2024-11-23 23:53:23 +0000 UTCThe Bohemian Rhapsody performance is so iconic and since it is such a long song it makes sense why they wouldn't do another one, cuz it's like the length of about 2 "normal" songs. But I agree that ND were really good as well and this is one of the times they actually deserved to win just as much VA (or the other main competition). And, of course, originally they were going to in case the show wouldn't be renewed. Btw, don't get me wrong, I'm glad Quinn's mum came to her senses and kicked the dad to the curb, but it always felt weird to me how the last straw was him having an affair and not the fact that he threw their pregnant teenage daughter out on the street! Also, the "had an affair with a tattooed freak" is a reference to Sandra Bullock's ex-husband Jesse James' scandalous affair with Michelle "Bombshell" McGee. Also, things I forgot to mention/didn't seem important to note beforehand: Sue's comment on "racist animated Disney characters" while insulting Will's hairstyle is a reference to Song of the South, one of the oldest Disney films. It could also be a reference to The Princess and the Frog, the most recent Disney film at the time. Shelby denies Rachel's offer to come teach at McKinley but she would later be the coach of The Troubletones. Similarly, Sue sarcastically comments on "the not at all stupidly named Aural Intensity". She briefly becomes their coach in S2. Somewhere Over the Rainbow was Matthew's audition song. This is the final appearance of Dijon Talton as Matt (until the finale). And realistically, no panel of judges would include a faculty member of one of the competing schools.

Now while that is the best Bohemian Rhapsody cover to exist, no one touches queen when it comes to that song. Still baffles me that it never won a Grammy. However, the creatively that was put into the glee version is really good and it’s very original. Plus I’m not a big fan of how much free-form rock out the NDs did compared to actual choreography. And biased me wishes that they featured more singers on the track instead of it being 90% Finchel, but they were definitely robbed of 2nd place. Their best DSB cover! And the full version has kurt, Santana, and more Mercedes! Also IDK if that will and Emma kiss was a surprise to Jayme. Because their kiss after sectionals is that way and I don’t know if they’ll do it twice.
