The little boy who came into central perk first at the end was Tahj Mowry he’s the little brother to Tia and Tamera Mowry, he played on full house, smart guy, seventeen again and Baby Daddy. (Probably other stuff too)

2024-10-16 07:51:33 +0000 UTCI totally forgot the singer Chris Issac played Phoebe's love interest in this episode. Brooke Shields as Joey's stalker is one of my favourite guest performances on the show. The water throwing scene will always be funny

2024-10-13 00:51:42 +0000 UTCPhoebe's songs in this episode always crack me up. I figured out how to play all of those snippets on my ukulele because it's just entertaining. The farm one is my favourite. As for her last song, she said that SOME people claim bisexual people are kidding themselves, and I mean, at that time, that was widely believed. She never said it was true, just that it was a common assumption that people made. She never said it was wrong to be bisexual. On a sad note, my not so fun fact for you is: Tahj Mowry, who played that little boy at the end who asked about Phoebe that you said was cute, was involved off and on with Naya Rivera over the years. His post on Instagram when she went missing is heartbreaking but he clearly loved her. He was the lead in the show Smart Guy, and she had a small part on that!

2024-10-10 05:30:15 +0000 UTCFYI just a random fact but the reason why they started this episode with a Commercial was because this and the next episode aired directly after the Superbowl 1996 which was obviously a big deal back then and was the most watched episode at the time with almost 52 million viewers

2024-10-09 21:14:02 +0000 UTCI agree and I especially can't stand when people send death threats to children. The actress who played a character named April Nardini in the show Gilmore Girls said she used to get those types of letters all the time because they blamed her for Luke and Lorelai breaking up and she was just a child when she was on the show!!!!! I will never understand why people do those kind of things to anyone but especially to children!!!

2024-10-09 19:54:14 +0000 UTCExactly. It's one thing to really get into your shows, it's another to not be able to separate reality from fiction and actors from characters (and then attacking the actors and even their families/significant others on social media or in person).

2024-10-09 19:13:13 +0000 UTCThat song is probably one of the ones people have covered the most, too. The Jack Black version is hilarious. He actually sings it rather well, too.

2024-10-09 18:49:34 +0000 UTCThe "and that's how we get hamburgers" always made me laugh. As well as the kid staring at Chandler during the song about different sexualities.

2024-10-09 18:48:40 +0000 UTCEven outside of the soap opera fandom there's definitely plenty of people who can't separate fiction and the characters people are playing from reality. Especially the ones who send actors hate messages and even death threats just because of things their character did. As much as I absolutely despise the phrase (mostly because of people using it to bully) so people really do need to go out and touch grass. They've drifted way too far from reality and need to get offline.

2024-10-09 18:47:40 +0000 UTCErika is played by actress/model Brooke Shields. You saw her in that one Hannah Montana episode where she played her dead mother who's ghost she kept seeing. She's also been in shows like Suddenly Susan (she actually won the lead based on her performance here) & Lipstick Jungle and had recurring roles on shows like Law & Order: SVU & Jane the Virgin. But she had a rather controversial career at an early age, starring as a prostitute in the movie Pretty Baby at age 12 (shot when she was 11), in which she appeared in nude scenes with grown men. She also starred in Blue Lagoon just 2 years later, when she was 14 and her male co-star (who played her love interest) was 18. And then Endless Love a year after that where she was 15 and her male co-star (who played her love interest) was 22. According to Brooke, she was still a virgin when she filmed the last one where she had to film a very intimate love-making scene, so the director kept grabbing her toe and twisting it off camera to provoke a reaction that would look like an orgasm. She said it hurt, humiliated and traumatised her so much that she completely shut down. Aside from acting/modeling, she has publicly spoken up about battling postpartum depression. Tom Cruise, who is famously a Scientologist and whose beliefs frown upon psychiatry, condemned Brooke for using and speaking in favor of talking antidepressants. She responded that his remarks were irresponsible and dangerous. She also argued that he should "stick to fighting aliens" (a reference to his role in War of the Worlds as well as some of the more esoteric aspects of Scientology doctrine and teachings) "and let mothers and doctors decide the best way to treat PPD". She also wrote an op-ed titled "War of Words", published in The New York Times, about how important it is to raise awareness and treat PPD, as well as how some medication can save lives (as it did for her in this case). Tom later apologised in person and she accepted. She even attended his wedding to Katie Holmes. And I haven't seen it but last year there was a docu-series about her released on Hulu called Pretty Baby, and is probably something that would be interesting for you and Danny to watch. Regarding the storyline in the episode, as a soap fan myself I can tell you that people like Erika really do exist. They can't seem to separate the character from the actor. I remember Larry Hagman who played J.R. on Dallas once talked about when someone came up to him on the street and shouted "J.R. how could you do this to Sue Ellen?!" (which was the character's wife on the show whom he mistreated/abused). It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Also, apparently during filming of the scene when Erika is licking Joey's hand, Brooke's Shields' then boyfriend Andre Agassi stormed onto the set and they had a huge fight, leaving her in tears. Fun facts: Matthew Perry ad-libbed (as he often did) Chandler throwing water at Joey and saying he forgot to close the toilet seat. You can also clearly see Jennifer Aniston can't keep a straight face in that scene, but specifically when Erika throws the water at him 🤣 Rob, the guy with Phoebe, is singer/songwriter Chris Isaak who had a well known song called Wicked Game (at the when he's doing the falsetto he attempts to make it a mashup by adding that song), among others, and did some acting as well. He had a minor role in The Silence of the Lambs for instance. Also, while some people think Phoebe's last song is biphobic (as in that bi people are just gay people kidding themselves, which isn't even what she said), other people think the scene was quite progressive because it wasn't common at the time to talk to children about LGBTQ+ issues or even sex at all. And I agree, there are better ways to go about it but kids aren't stupid and they deserve to be told the truth. The zoo janitor is played by Dan Castellaneta, who is known as the voice of Homer Simpson (and several other characters on The Simpsons). Director Michael Lembeck won an Emmy for this episode. Goofs: Erika sent a fan letter to "Drake" but sent it directly to Joey's apartment in his own name, and later showed up at his door. She could not have found his address without knowing his real name and she clearly believed he was really Drake and had no idea he was an actor named Joey. Also, he probably could have filed a restraining order against her since sje was stalking him. When Phoebe first meets Rob, he says "I don't know ANYTHING about music" but at the end of the episode he's playing guitar with her and even sings! And with Ross & Rachel.... patience is key 😉
