Chapter 3 - DevLog 6 (rework)

I started working on the rework on Sunday and managed to get quite a lot done in those few days. If someone still doesn't know what it is, just read this post. You'll find everything you need to know there. Without further ado, I'll get to the things I want to mention today... I warn you, this devlog is going to be very long, so I suggest you get some food and coffee and tell your boss that you won't be coming to work tomorrow :)

Chapter 1 - writing:

In those few days, I managed to get through 80% of the dialogue. Many of them were rewritten, edited, shortened, or expanded. In many cases, I felt that the dialogue contained too much unnecessary stuff, which at the same time took away the space for the things that were important and needed to be said. I noticed this the most during the first scene with Susan. I remember that scene having about five topics that were discussed. College, Olivia, dad, money, and finally Lily. I didn't realize it at all at the time, but now that I've read it several times, it's a nice mess. It feels like someone put the book in a blender and then tried to glue it together. However, these things have my full attention at the moment, and I'm trying to make the scenes less messy. It may not be bad in some cases, but it seems to me that there are too many serious topics for one scene, and it would probably confuse me personally as a player. So yes, it's definitely one of the scenes that got a complete rework, and in this particular case, I'm sure many of you will appreciate it when you see it. There were a lot of changes in other scenes as well, but I'll save that for later. It's hard to write about it if I don't want to tell you the details directly. Anyway, I'm not worried about it, and I think it's a few levels up now (the scene with Lily is intact for now).

Chapter 1 - scenes:

This might scare someone, but there is no reason to. Yes, there have been some scene changes. As I tried to explain to you in the post before this, I was quite limited financially in these things, which means that I also created scenes based on that. That's why a few new scenes were added, which should have been in the original version, but my budget was limited, so it didn't work out. What I mean is that, for example, the scene at the beginning of the chapter with Martin was moved to another place (the original one took place in front of the hospital). At the same time, Martin was replaced by another character, although I don't want to reveal anything at all (Martin will appear later on a slightly better and more logical occasion). Some scenes have already been rendered. Others are still in the render queue, but I render only when I sleep. I want to have the PC available for work during the day. I work very fast. For quite some time, I was depressed that many things in those old chapters could have been done better, and I finally got rid of that burden. It doesn't matter that it could have had nicer visuals or the characters could have looked better... There really wasn't much done in terms of the overall story, and because of that, I often got into bad situations when creating new content because the old content was missing. I feel good, and I'm glad that I have the opportunity to do these things now.

Chapter 1 - characters:

As you know, some characters have been upgraded. Personally, I think someone like Lily has changed the most. The same goes for Susan. Of course, there were some minor changes for Samantha, Olivia, and other characters, but nothing critical. It's more or less the same story again—a financial limitation that existed in the past (not that I'm rich today, but I can afford to do more). To be honest, I fell in love with Olivia. You know, in my eyes, she was always a character who was "dark," full of secrets, sad, depressed, and hard, but these things were never seen. It never got much attention from me, and it's safe to say that I never quite got around to the characters having any personality. There might be something to it because I've heard many times that all the characters are similar, either visually or in behavior. So yes, some changes are to be expected in this style as well. Maybe I wouldn't even call it a "change." It's just that a higher emphasis is placed on the characteristics of the characters, which was definitely missing before. But as I said, I won't reveal any details, at least not now.

Chapter 2 - plans:

I don't really want to comment on the entire chapter because I haven't planned too much ahead yet, but there is one thing in particular... As you know, Ch2 brought us a flashback where we saw Lily and Sasha. I would love for this scene to be much bigger than it is right now. We haven't seen many things...

For one part, I see many possibilities to show the relationship between Olivia and Sasha much more than I did. As you could read in Ch. 2, it is often said that the relationship wasn't easy. Sasha's parents were very strict. They did not like the relationship that their daughter had with Olivia. On the other hand, Lily or the MC had no idea that Olivia had such a relationship. I would like to show many nice moments, but also those that were not very nice.

For the second part, I see many things that could be shown in the case of what happened to Lily and what happened after that. I mean those first moments when Olivia and MC find out everything, because that's also one of the things that creates a hole in the story. In this part, there were not only things related to Lily but also when Sasha left. At the same time, in this part, there is a cinematic, which is 2 minutes and 10 seconds long. This cinematic will also be used on YouTube as the main teaser for Beyond Tomorrow. I'll say it again: I won't reveal any details, but I'm 99% sure that no one would expect this. We definitely have something to look forward to.
