WATCH PARTY: TICK TICK BOOM!

I laughed! I cried like a baby! I battled mosquitos!

Come join me and watch Tick Tick Boom!

*Sorry for all the mishaps! This is the first time I've done a watch party like this, so there's a bit of a learning curve. Plus I'm in quarantine!

ugh! LOOOVOED It!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

It's definitely a good one.

I had to give it a second chance. I have a bit of a soft spot for the lead actresses back story and I have a tendency to watch a lot of things for the people in our working on them. But it's def not for everyone. I have friends who loved it, hated it, and everything in between.

I watch so9me of the first season then lost interest.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

This is my favorite movie

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Sidenote: idk why but the first song and opening really reminded me of Netflix's Russian Doll... I think just the pressure of hitting certain milestone birthdays and feeling lost and directionless. It's a really bizarre show that I'm loving.

RENT always tears me up, so I was kind of putting off watching this. Mainly because I knew it was going to be big feels and, ugh, yes. Definitely big feels. I cried more than a few times. I had known a lot about his life, but seeing it play out like this was... so well done. It was interesting for me to see all thelittle tidbits that you could see influencing RENT or different points of his life that would fit into it. Even down to his friends and how they helped shape certain characters. I feel like you could watch both movies multiple times and see so many more connections. I can see why Lin was drawn too this beyond the obvious. That whole clock ticking and running out of time is very similar to the way Lin portrayed Hamilton both written and acted. This was a great movie and ugh yeah, gonna go find some tissues now.

I know its been some time since you did this review, but I thought you might be interested to know that the person who the character of Michael is based on (Matt O'Grady) also apparently heavily inspired the character of Angel in Rent.

what do you mean? Try watching it on your computer

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I can't seem to get it

It’s so clear how much Rent was influenced by his real life, even down to some of the names, the answering machine outgoing message, all that. And the chord progressions in Come To Your Senses just SCREAM Rent to me.

Please react to the Off Broadway stage version of the show. Raul Ezparza is wonderful as Jonathan so is Joey McCantyre: I know you are going to be reacting soon to the movie version of RENT I am so excited I just love RENT but can you please also send react to the stage version of RENT . You can can find the Rent Filmed live on Broadway on YouTube.

Jillian Davis

Please please react to Andrew Garfield’s green green dress. I think there’s only audio but I’d love for you to react. :) loved this watch along

There is something like an 18 minute original video on YouTube of Jonathan Larson himself performing, what I think was Tick Tick Boom in its infancy. Def before it got more exposure on stage

Yea I had no idea!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Andrew Garfield is supremely talented. Every time I watch this movie, I forget that he is English. When I see him in interviews with his real accent, it always throws me off

LeftyBlue

oh I just recorded No More :)

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

Many many cameos in "Sunday". Also Lin Manuel 's dad has a quick cameo in "No More"

Here's one for people like me who get obsessed with stuff. There's a lot here that I didn't know or notice in the movie - and I noticed a LOT (because I'm weird like that). There were a heck of a lot more cameos than I realized. This video really breaks down the details - cameos and easter eggs throughout the movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBxF24s4WrA

Oh yes!! I totally agree! I think it’s one of the best movie musicals I’ve seen in a LONG time!

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

I'm sorry we made you cry Audrey! But I really enjoyed watching the movie with you. An Oscar nomination and hopefully a win for Andrew this year., what do you think?

Oh woh! I’ve never heard of it! I’ll have to check it out.

Audrey McDonald ( Songs From A Suitcase)

If you can ever find it streaming, I would recommend watching Camp (2003). It’s about a Broadway songwriter who goes to work at a musical theatre summer camp (Filmed at and loosely based on StageDoor Manor) after a series of flops. It has a young Robin de Jesus in it, as well as Anna Kendrick in her first film role. It may not do well on You Tube, but it has some nice musical moments, with most of the songs coming from different Broadway shows.
