Oh, hello!

I thought you might enjoy a behind the scenes look into what went into making the finished artwork.

The process typically looks like:
1. I draft a sketch
2. Maki checks and revises
3. I send Maki a colours draft
4. Maki checks and revises
5. I apply changes, go back in and polish off all the details
6. It's goes to print and then Maki mails them out

So I started with this sketch:

The background is a 3D corridor I made for the film with the angle readjusted. Anyway, I showed this to Maki and she made a revision:

I took her advice to push the expressions, bring the alien closer to the characters, and found a comfortable middle ground between my initial sketch and Maki's. And then it was colouring time! Which was tricky because I used the following Alien screenshots as colour reference, and I've never really seen an anime skin colour palette in this range:

It's nowhere near as orange as the movie shots but I think the print turned out alright in the end! I hope you like it and can even hand it to a random child instead of candy now that Halloween is around the corner.
