Hello there!
Well, we had to blow it up eventually. This six seconds is 92 frames long and took quite a while to do due to having to animate all those explosions! I might add more detail to the platform itself - tiny bits of debris flying, etc.
It was fun tracking down various large space stations blowing up in classic anime and seeing how they did it. As always, Project A-Ko came in very useful for reference here (might take a moment for the gif to load, but worth it):
The A-Ko explosion is a bit more flashy than mine! I still need to study more to really try and nail how they made things so stylised and stylish...
Maki note: we've been quiet on updating the Mech project because we're working on making the story flow, how to separate the acts, universe building and character profiles. It's been a lot of research and brain power, phew! We've been checking out the new Gundam: Requiem for inspiration since it's also set in a more "realistic" setting.
Anyway, back to work!
