In the original animated film the 'Evil Queen' has no songs. However, supposedly Gal Gadot (the actress portraying the 'Evil Queen') will sing in this live-action version. The dude who looks "princely" apparently plays a new character, not 'The Prince'. The actor's name is Andrew Burnap, and he plays a character named 'Johnathan', replacing the role of 'The Prince'.

(or add "based in snowWhie" for those that is not hint enough ¬.¬ ) Being "white" is irrelevant to the plot really, it is just the standard of beauty of the time and you clearly can adapt that to reflect whoever plays the role of the Princess. just to put an example: "Her gentle and pure heart enamored wheres she walk, it was said that her sunkissed skin shined like gold" or something (English is not my language so I hope make myself sense)

But again that’s just from what I personally read when she spoke about the original. I definitely didn’t like what she said about the animated film and it turned me off of her.

Lilly James doesn’t look like Cinderella but she’s blonde and white so no one cared. Idk why people are so butt hurt. It’s like so annoying.

2024-08-19 18:09:53 +0000 UTCI didn't take the skin tone too much into consideration upon the casting. What upset me was hearing Rachel talk bad about Snow White. The ORIGINAL. Disney Princess. Saying they changed the story so Snow saved herself and not needing a prince to do it. Taking away from the story we know and love. Which started full length animated films if I'm correct on that. Don't accept a role then bad mouth the original movie you're in. She did amazing in Hunger Games: Songbirds & Snakes though which let me know she can sing. I didn't see Rachel in West Side Story

BATB cast Emma Watson and although she didn’t have the vocals, it’s the best performing live action film box office wise after Lion King (2019). I think because she came with a fan base while in other films the actresses were still making a name for themselves. I love the casting of Halle and Rachel but I knew these films wouldn’t perform as well box office but we will get an amazing soundtrack!!!! Same with Lily James. I mean she was a perfect Cinderella and the film was beloved by many fans but she was not a very well known actress.

Rachel Zegler is amazing and I'm all for updating these disney movies and making them more diverse/feminist so idk what that fuss is about hahah. I will say tho that Once Upon A Time ruined any disney remake for me just a tiny bit tho because Lana Parrilla will always be the Evil Queen in my head hahaha <3

I Was a big surprised with the singing as I was thinking it was going to be more similar to the original especially with her singing in west side story.

2024-08-19 05:12:32 +0000 UTCI think the main problem is that people completely twisted Rachel’s words around when she did some early interviews and conpletely ignored Greta Gerwig’s role as the screenwriter for the movie. People kept on saying that Rachel was hating on the original movie and wanted an “ultra feminist” recreation, when Disney quite literally hired Greta Gerwig (director/screenwriter of Barbie, Little Women, Lady Bird) to write the adaptation, therefore making changes to the og. It’s nearly a hundred years old, of course a new adaptation is going to make some changes for the day and age we’re in today. Disney wanted an update, Greta delivered and Rachel was just speaking on the version she was hired to work on. In the process, people were in their feelings because she spoke on things she didn’t like about the original, which is a perfectly fair thing to do lol Actors criticize source material all the time, but the Disney adults are so weirdly precious about it, especially when they yell about lines that were originally in the Grimm fairy tale, like, do you know what an adaptation is?? An entire hate campaign against Rachel started because of a lot of out-of-context sound bites from those interviews and she became the internet’s punching bag for literally no reason. It was so frustrating and still is frustrating since the official trailer is making it come back.

People are upset about her being brown skinned and it’s like who cares . Second thing is the dwarfs which again you said again well. There is a third one around the time the movie was first announced. It was Rachel saying some controversial things in interviews( like how Snow White does not need to fall in love and does not need to a prince to save her).
