In spite of its problems, Friends was ahead of its time and broke barriers in MANY of the topics on a show that was on the air in the 90's and 2000's. And if you don't know, the reason Phoebe tasted the breast milk is because people usually do that to make sure it isn't too hot for the baby. And I find it hilarious how people have such a problem with drinking human milk but have no problem with drinking milk meant for calves. Or breastfeeding in general for that matter. I don't have kids so I've never nursed but a random napping place... once I fell asleep on a swing at my school if that counts lol

2024-08-15 12:03:22 +0000 UTClol My mom always tells a story that she went to visit one of our cousins (distant) that we had never met in Sweden, in like 2005, and the cousin had a 3 year old and in the middle of the park just took out her boob and the kid stood and drank... Now I have nothing against breast feeding, but if they are old enough to stand and ask.. .I find it a bit weird lol. But that is also my American mind lol.

2024-07-31 20:50:25 +0000 UTCFriends pushed the boundaries SO much and seeing a woman nursing was something they weren't afraid of. You didn't see lesbian/gay couples on tv. Friends made it normal and you didn't feel like it was wrong. The playful bickering between Ross and Susan is SO refreshing. Its real, playful, fun, and cracking jokes makes things less daunting to discuss. They were such a progressive show for the early 90’s. I am so proud to call this my favorite show. I was born in 92 and watched it in elementary school. So none of these things seemed odd to me. They made friendship feel safe, new relationships feel okay, and for life’s struggles to feel normalized.
