Fake Arcade Game: VOIDBURST DELUXE!

Oh, hello there!

We're hard at work on the Monday trailer, but I took some time over the past couple of weekends to mock up this fake game (and accompanying news footage).
I've always been a fan of the early 90s-era of 3D polygon arcade titles like Virtua Racing, Starblade, Steel Talons etc, so I opened up Cinema 4D and tried my hand at modelling some (hopefully) authentic-looking very low-poly models.
In the process I learned how to make things explode and how to do laser beams in 3D!

It's all very low detail (my PC still had a terrible time rendering it all. There's a lot of ships and beams on-screen at once) as you can see, but the games I was copying the look of were specifically these two:

I've attached a .3ds file of all the ships at the bottom of this post. Open it in your 3D program of choice and feel free to use them. Or if you're a 3D modeller, do an ultra detailed redesign if you like.

The early 90s were an insane time in the arcades. I kind of wanted to do my own little tribute to the era when we all went absolutely nuts over polygons!
