34) Cham Chase Progress - SQ-B, Shot 24 Animatic Update

Casey McDonald has been knocking out Storyboard Revisions by taking my crude little boards back in the 2017 animatic (probably drawn in 2013) and making them into something legible. She's sooo good! Check her out!
This is an early scene of Cham being hunted by the crows while he searches for food. I've always loved this sequence and I hope the energy will be something you all enjoy as well!
I've been taking a little time away from animation to update the animatic some more based on new boards from Casey and another artist. Gotta switch things up every so often so I don't get burned out too much on one thing.
As this GIF may show, I've long concluded that although I'm simply not as skilled or talented as my peers but I am finding that I may not be as terrible at art as I once was. The old saying of "make 1000 terrible drawings so they're out of your system" and I feel like I've probably crossed that threshold a while back. Grabbing TVPaint has definitely shot up my artwork so Im not so constrained to Adobe Flash/Animate's brushes. Even my "critical eye" for these drawings has improved greatly. Im still not where I want to be career-wise; I really want to work for myself. But I am working to get there. Part of that means that I probably have to be a better Director than an illustrator so my skill-ceiling may not be as high as I'd like when it comes to still images. I still plan to challenge myself with animating this particular shot at some point.
I know what some of my weaknesses are and I can only hope to strengthen them and make them work FOR me, rather than against. Anyway, that's enough rambling for the day. For you TIER2 Patrons, keep an eye out for the .PSD of Casey's storyboards. I'll make those available in the Google Drive either later tonight or tomorrow.
