Thailand Covid SCAM!
Added 2022-01-15 14:07:00 +0000 UTCUpdate: just when I finally thought that the shit storm was over, it started to POUR! Funny because I was actually perfectly happy quarantining in my hotel for the next 10 days. Like actually HAPPY! That’s how bad things have been that I was happy to be stuck in a room for ten days.
But then I got a call. They told me that I can’t stay in my hotel room because apparently it’s not equipped for Covid positive people. They said it doesn’t matter that I only have minor symptoms. I have three options.
One: I can stay in a government facility. Umm… can I just F$&K NO! They don’t have air-conditioning, or Wi-Fi, and it’s a big commune with several people that are sick in one building.
TWO: I can stay in a hospital. However since I don’t have major symptoms, that’s not possible. I can only stay in a hospital if I have emergency symptoms
THREE: I can stay in a designated quarantine hotel. Hotel looks beautiful, but for 10 days it will cost me $2300 USD!!! Just to put things into perspective, the hotel room that I’m staying in right now has a Jacuzzi bath and a massive veranda view of the ocean on a king size bed and I’ll pay $240 for the whole week. That just gives you an idea of how much of a scam this whole thing is!
I’ve spent the past two hours trying to call numbers, looking at posts, searching, and trying to figure out what to do. Truthfully I don’t have the energy to do anything else. I am absolutely totally spent! I’ve spent a lot of time now crying because I’m just so frustrated with this entire trip! Sorry I’m not attaching a photo to this, but you don’t want to see my face right now!
I will keep you all posted in the morning when I make a decision.

2022-01-15 23:38:46 +0000 UTCThey tested me at the airport when I arrived. If I don’t get a quarantine escort to one of the options then they have apparently used police to forcibly remove people from their hotel, fined $1,300 and then put into a government quarantine facility.
