The Next Project

We thought it might help to show what projects are on the roster!

As you may remember, a mech project was proposed before Alien: Monday. You can view it here: https://youtu.be/pJKnZCSNqeY?si=7bacH928sAM3vaS-

It doesn't have an official title yet, and we've been brainstorming the story and visuals over the summer, as well as trying out some 3D techniques for the machines themselves. We're also deciding if it would be better to churn out one short film like Monday or make 3 episodes that are 10 minutes each.

Inserted are some design drafts; this is not the finished product you will see on screen. They may be subject to change in design and colour, but thought to share.

As you can see, I've painted some highlights and scratches, etc directly onto the 3D mechs. I used Cinema4D to adjust cel shading directly. I'll still be touching the shading and highlights up by hand, but you might notice that it's already quite a lot of the "grunt work" of shading done for us by the program! We are still messing around with it and want it to look as close to classic 80s hand-animated as humanly possible, so may attempt to warp the models a bit so they don't look so "perfect" and 3D, rough up the lines etc etc etc...).

The Tie Fighter Total Conversion intro animation is the next finished project at a run time of about 6 minutes. Street Fighter helped me realize where I was hitting some limitations and how to approach frame rate and manage assets more efficiently. It's the project that got Producer Maki on board since she's a long-time fan of the series (and a big time BENGUS appreciator) plus martial arts. It's still on the roster and I want to do it justice because of the expectation expressed by many on the channel.

The biggest demand at the start of the Patreon was the mech film so that's why I'm working on it now. Also it would be nice to do an original IP so the material can be more public. For Alien: Monday, we had to deliberately avoid telling or showing you all that it was specifically THE Alien film series, but with this one we can show and tell everything from the start. It will mean more livestreams and detailed update art.

Anyway, that's all for now! We're crunching onwards with TIE Fighter, and will post any mecha film updates as we hammer out the details!

Rik Newman (Remy77077)

Yeah, it'll be easy to have someone just casually ask it. Also there'll be a campfire scene where there's mostly potatoes but a bit of meat in it.

Paul "OtaKing" Johnson

omg you will HAVE to make a subtle reference to this in the final videos for sure now! EXTRA FINAL SCENE!
