And a happy new year to you all!
Here's some shots I've been inking and cleaning up. The backgrounds are done and the characters have yet to be coloured and shaded so they're just flat right now, but it should give you some idea of what's going on.
What we usually do at this point is I'll discuss with Maki and we'll go over points like:
- Does the character need a shadow from 0:00 - 0:06 to "anchor" her to the background?
- Does the transition from 0:06 - 0:07 work or does her pose change too quickly (if so, I'll animate a closeup of her going through the door to smooth over the sudden change)
Things like that. So even though the whole film is "done" in animatic form, we're always adding little 1-2 second shots here and there. Which all add up and can change a 10 minute film into a 13 or 15 minute one!
I'll post up the backgrounds for these shots next time, with layers so you can see how they fit together. It may look at first glance like these are typical "character on top of background" shots but they were actually a bit tricky, as she is moving from in front to behind certain bits like the glass, the door, etc.
Well, cheerio for now!
