53) The Boundless

VERY slow and obviously crazy month due to me starting a new job and computer issues (I just needed a new cooling unit but it took a few days to get right). 

Russia (more accurately, Putin) invaded Ukraine today, creating a deadly war-torn environment in a world already tense and tired from the pandemic. I dont know much about the conflict. Putin's regime seems to want trade routes that it lost after the collapse of the Soviet Union. America, my home, seems to have wanted to partner w/ Ukraine as a way to enforce pressure onto Russia (by funding Ukraine's hyper far-right militia for some shitty reason). Its an unfortunate, violent world we live in. I just hope Ukraine's most vulnerable citizens can find a way out in peace.  This may last for awhile.  If you're in the Ukraine, please find a way to stay safe.

I wanted to at least voice my real-world concerns here because I cant type everything out on Twitter and as you may have noticed, I dont need to as often anymore. My psyche has grown weary of the bird site. BUT you all have been real good to me here on Patreon so the LEAST I can do is reward your patience. How about a special sneak-peek at one of the story's races? 

TW: Gore, Body Horror.

Among the races of people that live in the world of The Will of Monsters, The Boundless are probably among the most powerful (next to Witches, anyway). They're kind of like shapeshifters in that their bodies are made up of an unstable protein that allows them some control of the length, width and size of their limbs and extremities. However, the Boundless have to wear a special binding to help them fully control their bodies. Without this parchment, the Boundless may become overwhelmed by strong emotions and lose control of their bodies, lashing out in horrible, unhinged berserker forms. What makes this race so concerning is once the Boundless enter this unhinged state, they are able to absorb magic, increasing the strength, area and speed of their deadly abilities.

Idolomantises came up with the first piece of concept art, which I liked alot. ToonedToons provided the second image which was a solid take as well. I really liked the enlarged hands so I actually might keep those! But I wanted to expand on the unhinged form of The Boundless so I asked HoaxGhost, the artist behind those amazing angel designs to create something a little more violent and tragic-looking. Suffice it to say, they understood the assignment!  

I wonder what sorts of adventures Jarrad, Cham and Pai will have with this powerful yet mysterious race of people? Only time will tell! Maybe they'll make an appearance in the film! I'd love for that to happen if we have enough money to do so!
