Well well!
Observe, here are the elements that go into a shot like this. As you can see, you can save yourself time on backgrounds by not really painting in bits that are going to be covered up by other bits anyway.
The angle of this walk was a nightmare to get right, by the way! It took me and Maki many iterations and redos to get the character turn not looking like a Resident Evil 1 on the original Playstation turn.

Anyways, back to work!
