Slice of dogfighting.

No dogs are fighting in this video, however.

I'm trying out a bold new technique here: instead of using my weird framerates of anywhere between 15-20 fps, I'm doing what the animation industry has done forever in this one and using a mix of 1s (24fps) and 2s (12fps).

I think that's why a lot of the youtube comments on Alien: Monday were going on about how weird the animation looked. They're used to seeing the commonly accepted framerates and anything above that looks weird to the human eye. Like those Hobbit moves from 2012 that were filmed at 48 fps(!!) and looked utterly bizarre when they moved compared to the usual 24fps that all movies used.

Anyway, let me know what you think. On the plus side, animating on 2s is waaaaay easier, work-wise, that doing the constant 18fps shots I did on Monday!

Oh, and next postcard poll next post!

It must be a difficult decision. I think it looks awesome at 18 fps the, "weirdness" perceived was part of the charm, imo. But it means 33% more work and you are a one man animation team. It still looks awsome.

Dear Paul would you be open to creating a short animation based on this aquarium from the James Bond game 007 Blood stone with 007 walking into the large room and seeing the whale? here is a link to the video i am referring to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-PZvwphsjI

animation is looking good so far

I didn't notice or take issue with how everything animated with Monday, so I say if you want to stick to an unorthodox framerate, then go for it. Use the framerate you want for your animation. I'd say what stood out to me more as a possible negative was the design of the missiles. They just look like Nerf darts and not like homing missiles . I know they're just on screen for a few seconds, but they're like front and center from 0:05-0:06.

Animating on 2s at 12-16 FPS feels more “authentic” than with anime that heavily rely on 3D animations

1s for the win, 2s for the steady. I never noticed any wierdness about the animation in Monday bro. You nailed it mate.
