I had the colour changing tail Ariel as well! Loved it as a kid! I also cannot wait for you to see the live action! When I seen it in the cinema I got goosebumps from the first few notes of music, total flashback to my childhood! I would definitely say it's one of the best live action remakes from Disney

I 100% second this. Especially since you never even heard of it. Little Mermaid 2 is not perfect, but I love it to death.

Yes The Little Mermaid 2 follows Ariel's daughter and Ariel's Beginning explains what happened to Ariel's mother and why King Triton is the way he is.

The Little Mermaid was the last Disney feature film to use the traditional hand-painted cel method of animation

While you are doing Little Mermaid reactions maybe you could react to Darren Criss performing Part of Your World 15 years ago in his college dorm room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C77jdPBjzM4

Seeing the new version twice, I love it. It used this film as a springboard, but made it a little darker. I think Audrey will love it and the updated message, not everything is about looks, like Ursula claims in the animated version

I'm gonna second this. Twisted is by far the best of the Starkid productions and a must-see for anyone who grew up on late 80's and 90's Disney. AJ Holmes did a top-notch work on the music.

I assume it had to get pushed back due to the Little Mermaid album reaction. David (the editor) said in the Discord that the YouTube version took 20+ hours to edit

Beautiful matching Ms. Audrey. πππΌ Also, it was cool π that you gave us your experience with, The Little Mermaid. I have not seen this movie in a while. π
This was definitely one of the top Disney movies π₯ on my favorites list. Excited to see this again. ππ
Photos of Alyssa Milano (as a young girl from, Whoβs the Boss?) were used to inspire Arielβs face. Another actress was used as references for Arielβs body. They hand painted each of the bubbles (millions).𫧠The little seahorse reminds me of the munchkins from, The Wizard of Oz. When King π Triton π± first enters the castle π° you can spot Kermit the Frog, πΈ then Goofy, Donald Duck π¦ and Mickey Mouse all sitting in the audience beneath him, on the left. You have to look π very closely. π
I so did the flowerπΈ picking thing.π³ Under the Sea, π is one of the bestππΌ and most memorable songs πΆ from the original. π Ursula is not technically an octopus π because she only has six legsπ¦΅πΌ instead of eight. π It was less costly that way. As Ariel π§ββοΈ gives her voice π£οΈ away, the contract π has a Mickey (somewhere in the middle, from the original) on it, they removed it and the words are π gibberish.
After Sebastian π¦ passes out in the kitchen,πͺππ₯π¦ in the dining hall, is a portrait (the 2nd painting) πΌοΈ of Prince Phillipπ€΄π»and AuroraπΈπΌ (from Sleeping Beauty, the original). Prince Ericβs maid, Carlotta, has the exact outfit Cinderella (the original) is wearing when she cleans, π§Ήπ§½π§Ί except her headscarf. After Chef Louis tore up the kitchen, there is a Mickey head. You will see it on the windowsill (unbroken) πͺπ to the right.
The King and Duke (from Cinderella, the original) were in the movie but they changed the Kingβs appearance and completely removed the Duke. They were in the first wedding ceremony between Prince Ericπ€΄π» and Vanessa aka Ursula.π She will always be creepy. π«£
It does feel like the Disney Live Action movies π₯ are much darker π«οΈ and more adult than the originals. Itβs intriguing to know as children, we once loved π these movies. π₯ As weβve grown, we see π the messages are terrible and toxic.π§ͺπ₯΄ The takeaway is that some of the characters are awesome π€©ππΌ and the music πΆ definitely brings you back. π

I wasn't as big of a fan of this one when I was a kid and it first came out. I was more of a tomboy and a movie about a girl longing to be with a prince didn't appeal to me as much. Same with some of the older ones like Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. My favorites were probably Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, 101 Dalmatians, Robin Hood, Pocahontas and The Lion King. But, I developed an appreciation for it when I got older. As well as a lot of the others that I didn't previously care for. Now I love singing along to all the songs, lol.

I was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of the new little mermaid and all I can say is don't compare the 2 when you watch it because stuff is different. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the new one so much more then the cartoon.

Ohh Audrey since you have so many memories of some niche Disney knowledge, I think you'd love the musical Twisted. It's on Youtube and it's basically the movie Aladdin gets the Wicked treatment, so Jafar is the good guy and Aladdin's the bad guy
