Beyond Tomorrow - Chapter 2 #DevLog 6

Hello everyone! Long time no see, huh?

Sooo...

Since I gave you the latest devlog, we didn't really move too much forward in terms of new scenes and images. But it doesn't mean that I'm a lazy bitch doing nothing; actually, I did a lot...

I think I mentioned somewhere on Discord that I'd messed up some scenes, so some pictures had to be rendered again, and it's actually done. When it comes to the new scenes, well, that's quite a problem, I would say. The more I'm working and the more I'm trying to invest my attention in the environment and details, the more things become really hard for my PC. There are actually two scenes... One is from the college, and the second scene is almost the final one. Both scenes are total disasters!!!

The college: Since this type of environment is always full of people, there is a lot of stuff happening, and I really want to do every scene full of stuff (like people in the background, a lot of props, etc.), it's really hard to render this scene for me. I can't tell how accurate the results were, but the college scene is taking up to 15–16 GB of VRAM (I've got a RTX 3060 with 12GB, so you probably understand the problem). Right now, I've got three options... The first one is that I'm going to rob a bank, buy a new PC, and finish what I've started. The second one is that I will change this scene and do something different, which is something I don't want to do because that scene is supposed to show you another characters you haven't seen yet, bring some fun into the game, and also create something for the future. The third option is to render every single image from this scene 3–4 times and connect them during post-work. However, that's not a problem because I really like to work with Photoshop, but not if there are almost 100 damn images in this scene. So yeah, I'm pretty stuck on this one and don't know what to do.

The (almost) final scene: This is a very special scene between Olivia and MC, and to be honest, I love it so much. But, once again, the environment is against me. Grass, trees, and bushes—that's total overkill for my GPU. I don't know if you've noticed in chapter one during the scenes "walk home" or "take the bus," but I was trying to enrich that background with lights, props, and many other things. That's something I'm always trying to do because, yeah, characters should be looking good, but you always need to take it as a whole package. So, yeah, I'm pretty stuck on this one too, even more than on the college scene.

The reason I've mentioned these two scenes is that they're slowing me down a lot. I get it; some people are going to be mad at me right now, but I definitely can't deliver Ch2 in three or four months since Ch1 was released. It's not possible, but I want you to understand that it's not because of me or my lazines or something. Yes, I agree. I'm probably dumb because I started doing something I'm not capable of with my PC. But the truth is that I don't want to create some sh*t game. If I have to spend 15 hours a day working on it, I want good results, and I'm pretty sure that most of the players will also appreciate that.

The last thing I want to mention is that yes, I'm creating animations for Ch2. Right now, I've done like 8 animations (I wasn't focusing on it that much), and there are like another 20 left (including sex animations). I'm not sure right now how much it's going to slow me down since I still need to render those animations, but in the worst case, I will pay for a render farm, which may help a lot, but yeah, it's not that cheap either.

For those who were waiting for Ch2 to be done in three months, I just want to apologize, and I understand if you cancel your subscription. To be honest, I wasn't really expecting problems like this, but it is what it is. I don't want to make a promise or something, but the end of August or September seems more real to me, maybe sooner. Working every day and can't speed up rendering. I'm sorry

Thanks for the update, and don't worry about it. Being a patron of many AVNs has helped me develop godlike patience (for waiting for update/releases). It also made me appreciate AVN devs and what they do/go through to get us their AVN. So you're good.

Thanks for your understanding Don't worry, there isn't any reason to abandon the game. There will always be some problems, that's normal. I just need people to understand my situation. I'm creating this game full-time, which means I don't have any other job right now, so there really isn't any problem with creating the game, just the PC is a problem, and until I can get a new and better one, it will take some time

Your baseline sub price is low enough that the constant updates are enough to keep me interested. I can't speak for others but however long it takes as long as it fits your vision and is not abandoned I do not mind waiting for it. Considering the game is new and you have released a re-written chapter 1 (which was great by the way.) From reading this it sounds like you have a certain level of quality you want to maintain which is respectable. As long as the progress updates keep coming I am content! :)
