Pretty Amazing that Leah would end up as Fanny in Funny Girl on broadway and Amber would end up as Effie in Dreamgirls in London's west end!

2024-10-11 04:41:56 +0000 UTCTalk about i-con-ic!!! The song list is definitely stacked! (Though the ballads do the heavy lifting if I’m being honest.) In regard to the party line phone call at the beginning, the writers were defiantly acting like if they had no Finchel, they had no shot at winning. In terms of member status, it makes perfect sense, but in terms of talent, which they were referring to, Rachel made sense as a top 2 singer in the club, but Finn’s voice wasn’t even close to being at that level yet. The writers acknowledge that in the rest of the season but still act like he’s the only viable option to sing lead with Rachel. Doesn’t make sense. With the storyline about who will sing the ballad, the outcome is great but I HATE how Rachel ended up getting the solo. Instead of using logic that actually made sense to the situation, like how they didn’t have time to deeply discuss the song and Rachel already had one prepared, the writers discredited Ambers talent the used it as an excuse for her not to sing. 🤨 Were they seriously trying to gaslight the audience into thinking that she wasn’t at least just as good as Rachel and that her repertoire was inferior too? That’s literally comparing the Funny Girl soundtrack to Aretha Franklin. 🙄 It’s just bugs me because they went out of the way to add that in when they didn’t have too. Kevin and Jenna even talked about it on the podcast. (Ok rant over.) Fun facts: (1) the storyline of the setlist being leaked was written around Lea singing DROMP. The only other time that happened was with Rose’s turn. (A storyline I think was done better.) (2) During AIATY, the clubs reactions were genuine. The song wasn’t a surprise but they couldn’t contain their excitement. (3) Both Amber And Lea would go on to play the role of those songs, Lea on Broadway and Amber in London. Amber won an Olivier for it in fact. I actually don’t think that Leas new DROMP is an improvement on this one. She sounds great of course but the arrangement feels rushed. (4) Jennifer Holiday saw Amber’s Effie performance and afterwards told her that her version on that stage was the best cover of that song she had ever heard! And she’s heard hundreds! You should check it out if you haven’t already, it’s a masterpiece! (5) In the ending scene, Jayme Mays didn’t know that Matthew was going to kiss her so her reaction is 100% genuine.

2024-09-14 07:01:32 +0000 UTCI love that they ended the midseason with My Life Would Suck Without You. It's a sweet song about how the club doesn't really feel like the club without Will. Plus all the dances of the season so far being incorporated was nice to see. I'm confused how you thought this was the season finale. I know originally it was meant to be, but we haven't seen Regionals yet, plus Quinn didn't give birth yet. It feels strange the idea that the season could have potentially ended with no Regionals and Finn and Rachel not even officially getting together.

2024-09-14 04:43:40 +0000 UTCAs others have said, this was meant to be the season finale but Fox then ordered a further 9 episodes due to its success. This was the mid-season finale. And I Am Telling You and Don't Rain On My Parade are such iconic performances. I really hate when people compare Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Lea Michele (Rachel) because their voices are so different but both so good. Amber is more soulful/pop while Lea is more Broadway/musical theatre. It just depends on what people prefer. I love them both for different reasons. As for Rachel telling Finn, while I think Finn deserved to know, Rachel WAS being selfish and told him for the wrong reason. I admire that she was able to admit that though. Same with Quinn and her inability to tell the truth. Cory Monteith (Finn) was such a good actor and so is Matthew Morrison (Will). Jayma Mays (Emma) was amazing in this episode too. I find it interesting though that people just brush off the fact that Brittany basically outed Santana in this episode, especially in regards to the response to Finn outing her in S3. The double standards are crazy. Fun facts: For the My Life Would Suck Without You performance, they did indeed incorporate choreography from a few of their past performances. Here they are in order: Last Name (cowboy hats) Hate on Me (Mercedes on top of the chairs) Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) I Say a Little Prayer It's My Life/Confessions and Halo/Walking on Sunshine Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat Keep Holding On Push It You Keep Me Hangin' On (Santana's iconic hip drop) Hair/Crazy in Love (Brittany with the hair flipping) Proud Mary (Artie rocks in his chair) Anna Camp and Skylar Astin (who would later appear on the show) from Pitch Perfect started dating in 2013 and were married from 2016-2019. Skylar is also good friends with Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff since they all worked together in Spring Awakening. Goofs: The kids ask about the set list but they had already decided on the set list and they nor Will knew that Sue had given it to the other Glee directors. When Emma confronts the other Glee directors, she says Don't Start Believin' instead of Don't Stop Believin'.

2024-09-13 17:50:58 +0000 UTCI think My Life Would Suck Without You while cutesy, especially by comparison to the others fit thematically along with the storyline. The kids realized just how much Will has meant to them as their teacher and mentor. Especially after having to go through sectionals without him and realizing they could apply things they learned from him. Leading to them being able to do it on their own. As well as Will realizing he can't let Emma walk away, possibly out of his life forever. If the show had completely ended there for good I think it would have been a nice note to end it on too. They realized as a whole how much they need each other and mean to each other. Despite all the drama trying to come between them, they've found ways to work through it. Becoming stronger as a group. Which lead to their win! All the little nods to their previous performances served as a way to celebrate all those moments that lead there. Both for the characters and the cast. While not the strongest performance, I liked it! It was a very feel-good performance to end the episode on. I hope you at least actually finish the remaining episodes of season 1 before pausing for one of the podcasts, lol. Season 1 is special to me and I'm really enjoying revisiting it. Even if I've already seen it a number of times.

2024-09-13 11:42:56 +0000 UTCYeah, it was originally intended to be the finale of a short Season, but then it ended up being the mid-Season finale when the network ordered a full regular Season of 22 episodes. It went on break in December, then came back with 1x14 in April.

2024-09-13 05:43:40 +0000 UTCThis was released on my birthday, love that for me. Can’t wait to watch tomorrow! This episode was iconic for all the drama, Will and Emma, the win, etc. I love.

2024-09-13 05:21:25 +0000 UTC- You may have realized this already now post-shooting, but this wasn't the finale of season 1 haha. But it was the finale of the first 13 episodes and you are right in remembering that once these 13 episodes aired, Glee blew up and nothing would ever be the same. The remaining back 9 episodes definitely start to feel a bit more different than the first 13 and once season 2 actually starts, shit gets wild lol. I really do love the plot and performances of Season 1B too. It feels like a whole different season in some ways, but still maintains the heart of the show (before things get crazier). One thing you'll notice for sure is less focus on Will - who was more of the "main" character of Season 1A - and a lot more focus on the students, especially Rachel and Finn. I even realized watching this now that Season 1 starts with Will driving to school with the broken tailpipe and ends with him getting with Emma. But moving forwards, the focus definitely shifts a bit. - It still amazes me that Amber won the Olivier (the British version of a Tony) award for being in Dreamgirls where she got to sing one of her best (if not the best) solos on Glee. Full circle moment for her with a well-deserved win. And speaking of full-circle: - We made it to the frist Don't Rain On My Parade! And yes, it was absolutely incredible to see Lea perform this live in the actual show on Broadway. Words can literally never describe the out of body experience to witness that full circle moment on stage and see Lea lead the company with such grace and maturity. She really did save a burning ship from going under - helping people keep their jobs for another full year - and will always be greatest star! - I'm so glad you caught on to the choreography at the end! It's definitely something easy to miss the first time around (I know I definitely did), but it has such cute easter eggs to some of the greatest performances from season 1A. Makes you remember just how great (and wild!) some of those first performances were! - I'm having such fun rewatching this with you and don't wanna slow down to listen to some podcasts haha. There are a few good episodes here and there, but not worth stopping the flow of the rewatch tbh.

2024-09-13 05:16:27 +0000 UTCI love how they incorporated choreography from earlier in the season in that last song. Though it did take me a couple of rewatches of the show to realize that😅😂 Can't wait to watch the rest of season 1!
