Yayyyy!! lol okay I finally watched it. Jack Antonoff started working on with Lana on her 2019 magnum opus “Norman Fucking Rockwell,” which was also nominated for Album of the Year. I would say Taylor, Lana and Lorde are his main collaborators although he’s pretty much established himself as a seemingly omnipresent figure in music. I think this song is incredibly distressing and sad, but also very very good. I can’t stop thinking about the first line of the song “I haven’t done a cartwheel since I was nine.” There’s so much in that lyric alone. So much of a carefree/playful attitude that gets ripped away from you as a girl with a changing body. Ugh.

2024-06-17 20:02:45 +0000 UTCThis song should have won her a Grammy. It was voted as the number 1 song of the year by MULTIPLE publications. It’s sooo unique but quintessential Lana. Her dropping that line about how if she told people she was raped no one would believe her because her story “changed” is sooo raw and relatable to soo many SA survivors. It’s just crazy that someone as mainstream as her is able to say these kind of things and no one bats an eye. She’s just real. And it’s refreshing cause I feel like so many artists today are focused on the charts and breaking records and putting out music that they say is personal but it lacks the depth of real authenticity. Lana is such a breath of fresh air. She could give two fucks what anyone says or thinks about her. And I think we’re getting that with rising star Chappell Roan. Very much a “you get what you get with me. I’m not trying to please ANYONE but myself”
