GLEE 01X09 REWATCH PARTY
Added 2024-08-15 16:00:11 +0000 UTCComments
From what I've heard (only from other people's comments I've seen online, I haven't actually seen an interview or anything yet where he talks about this, so it may be wrong), Chris never actually got any formal vocal training UNTIL he'd joined Glee, and was pretty much completely self-taught before then. Vocal coaches in his area didn't want to work with him until his voice "settled" (not realising it had pretty much deepened as much as it was going to). There was apparently one coach who believed him that his voice had settled, but they didn't feel equipped enough to deal with such a unique voice; once he joined Glee, they managed to get him a coach who could deal with it. That's likely why his voice isn't as strong at the beginning of the series as it becomes later on (if it's true).

2024-10-02 22:41:02 +0000 UTCI was just listening to Jenna and Kevin's podcast " and that's what you really missed " They said this was one of their favourite episodes ! Kevin did not like how Artie responded to Tina . They also both said that how Sue greeted her sister is how Jane greets people in real life ! They said the Sue in that scene is the Real Jane Linch ! ❤️

2024-08-17 22:19:50 +0000 UTCYou don’t need Parental consent for sexual health matters. May vary state to state but the show is set in Ohio and they allow minors to seek medical treatment for sexual health without parent knowledge

2024-08-17 21:19:48 +0000 UTCI always knew that I liked this episode, but I didn’t realize how much until now. Honestly, this is a top 20 episode to me. Rachel and Schue gets put on the back burner a little bit, we get the first Kurt song since the pilot, the introduction of 2 important characters, and some great songs! Plus the acting is giving everything! It still upsets me that Chris Colfer and Mike O Malley never got Emmys. They were both nominated, Chris twice, but that’s it. Blasphemy is you ask me. Did anyone else notice the pattern of blue in this episode? At least have the outfits on the screen were blue, especially as the episode progressed. You’re totally right about Kurt’s voice. He improves so much throughout the seasons! (And Roses Turn is in season 1.) Vocally Rachel had a great chance at winning and she had a point in that the judges would respond better to a female singer. But because she had a guaranteed win because Kurt throw the note, we’ll never know.🤷🏼♀️ I actually prefer the s5 version. It’s way less auto tuned, Kurt’s gets the high note, and Mercedes adds some flavor to the song that the glee arrangement misses in general. Solo versions can be found on YouTube. Also, in the context of the show, why didn’t Will learn his students vocal ranges? Had he known about Kurt’s voice, he won’t be surprised that he can sing high. Instead he just defaults to Rachel because that’s all he really knows.🙄 Fun facts: (1) During Proud Mary, Amber fell off the stage in her chair, and was laughing so hard they thought she was injured. (2) Chris Colfer is the reason for Defying Gravity. He mentioned to Ryan in passing about not being allowed in HS to sing it and it was a written in.

If you become pregnant you become responsible for whatever insurance doesn’t pay no matter what age you are. But that’s interesting that in the country you live in you don’t need consent from a parent or legal guardian at age 13 even if you are not pregnant.

2024-08-17 06:03:11 +0000 UTCI currently work in registration at a hospital and a minor is no longer considered a minor once they are pregnant so they can go to doctor’s appointments without a parent. They become their own guarantor once they are pregnant too so we can register them without their parent being there and they then become responsible for paying their own medical bills after insurance covers their cost. This is in the US.

2024-08-17 05:45:35 +0000 UTCI’m not gay and I still think he would be a dream father. He’s just so kind and understanding just try his absolute best. Exactly what everyone would want from a father.

2024-08-17 02:41:21 +0000 UTCI totaly agree with you about the Tina and Artie scene! 😊 I’m almost blind and I would most likely have reacted the same way, especially in my tennage years! I’m very grateful for this scene because it made me feel represented in a way many other shows didn’t. I was about 15 when I watched Glee for the first time and I related to a lot of stuff that Artie mentioned about his disability. 👍

2024-08-15 23:59:01 +0000 UTCI believe Kurt’s voice changes and matures over the seasons for two reasons: 1. About halfway through season 1 into season 2, Chris Colfer took a sudden growth spurt. I’m not sure exactly how much he grew, but it was fairly significant. I may be wrong, but I believe this can have some effect on your singing voice. 2. He was 18 when the show started. He naturally matured as the seasons went on and he kept getting better. Fun fact: The Defying Gravity storyline was based on something that actually happened to Chris. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to audition and the song was given to a girl.

2024-08-15 22:50:07 +0000 UTCAnd cause it's reproductive health they don't need to know what is going on you can even get prescriptions without perants consent

2024-08-15 20:47:32 +0000 UTCI don't know if this is everywhere but where I live once your older than 13 you don't need perants consent for anything to do with your reproductive health and if you do have a perants you can ask the doctor to make them wait outside

2024-08-15 20:45:49 +0000 UTCEspecially as that storyline with Quinn was fairly brief Also, yeah, teenagers don't always handle things in the way that we would expect or hope. You just have to hope that they will mature from it. I've met grown adults that still act that way.

2024-08-15 19:18:36 +0000 UTCI have to disagree about artie's reaction. he and tina are freshmen in high school this season (14/15). it makes total sense to me that he would react that way and while it's not the mature way to react, I think even few adults would react (at least initially) in such an empathetic way like you said. I think he feels embarrassed because he thought the girl he likes shared a similar insecurity to him so he felt more connected to her, but it turns out she was faking it. he's a younger teenage boy, so of course he would make the comment about him not being able to "fake it." he's gotta be so frustrated with his situation that seeing someone fake something like that (and from his POV kind of using it to get close to him) would be really messed up. I think it present day they probably would've emphasized more that tina is kind of admitting to having anxiety issues, rather than just lying for the sake of it, and in that way, she does have something in common with artie. also I am so so impressed you remembered quinn ends up in a wheelchair later!!
