerie by saying oh ma ha over and over again like he was reading the old language. Also the people of oz can read, they can’t read the grimmerie because it’s written in the old language and only true holders of magic and sorcery can read it. It’s why the wizard needed elphaba to begin with, it is in the musical. This is essentially the director and writer choosing to incorporate the less popular wizard of oz spinoff film Oz, the great and powerful storyline that told the story of oz landing in oz and meeting the witches. Wicked also features the same air balloon and posters he had when he arrived in oz the great and powerful during the defying gravity scene. I personally love that they chose to incorporate that film as well as little nods to the wizard of oz. They brought the entire universe together. One of my favorite nods to the wizard of oz is during no one mourns the wicked we hear the theme to the wicked with is dead and the munchkin ding dongs his little bell.

2024-12-06 04:25:07 +0000 UTCThe thing about using Menzel is she sings in an unhealthy way and has damaged her voice so many times and had so many surgeries on her vocal cords that she has essentially destroyed it.

2024-12-06 04:10:53 +0000 UTCShiz is a city in Oz. The university is in the city

2024-12-06 03:21:33 +0000 UTCThat’s articulating how I feel really well actually. My favourite song is The Wizard and I, and I dust don’t.. feel it? The way I do in the live show. Something about the production on this version doesn’t make me feel the emotion or expression that the stage version does! They’re all great singers in this movie but it doesn’t elicit the reaction from me that I get each time I go to the stage one.
Megan Christina
2024-12-06 00:50:12 +0000 UTCYeah i’m mostly with you. Dancing through life was the worst offender. Idk what the hell they were doing with that one. What they did with nessa was awful with basically replacing all her singing with talking (they did this way too much with the whole movie) and fiyero is a great singer but his voice just doesn’t have enough personality. This is my main gripe with cynthia too. They’re almost too good of singers. Or maybe it’s just that the music is so overproduced and pitch corrected that you just don’t hear it, but i felt the same way watching the movie where they supposedly sing live. But idina and original fiyero have so much personality in their voices and the movie just feels so flat.

2024-12-05 02:33:15 +0000 UTCMy friend and me like teal wicks more than Indina menzel it was crazy. Personally I liked Meghan hilty more than Kristen cause she was funnier and I saw her live 😂. I loved this movie was awesome

2024-12-04 22:22:43 +0000 UTCWhere is part 2? 😢 I’m dying to see your reaction to defying gravity!!
Hope Suddeth
2024-12-04 19:48:06 +0000 UTCMichelle has said many times she didn't want to do the part because she is not a singer but Cynthia, Ariana and Jon (the director) convinced her to do the part.
Tessa Gattullo
2024-12-04 02:38:24 +0000 UTCI believe that change was made because it was an Animal saying the line in the movie while it is a person singing the line in the play.
Tessa Gattullo
2024-12-04 02:36:54 +0000 UTCdidn't notice it when I saw the movie in theaters but I don't understand why in no one mourns the wicked they changed the line... "What does it mean? What can it be? it's atrocious... it's obsceen..." to ..... "it's uncanny it's obsceen...." they kept the ending line but why change atrocious to uncanny it doesn't really make sense to me lyrically and situationally..

2024-12-04 01:50:53 +0000 UTCI saw in an interview where Cynthia had said that most of the album just came from the live recordings. But I can't find it..

2024-11-30 15:47:41 +0000 UTCAnother possible reason for shifts is when you’re listening on YouTube, sometimes it starts out lower resolution, and when it buffers enough, it will switch to higher resolution, and so different compressions will come through differently as well. The weird shifts wouldn’t come through in a streaming setting, as the different compression settings will change.

2024-11-29 10:49:04 +0000 UTCYes the Wizard is saying Omaha cause that’s where he actually came from. The woman who said “He can read it. He must be a wizard” is Winnie Holzman who wrote the book of the musical and the man who “The Wizard will see you now” is Stephen Schwartz who wrote the music
Shani Gribben
2024-11-29 07:53:24 +0000 UTCJonathan Bailey is British

2024-11-29 06:53:22 +0000 UTCPeter Dinklage is a really good singer. You should definitely check him out in Cyrano!

2024-11-29 06:44:41 +0000 UTCTartar is staining on the teeth
Shani Gribben
2024-11-29 06:42:42 +0000 UTCYeah I’m definitely not convinced by Michelle Yeoh’s singing. Probably should have been someone like Meryl Streep or even Emma Thompson. But dear god does Michelle nail the acting. I’ve seen the movie twice already
Shani Gribben
2024-11-29 06:26:40 +0000 UTCI think their blend (Kristen and Idina) was supposed to be bad bc I think their characters are supposed to be trying to hog the spotlight and outdo one another
Blaine Davis
2024-11-28 21:19:43 +0000 UTCYou didn’t hear the rest of the line of her asking Glinda about Elphaba because it says it in the movie.
Chaun McBeath
2024-11-28 14:24:28 +0000 UTCI won’t spoil anything, but Kristin and Idina aren’t meant to blend well in One Short Day .. it is a very comedic moment and the vocals work with what is on screen at the time.
Wulfin
2024-11-28 13:53:09 +0000 UTCWow... yikes.
BurnerBrad
2024-11-28 11:24:59 +0000 UTCBecause it’s not all made in the studio, some was live some pre recorded and all blended together and it’s a movie so your hearing background music fade in and out between dialog and song it may not sound all perfect. But idk what that one comment was talking about. I’ve seen the play and grew up on Wicked and musical theater and this version the characters felt even more relatable, the issues felt more pressing. It was a great blend between comedy and serious content. I had chills it was beautiful.
Jessica
2024-11-28 06:09:10 +0000 UTCIt might be Youtube quality. I think the biggest mixing issues are on Defying Gravity, I don't hear what she's hearing on Apple Music though.
Jasmine Levy
2024-11-28 05:14:17 +0000 UTCI am going to be fully in the minority here, but I hate everything about the new Wicked movie. The songs, the way it looks, all of it. I feel like they've taken my favourite stage musical of all time and just overproduced the crap out of it and it makes me so sad and frustrated. I don't like how they sing the songs. My favourite song in the whole production is in this and I can't even get all the way through it.
Megan Christina
2024-11-28 04:30:22 +0000 UTCSound: this was bugging the hell out of me too and it's because the immersive mode / Dolby Atmos blend is awful. If you turn off immersive mode on your headphones, it's better
Karen Corby
2024-11-28 04:29:54 +0000 UTCI wanna say, with headphones on, I am not noticing any shift in the music. I think that may be a side effect of the tuning of *your* headphones in particular, maybe a Bluetooth connection thing. The music stays at the same level when I listen to it, and I'm a pretty detailed listener.
musicalnerd8301
2024-11-28 03:51:08 +0000 UTCI think most of this album is studio? My impression of what they said about singing live is that they sang and did not lip sync while singing but they had also done studio recordings and I think mixed it together a bit in both the movie and the album (which might be causing some of the weird shifts Audrey was hearing). Anyway, I love this album, love this movie, just wanted to comment on that - I don't think it's all just live from set.
