GLEE 01X01 WATCH PARTY (REWATCH)

Comments

I remember the pilot very differently. I think this must be the director's cut or something. I was a total gleek and watched the pilot so many times I could practically recite all the lines, and everything is moved around, and there's a bunch of voiceover work from Will that I don't remember being in the original aired episode. There's also several new scenes, so must be director's cut.

Jennifer Adame

I'm a little late joining the party. I just recently stumbled onto your YouTube channel, and LOVED your reactions to Glee, and so I joined your Patreon just today. I recently stumbled on reaction videos on YouTube and found out that I love them. I love seeing the genuine reaction and surprise, and awe and wonder, and joy people feel when they hear a really good song or singer for the first time. You know, that sense of wonder that we seem to lose when we get old because we stop really listening to and hearing music anymore - we no longer stop to smell the roses and live in the moment. Instead, I'm always worrying about work and the future. Nevertheless, watching YouTube music reactions has really helped me feel more connected with others, and to live in the present moment, and it's also rekindled my love for music! They've helped me remember that there is so much beauty in this world. As one who sang a lot in my younger years, this has renewed a desire to get back into singing, because it brought me so much joy. But sadly, like you just mentioned, as we go through life, we slowly give up those things that bring us joy, just to earn a buck, etc. It's sad. I can relate so very much to your comments. - they really hit home for me. So. yeah, if you do remote voice lessons... ;-) I joined your Patreon, because I wanted to see your whole Glee episode reactions. I LOVED Glee. I've watched it 3 times, and I've been thinking I'd like to watch it again, and then I found you, and was like "Oh my gosh, I can watch it with someone who feels the same feels I do - feel connected with something amazing".. And then the extra cherry on top is that you yourself have just recently started them again, so if I quickly catch up, I'll be able to rewatch with you. But in addition to all of that, you do throw in a bit of vocal coaching mixed in. How exciting is that? How wonderful is that? So, now I need to catch up, and I can't wait for you to continue with the series a second time around. It does hit you in different ways. You definitely are special. I like the balance you've achieved by reacting and enjoying the show and music and helping us feel that same joy of discovery and connectedness to topics and people. But I love your vocal analysis too. Keep it up, I think you have a good balance. You are an amazing, beautiful person - I love your personality - it's so fun to see on camera. Thank you too for being so willing to be vulnerable. That was really touching and hit home. It certain made me feel connected to you - another human being. Which I know probably sounds crazy in a way, but honestly, I think it's a wonderful thing.

Nate

i know you said you are watching this with added/extra stuff added in i didnt know how different it would be from the aired episode and i dont know how to feel about it lol

Alexis

I’m so happy we’re gonna have gleeful weekends every week with you Audrey

Andreu Boada de Atela

glee was so special and magical. what this cast & crew did is truly incredible and will be remembered for so many years. the pilot is so amazing, i think it sets the tone so well for the show. and the magic and chemistry between the cast members is already there. i'll always cry at the way rachel and finn look at eachother in the pilot..

leslie martin

Aww Audrey, you definitely made me cry at the end along with you. I didn't get to watch Glee with you because I wasn't apart of your patreon yet, I had joined to watch OUAT and Taylor Swift content with you so watching Glee with you is gonna be so fun I'm sure!! Are you gonna be going through all 6 seasons entirely? And who is your favorite character if you don't mind me asking? Mine is Quinn. I also love Sam, Santana, Jesse, and Rachel. These might be kinda controversial, haha. Anyways, super looking forward to revisiting one of my favorite shows with you.

Tionne

We love you Audrey <3 and it's a privilege being here with you

Martina Mendola

Oh my gosh yes! We love a re-watch of Glee

Britt Quinn

It never made sense to me how he could transition from Teacher to Accountant so easily like those require two separate degrees lol

Kenyatta (KD) Smith

There’s something that I need you to know…I remember the first time I saw you on Youtube and you were reacting to Naya’s if I die young and crying and you made me cry. I had already seen a few glee reactions from other creators but it was yours that made me cry and made me subscribe to your channel. So when you created this Patreon I immediately joined but it was not the vocal coaching that made me do it, it was your heart and beautiful soul! I needed someone to share the glee experience with and all the feelings that come with it and you created this safe space for that. As the months and years went on you have managed to help me more than you’ll ever know. It’s the reason why I needed to stick around even after glee ended cause I couldn’t imagine not being part of this Patreon anymore. Thank you ❤️ Proud OG! What a journey!

Samir

Also I just have to say, my timeline perception of this episode is so warped thanks to the Season 6 "2009" flashback episode. I was waiting for Mercedes to sing "I'm His Child" at church, Rachel confronting Terri at Sheets N' Things, Artie auditioning with "My Pony," Burt forcing Kurt to join a team because Emma told him Kurt was looking at suicide pamphlets, Will and Sue playing basketball, etc. I wonder if anyone has tried mashing up all three episodes (Uncut Pilot, Pilot, and 2009) together into one mega episode. That would be a fun watch lol.

Landon Ballesteros

Audrey I cannot express how much joy your channel brings me every week. I remember coming across your "vocal coach reacts to Glee" videos when they first started coming out, and then seeing it transform into watch parties, and then by the time your Season 3 reactions rolled around I was like okay I need to be part of this every week and get on that Patreon. I don't have any friends that love Glee nearly as much as this community, and it really warms my heart to be able to feel, even for just an hour a week, like I have a connection with someone who does. Glee has transformed and saved my life in so many ways, and I'm so grateful that you found a love for it years after its end and brought us all together. I'm so THRILLED you chose to watch the screener - I feel like it was a perfect way to reground ourselves into the series by watching the uncut Pilot. So grateful. <3

Landon Ballesteros

So I can't remember if I ever shared this here but I was introduced to Glee when it was in its second season. I was 13 and in 8th grade and one of my best friends growing up ended up showing it to me because how Kurt was being treated reminded her of how I was being treated at school. I had come out as bi (at the time I used that but now I use queer as it's easier) to a few friends and one of them told their friends which made it spread around the school. Glee became a safe space for me and my family ended up loving it as well. My last present I got from my dad before he passed was actually a Glee blanket that I still have. Glee is what made me join this Patreon but you're why I stayed. You have made this just as safe of a space for your Patreon members as Glee was to a 13 year old me and I'm so glad that we've been able to make it a safe place for you as well. I'm excited to rewatch this with you and everyone else from the start.

Jay Johnston

I didn’t watch it when it first aired, but it was always in the Netflix version. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Selma Jabr

I’m so excited for this rewatch! In the first one, I didn’t join patreon until s3 and only watched the song parts and your closing thoughts of the reactions. But this time I’m going to actually watch the entire episode because I’ve not seen the show in 2 years. The longest I’ve gone without watching it. It’s just made smile so much and reminded me how much I love it! Truly one of the best tv pilots of the last 50 years. I’m excited to watch it after listening to ATWYRM. Definitely going in with a fresh perspective. Plus watching it this way changes things up and gives a community aspect that I’ve never had before. I think back to the first watch and remember WaWa and a tortilla blanket for some reason. We certainly have come a long way . Moving on, I agree that the screener version makes for a better rewatch because this is focusing on the show itself, and not the cast commentary. It would make a good bonus video, I agree. Also Jon Groff wasn’t in yet because they didn’t even know if the show would be picked up. And it was too soon to think of bringing him in. I have seen the deleted scenes on YT but never within the full episode. Where did you find this version? I didn’t even know it existed! I didn’t think the pilot could get any better and I was wrong. 😂 Can’t wait for next week! It’s too temping to watch the next one tomorrow.

Selma Jabr

I think one of the main differences between this version and the aired one is the opening scene with Will’s glee club performing and the scene with their director. A few other differences were slightly longer scenes like the Hank and Sandy scene. In this one we got a build up to Sandy touching Hank and Rachel watching.

Benjamin Smith

I joined you here just after moving to a new city and getting pregnant. I was so lonely. Your channel has given me something to feel a part of. It has given me something to look forward to every week. It brings me joy to see someone experience things I love for the very first time and find joy in it too. Thank you for giving me something when I really needed it. ❤️

Talia Shapiro

Thank you for doing these for us. It does feel like you’re coming to just hang out with a friend for a half hour or an hour. (I am here for glee and friends). On some of my darkest days, I would come here and sometimes replay ones for the third or fourth or fifth time. Hearing you laugh and be able to watch something funny feels like I am with a friend. It made me feel like I wasn’t alone. I originally found glee right after Naya’s passing in July 2020 so I never got to enjoy it while she was alive. I’ve had a really hard time since she passed, but this is really made me smile. What happened with Naya in 2020 also inspired me to write the longest Heather and Naya based story that's ever been done. Also one of the longest books in existence. Its actually kind of crazy. Going on 4.5 million words. 🥹🤯 Similar to you, it just allowed me to create my own space and now I made a group where friends and people who loved Heather/Naya and Brittany/Santana can come together and read it. We do read-alongs, story chats, watch Glee together, and just created a fun space where we can enjoy and also, celebrate what Heather and Naya did for the show and for so many people. Its been so much fun. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘

Alicia

Wow! I consider myself an OG Gleek but I’ve never seen this version! I kind of like the one that aired a little better I’m not sure I just think it flowed better in the editing! So glad you’re starting to rewatch glee! I’ve binged your old reactions cause they’re too funny!

Ayan

We love you Audrey! I came to your YouTube channel and this Patreon for the vocal coach reviews, but I've definitely stayed for you. I've loved the Glee and Glee Project reviews as well as Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist not to mention the many musical movies you have watched. But The OUAT and Friends are some of my favorite videos of yours. You are certainly enough.

Erin Perry

It's crazy how I joined the patreon I believe to the episode reactions. I remember when you first did the glee watch livestream with Danny. Watching the shows on here with you in a way brings me joy, because it feels like I'm experiencing the shows again with somewhat of a friend.

Turnip Crazy

❤️

Annie Willow

Lol@AA paying $10 a head 😆

Kristin Baylor

Yeah, Leaving on a Jet plane is in the original. I only know because I can’t STAND that song 😆

Kristin Baylor

We love you so much. Your commentary on things is so fun regardless if it's about vocals or not. It's crazy to see how much of the sets change over time!

Wrai Vizner

Yay! I’m so excited to be starting this again with you! I started binging your first watch reactions about the time you were on season 6. I’m really looking forward to watching along with you this time. It’s so much fun to rewatch and catch all those things you missed the first time around.

Kristin Baylor

Audrey! We all love you for exactly who you are! I appreciate your vocal breakdowns, but these watch parties with you are hanging out with a friend! In a way, you’re kind of like that friend that when you invite them over, you don’t have to clean your house first because you know they accept you for you if that makes any sense! Yes, I know you don’t know any of us individually, but we’ve all come to know you…. the real you….and that’s why we are all still here!! Much love!!!

Jewlee Nelson

because rachel can be a lot and annoying people forget that she was like badly bullied by people in the glee club

fry

it’s so crazy how the screener version gives it a totally different feel than the aired pilot

fry

A GLEEWATCH

fry

I just double checked and it’s because it was the Screener extra version. It wasn’t possible to find that in a higher quality. The rest will be in 4K

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Ditto !she made me cry .I can relate.

Linda

I don't know about the US but I'm 100% sure Leaving On a Jet Plane was in the version that was aired in Iceland back then. The rest, however, was not.

Heida

Loved it !I forgot a lot of that 1st episode. Audrey I feel the same as you watching glee at my age and watching it with you and this community has been the best years of my life, my kids tease me all the time but I don't care it just makes me feel different and alive some how being here with you guys, I look forward to every episode with you I'm also watching friends with you . you make my week Audrey with you straight frowardness your cusing lol! . you made me cry. thanks fro that.

Linda

"Leaving on a Jet Plane (uncredited) Written by John Denver Performed by Matthew Morrison (director's cut only)" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1392842/soundtrack/

Wayne Joy

Wait am I crazy? Leaving on a jet plane has always been in the episode.

Liv Heskett

This is the first time watching this version of the pilot. I thought you were talking about the extended version that was included on the DVDs. That version added I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane which wasn't included on the original broadcast version. Jonathan Groff (He just won the Tony for Best Actor in a Musical btw) doesn't show up until the 2nd half of the first season. I think this is the only time you see Vocal Adrenalin as a straight up choir and not a star vehicle for the same performer in every performance. The Terri being pregnant and Will quitting to become an accountant was always in the pilot.

Wayne Joy

AWWWWW, you broke my heart at the end, i could hear the raw emotions in your voice and i wanted to give hugs. We all love you!

Luke Dennis

Oh! You’re right! It should be like that. Let me check on it

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Hahah!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Much love right back at ya ❤️

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Aww Audrey you made me cry too! I initially joined as I wanted to learn more about the way people sing and what is best to do ect! But I became a Patron for you ! You make me giggle so much and I love your reaction videos but I love love love these walking watch parties as they are my highlights of my week! Thank you for being you! You are awesome! Xxxx 🤗

Lucy

YESSSS!! i'm so excited and I just can't hind it"" YES YES YES!! sorry

Linda

YAY! Can't wait to start all over with you! Btw, anyone notice how super low-quality the video seems to be (360p). Any chance of a high-res re-upload if possible?

Greg B

Gonna be incredible to rewatch this all again

Jake Sullivan

Wow this screener is actually so different then the og episode it’s kinda jarring 😂😂
